    I had insulin resistance and 20 years prediabetes without knowing. Having blood work done every year but doctors never mentioned my health threat. I retired 2 years from job, started eating clean, quality nutritious foods and daily exercise combine with intermittent fasting. My blood glucose now is stable below 90. Even with age deterioration due to aging at 70, I am feeling better and looking better.

    1. Consuming foods that are low in carbohydrates
    2. Eating healthy fats such as olive and avocados
    3. Eating healthy proteins
    4. Do exercise

    I went on this diet quite a while ago and I feel so much better. I also do intermittent fasting. 16 hrs no food, 8 hour window to eat. Had a spare tire, now it’s nearly gone!

    I just wanted to thankyou again. Finding your videos has helped me immensely. I have been following the advice given (with mistakes and cheating) but much reduced fasting daily 16+ hours on most days but minimum of 12. I am at the lowest weight I have been in 3-4 or more years and seeing slow but steady weight loss and I am so excited and happy (surprised) this is working. I take the vitamins and other foods recommended. I have Cut back on breads by at least 90% as well as other harmful foods/drinks. I am feeling better and I owe a great deal of all it to you.
    SO again, Thank you so very much for these resources you provide.
    I am disabled but have found a new energy and confidence that even though it hurts I am going outside and doing more, helping with garden some, doing yard work and assisting my wife of 24 years in ways I have not been able to do. Thanks so much.
    Oh and I have been diabetic, pre-diabetic back to diabetic and most recent test I was at 145, lowest I can member seeing since this pre-diabetic thing came to light 4 or 5 years ago. Next check I bet I am back to not being diabetic.

    These are the older recommendations: Studies now support more protein, almost zero starch, and some low carb fruits and vegetables.

    I hate having diabetes. I changed my way of eating, exercised, lost 111lbs but I still have to use insulin to live 😢. I was so small, veins were seen all over my body. It was unhealthy for me. People thought I was sick.

    Wow, I wish that I would have known all of this years ago when I was diagnosed with IBS, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue. I wouldn't have had to live so sickly from my early 30's til now, in my 50's. I've also just recently been diagnosed with diabetes. 😢
    At least I know now and even though I can't change the damage, I can help myself feel better. Thank you Dr. Mandell! 😊

    Ppl always think that eating healthy is a waste of time. As someone that used to eat very unhealthy but now eats very healthy, yes, meats included, I feel so much better now. Meat is also very healthy. Without it I feel weak and hungry and kinda sickly even.

    I’ve been working out 6 days a week all year along with eating healthy and having a “cheat meal or snack” once a week and in a calorie deficit and have not been losing any weight and due to my genetics and family medical history I am coming to the conclusion I may have insulin resistance and I’m doing a lot of research right now, this video was very helpful and simple to understand, thank you so much!

    I think I have insulin resistance. I saw on another channel where it stated that if you have an excess amount of moles on your neck and also a slight darkness it could be IR. I always notice that the sweat around my neck has like a strong odor(sulphuric). Never had a problem with sweating around my neck but now I do and it drives me crazy.

    I have been overweight for 20+ years. No one has ever checked this until just recently. Not only am I insulin resistant, but I am leptin resistant as well. Why did no one check? I have said for years that I have eaten better than anyone I knew and I couldn’t lose weight. I don’t think doctors believed me.😢

    Have any of your heard of getting leg cramps with hypoglycemia? I, originally got these symptoms on Keto. No amount of electrolytes help. I get the cramps when my blood sugar drops. It is most noticeable if I have sugar and the subsequent drop happens very quickly. Now, I am trying to eat low carb, not keto. Eating good fat, protein and veggies...but drinking low carb peotein shakes with collagen and wheat grass because I am trying to grow collagen back in my hips and reduce inflammation. I am losing weight, as expected....but here come those leg cramps again! Every night. I am also refraining from food from 7pm to 9am. So, I am thinking this might be some sort of unusual symptom of insulin resistance in the muscle. I actually met 2 other people online with the same problem and we all talked about how everyone tries to tell us its electrolytes but we have done that do death and it's definitely insulin related. Doctors just shrug their shoulders at me...useless! It is very hard to lose weight when I start to get these horrible cramps with any sort of calorie deficit...help me if you can!❤ Oh, I do swim 4 to 5 days a week and I stand often with my job. So, not a couch potato.

    I know Chia seeds are supposed to be good for diabetics, but I took some and I didn’t feel very all day. I couldn’t go to the bathroom and I just can’t take them. I said I did everything. I put them in the fridge. I didn’t eat them just as they are I made them The way you’re supposed to and I have to leave Chia alone because my body won’t take them.

    Saturated fats aren't unhealthy. Natural saturated fats from meats, coconut oil, etc are good for us. We are made of meat and saturated fat. Sugar, processed carbs and seed oils are the main problems.

    As a longtime subscriber, I've enjoyed these most helpful videos; however, I wonder what does one eat when unable to digest many of the high-nutrient foods? My daughter suffers from gastroparesis, as a result of lupus, and can't tolerate most fruits, vegetables or meats. She's developed diabetes, from having to eat mainly carbs, I believe, and is faced with an even more restricted diet. Traditional medicine has not helped her. Any advice?

    can this reflect on our face like itching ....im on gluten free diet CD and over the years i ate a lot of rice, dont eat sugar but lots of carbs ...constant headach, swollen lips, itching my vision is trouble

    Greetings from Germany,Dr.I suffer from Thyroid gland since I was pregnant and gained lot of
    Weight which is very difficult to lose it after that I got Lupus but Discoid Lupus and when I was very young like 17 I had a big surgery cuz of Ulcerative Colitis and lost my large intestine I have an G-Pouch(inside one) and Dr back then told me that I will always be very thin but since I was pregnant and got Thyroid my weight is bad 😢 achieved to lose lot of the weight like 18 kg now I need to lose 10 kilos more and no way this weight to go down 😢 and my brain suffers from this now… Pls what should I do? i beg for an advice that could help… I even did tummy tuck liposuc.but still I am fat 😢 Thank you in advance 🙏
