How I Lost 28 POUNDS of FAT and 6 INCHES Off My Waist

  • This details how I lost over 28 pounds of fat, several inches all over my body, and 6 inches from my waist alone over the course of 6 months through diet changes and exercise. It goes over the rough meal plan I followed, types of workout routines I did, and other things I learned to help me lose the weight. My goal was firstly health, but also aesthetic.
I know this video is super long, but I didn't want to cut out necessary explanation, or the moments early on where I struggled- too often I think these fitness videos online don't paint an accurate picture of how difficult it is to really change bad health habits, and I don't want anyone else going through big changes to think they're alone in that regard.
I couldn't have done this without Steve Zim from A Tighter U. Please check him out and send him some zombae love:

Tiffany that what happened when I became vegetarian. But I eventually went back to eating meat BUT THEN my parents became vegan and now makes fun of meat eaters even though they pressured their daughters to start eating meat again. My family is currently vegan (as am I) just thought it was very hypocritical of my parents 😂

@@gymfoodie20_42 I was going to comment the same. As soon as I told my parents I was going vegan, they stocked the fridge with meat and fancy cheeses. They even bought chocolate milk, which they know I love but never bought before.

I love coming back to this video 5 yrs later thinking I could never do this & DOING IT. I lost 50+lbs & have been going to the gym regularly for about 1 1/2 years now, & eating mostly healthy. I learned so much about my body in this time & getting healthy is like 90% feeling better & only 10% looking better. The best & most worthwhile changes are the mindset, confidence, knowing the tools & how to implement them, how to stick to a routine, & the literal energy boost, sleeping better. internally just not feeling so sluggish & lazy. Like the actual health part of it outweighs the physique part of all of this. Not losing my balance from taking a single step , not getting lightheaded from standing up, being able to walk up stairs without wanting to pass out, not pulling my back from tying my shoe (real story) and I literally feel 10 years younger. That stuff alone was a huge wake up call to me just how unhealthy my body was before. My blood pressure is no longer high for the first time in literally a decade...again...just like I'm in love with my body now, & cannot believe the progress ive made, but nothing beats being healthy internally

I thought the same. I thought avoiding sugar back then was just not eating candy, cake, or cookies. Little did I know sugar was in everything. So much so we’re adding sugar into food as though there just isn’t enough on its own. When I found out, I couldn’t help thinking, “no wonder America is addicted to sugar!” “No wonder why Americans are food addicted and always prefer going out for fast food or takeout! The country is literally trying to make it so by making food as delicious as possible in a lab.” I also never put extra salt or pepper on my food so when I found out about the salt content in food I was shocked to say the least. I never cooked back then, but I do now and often will use salt and pepper in cooking along with other seasonings. I still don’t put extra salt or pepper on food. Just use it when cooking.

I don't think most of the viewers realize how hard a transformation like this actually is/was. Most people fail because they completely underestimate what it takes and think they can just "willpower" through it for a couple of weeks. ( and then fail when willpower runs out). Good job girl.

Some things I either cut out of the video for time (lol) or neglected to mention and should've:
    -I'm 5'3".... and a half
-I MAJORLY upped my water intake as well (to what a normal person should be getting but I used to be notoriously horrible at drinking enough water and changing this helped me a lot)
    - water is the ONLY thing I drank......... outside of my cheats with vanilla coke
-When I say sugar I mean refined, process sugars. Natural sugars like fruits are fine (though I didn't really eat any fruit just cause I'm not a big fan of em).

For those who can't afford a personal trainer and want to get in shape and stuff: I can't afford one either, but it's fine. It's true that a personal trainer can help you a lot with exercises, eating etc., but since I can't afford going to gym, I started with baby steps such as 10 minutes abs workout 2 or 3 times a week, then gradually increased the workouts, eventually I started doing legs and arms as well. With the eating part, I still used to eat the same things, but in smaller portions (like instead of eating from a regular plate, I would eat from a smaller one). I still used to eat snacks and sweets, but somehow naturally I start cutting off those as well because I felt like I was sabotaging my hard work. All the workouts I'm doing are from youtube (mainly rebecca louise and madfit). The bottom line to this long ass comment is that as long as you start from somewhere, you keep doing your workout at least a few times a week, no matter how short they are and you learn to listen to your body, the results will show. It's hard at the beginning, but it will get so much easier over time and remember, your body it's capable of so many amazing things and it has a lot to tell you if you pick up on certain signs (eg. feeling awful after eating a bunch of stuff, you're stomach not being happy with certain things etc.)

Jenn W what's also cool about her posture changing is not just from the workout but it's also from her new boosted confidence. It's been proven, the more confident you are in yourself and the better you feel about yourself, the better your posture is and the better you carry yourself. You can just see the confidence radiating off of her at the end and it's freaking amazing and really inspires me. ❤️

I needed this so badly. I've always struggled with my weight. The smallest I've *ever* been was about 130lbs and I'm 5'3". Hearing her say that what was meant to be a 6-8 week process became a 5(?) month process was actually incredibly encouraging to me. And when she showed that clip of how hard it is to do without sugar, that made me realize I'm not alone. I have a sweet tooth, always have, and it undoes me every time. But after watching this, I threw my cookies away and haven't looked at them again. I kicked soft drinks before, and I can do it again. Living proof here that sugar is addictive because I don't even *like* soft drinks and I seem to keep drinking it somehow.
I feel empowered after watching this, and that's something I haven't felt in a long time.

