    • @SugarQueenEva
      @SugarQueenEva  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Jessa. Thank you for your kindness, I am very happy to help:). Yes, the lace gets hard in time. The first day is very soft and stretchy and it gets hard in few days or a week, depending on the moisture in the air. You can make it many days in advance but keep in mind to let it harden in the position you want the lace to stay, meaning if you fold it, the folding marks will be visible as the lace starts to dry out. Once is completely dry you can store it a airtight container for a long time.

    1. Can this edible paper be placed on top of the fresh cream coating, won't this material be mushy?
    2. Will it last if we keep the decorated cake in the fridge?
    3. Is it necessary to apply any cream before putting it on the cake?

    • @SugarQueenEva
      @SugarQueenEva  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for my late reply.
      1. I recommend you don't place it on a wet or soft cream. It works with buttercream or ganache. But if you spray the lace with edible glaze (containing edible shellac), it could work just fine even with fresh cream coating.
      2. Yes, it will last in the fridge on the decorated cake.
      3. No, I guess it's not necessary to apply cream before putting it on the cake, as long as the surface is not wet. But even in this case you can try using an edible glaze spray. They use this spray for chocolate and sugar decoration to protect them from moisture.
      Let me know how it works.

    This is a spectacular recipe and I have already found so many other great uses for it! But when it comes to the lace I'm unfortunately still struggling. I think it is mostly operator error but I am wondering if my tool is insufficient in some way. I can never get a good fill/scrape. It either dosent fully scrape off and im left with a very thin but strong film where holes should be or I do get a clean scrape but not a complete fill and am left with gaps in the actual lace lines. I have tried my plastic scrapers on flat and angled edges and my metal bench scraper. I keep telling myself its just operator error and i just have to get the technique down through practice but, with my background in construction, I have to also consider I may be using the wrong tool and just dont know the differences.

    • @SugarQueenEva
      @SugarQueenEva  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your question. Hmm, there are some things than come to my mind that could be the reason:
      1. The liquid (chocolate, water, glycerin, gelatin) is not warm enough.. maybe it cools down to quickly to be smooth. Try to warm it up a little before pouring into the lace mould.
      2. Maybe the lace mould is too fine for this recipe.
      3. Maybe your gelatin is too strong and the result is too gummy. You can try reducing the grams of the gelatin (try 15 g)
      Hope this helps you. Let me know how it goes:)

      @@KtO680 Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it! Now we are all learning something new:) I love people who love to experiment! Will you be adding the candy melts to the mixture? • @KtO680
      @KtO680 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SugarQueenEva those were exactly the two options I was weighing out in my head, lol. I'm notorious for getting heavy handed with extracts though so I thought I'd try the candy melts first to be on the safe side. I've used your recipe in several other molds and everything always turns out fabulous. It also paints super well, especially for woodgrain, whether its still tacky or fully dry; its kind of like painting clay when leather hard - it absorbs the first few runs of color and eventually builds up to a fabulous layered finish look. Same with stone if you add the coloring to the mold first. Plus, biggest bestest feature of you recipe is clean up and one can never beat that. It peels right off of anything - my silicone mats, my mixing spoons and spatulas, my countertop, the edges of the glass container - its literally just pick, peel, and wipe with a warm wet rag. Spectacular!

      Hi Gilsea! You mean how long can you store the lace? Once it is dry it will last for quite some time, but it will harden with time. Because it contains gelatin it can get moldy if you put it in a plastic box so leave it outside. I do recommend you make it fresh for the cake if you want to shape it or a few days in advance. Yes, you can make it ahead of time. You can store it in the fridge covered with plastic wrap for couple of days, or you can leave it in the room temperature uncovered so it can dry-in this case it will dry in the shape you leave it- it will still be a little flexible, but any folds will stay visible. if there is NOT a lot of humidity in the room, it will last (uncovered) for a long time. I've made wings for Daenerys's dragon and after few years they still look good:) Just don't let it get moldy (humidity).
      You can also apply it to hardened buttercream. Hope this helps you:)

    What kind of chocolate can be used? Can you use chocolate chips? Or does it have to be more expensive chocolate?
    And can I ask what kind of food coloring you use and where I can buy it? I am so sick of wasting money on the Wilton food coloring when after the bottle is opened, it dries out in just a few weeks

    • @SugarQueenEva

      It can be any chocolate. It doesn't have to be expensive one.
      I used silver powder color. Powder colors last a long long time. Hope this helps

    I tried this, but it wouldn't dry. It's possible that because of the humidity where I live, it affected the process. I will try it again another day, but it just didn't work for me this time.

      @SugarQueenEva  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. It is not so much about drying but more about cooling down.. when it cools down it hardens enough to hold together, like chocolate or gelatin on it's own.. it dries after a while if you leave it in room temperature. How long it takes it to dry depends on the humidity. But in any case it should hold together, be stretchy and ready to use. If not, there could be a problem with ingredients or the method of making it. Hope this helps.

      You can just let it dry at the room temperature without covering it. But if you want to shape it later, you can put the lace in the fridge for up to one week.

    Now... How to make this to be non edible and last longer (does it rot?)😭

    • @SugarQueenEva
      @SugarQueenEva  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is meant to be edible. When it's completely dry, it doesn't get moldy, but it depends on the moisture in the air. I kept mine in my studio for several months in the room temperature, but there was not a lot of moisture in the air.