    • @keljells
      @keljells 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Telentropy X I always think it’s harder for us people on the “shorter” side as well, there’s just not as much body to put the weight on as there is with a taller person and it’s so much more noticeable on is when we gain 5/10 lbs vs not even noticing that on a taller person. I don’t know if that makes muck sense and it’s probably not very scientific but it’s just always how I felt about the topic.
I think instead of pounds and weight, we should strive for where we feel most healthy and comfortable, because you truly can feel added weight on you, so aiming for where you feel the best and look the best, if that’s important to you, but mostly where your body is most healthy and efficient.
I hope you are doing well and things are going great!

It's because sugar is a drug more addictive than cocaine, and you are addicted to it.. Just like me, and just like almost everyone who is 40+ lbs over weight. It's harder to kick than cocaine too cause it's everywhere, in everything, being advertised at you constantly, on every street corner and social event. Imagine someone trying to quit cocaine or cigarettes with it being so incredibly socially acceptable and all pervasive. Its the hardest addiction to fight.

I had the same reaction when I cut sugar, flour/grains and dairy , but had a withdrawal reaction to the grain too. It was the healthiest I’ve felt in my life, did it for about six months, lost 40lbs but just couldn’t sustain it any longer. Hard thing is that I’m disabled and between not being able to be active and needing to rely on other people for help sometimes means that it’s hard to stay consistent on a diet or loose weight. I’m really happy for you! You’re looking amazing, I’m glad you found your answer!

    Summary
Eating: cut sugar, eat 5 hours apart, cut processed food, try cutting salt, intermittent, fasting, calorie deficit
Drink: 1 table spoon of apple cider vinegar before eating with 1 cup of water
Workout: get a good trainer/professional that can help you reach your goals, learn how to breath for all exercising
Overall: Don’t be too hard on yourself, if you fail get back up, Don’t be super strict if it’s unrealistic

I’m glad you mentioned that often today people, especially women, are shamed for working out. I just started my path and it’s similar to yours. I just want to get toner but I’m constantly berated for “not needing to lose weight.” I know I don’t *need* to lose weight but I want to. And it feels nice to see someone share the pain of being put down by people who claim to be for women and body positivity.

Kristen Nowlin It's not something that many people speak about so I also found it cool that she voiced it
Because I am the exact opposite, I am thin and people say I look perfect because they weight more but I want to get thicker with muscels which nobody wants to understand
Like you said need and want are two different things and people forget that their view of beauty and "need" is different from other people and that it should be respected

    • @xxxthatgirlxxx
      @xxxthatgirlxxx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

I don't know that people berate others for not needing to lose weight unless they are very thin/healthy looking and it would make them unhealthy to be slimmer. If several people are telling someone they're going too far to lose weight for a thin person, I'm sorry but that sounds like the person may have a problem with body dysmorphia. If several people are telling you, you dont need to lose weight, honestly it's not to be compared to being told you need to lose weight by others, as being thin is the socially accepted standard. A lot of my friends who are quite thin would go to the gym just to get muscles or have their body look more fit, and that's fine. But one of them got very very thin by not eating and gymming and I did have to tell her to chill, because it was unhealthy. Anyway, I don't know your situation at all and I am just a stranger, but from a person who has experienced a lot of sides of this I just wanted to say - please be healthy, it will make you happier in the long run.

Kristen Nowlin agreed. I have had a past of disorderly eating and restriction. Then I finally recovered and stopped caring about what I ate (I still worked out). Now I am at the point where I want to tone up and eat healthy so I feel confident. I am doing it in a very balanced way where I still eat treats and enjoy my life, but my main goal is to make better choices. I have a few friends and family who just consistently bug me about my goals. I get why they are saying it but they also see me letting loose and balancing the goals with indulging. I have others goals in my life too, but fitness is one of them. I don't mean to sound high up on myself but I think that sometimes it comes from a place of envy because they feel like because you are changing for the better they should too and they might not be ready.

do not avoid overdo or avoid cardio! Do " total body sculpt" sort of workout + pex Fitnessblender " bodyforming hiit" or " green light red light cardio" +" day 3 hiit cardio and abs" + butt abs tabata + quick lift butt thigh and oh my glutes
Soh also has a good BUTT +ABS routine and recently she added a *abs butt thigh* workout i have consistently done her *chest and back* and *core plank* routine

One thing apart from your amazing body transformation that I noticed first on your before and after was your skin health. But I don't know if that something you noticed. Greater clarity, visible tightening and blinding glow. It just goes to show how diets in low processed sugar, more exercise and loads of fruit and veggies can make to the health of your skin. Really inspiring!

This video is NOT about fitness or health. It's about a dress size. The dietary shift from all-in to overly restrictive is a massive red flag in itself, but you also are not meeting your micros. Maintain the exercise and consider variety in your diet. The only disclaimer this video needed was "what I am doing is sacrificing my health to fit my standard of beauty, please speak to a dietitian about nutrition advice, and to your family doctor to discuss overall health & wellness." That's all you need.
