Found this comic in my public library as a kid. Made a massive impact on me, and I just remembered the name of the comic randomly. Looked it up, and found this video. Thanks for making it
I've been reading comic books all my life; I actually bought Amazing Fantasy #15, because I thought Spider-Man looked cool. Of course, I sold it in 1967 for NOT ENOUGH. That got me into buying everything that had come from Marvel, and, for that matter, DC. PLANETARY is the best damn comic book story I have ever read, second only to WATCHMEN in my humble opinion. A long time between issues, but you can't hurry perfection.
I read this back in the day. Absolutely loved it and is still one of my faves. There was also a cross over with Batman once and another with Spider Jerusalem.
When I started the series and was very iffy but now I have like 9 issues left and I am loving it. It truly is amazing how it is all coming together. I find myself going back to previous issues to look at details I missed that are now important and now I feel like Elijah Snow trying to piece all the puzzles together. Also the art consistently gets better. This is definitely a favorite
Awesome work! Planetary's one of my favorite comics, and you've described things I've never noticed while reading the series! (The discussion of light and shadow in "The Fourth Man" blew my mind!)
speaking of comics that arent embarrassed about being comics, the only one that come to mind is invincible by robert kirkman. I cannot express my love enough for this series. and amazing content btw, i hope for great success in your future.
I think what sold me on Planetary was the Crossing Worlds series especially the juxtaposition with The Authority in some stories where their sharp philosophical difference was laid bare. When Planetary found Doc Brass and the 1930's dimensional super computer, they studied it and the other gathered artifacts to learn and make the world better. The Authority was just satisfied with the immediate problem solved and didn't even care who solved the problem for them or what all this other stuff lying around was.
congratulations on your video! Your love and passion can be felt even through your calm voice! Keep up the good work. Keep comic books and great stories alive!
Just Read The Planetary OMNIBUS A Couple Months Back...Took Me A Week & Change To Finish, But One Of The Most Enjoyable Reads For Me From The Comic World Ever....Warren Ellis Is The Truth
thank you, man! I really appreciate that. I feel this was my most concise work yet and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Tell your friends! or don't, i'm just happy you liked it.
Love your videos, especially the ones on comic books I was wondering if there's a chance you'll make a video on Saga at some point? I feel like that is another great series that is ripe for discussion and analysis
If you like comics and superheros you should try out DC Super sons it's a fun story it's about the journey about son of Superman and Batman teaming up with each other
I cannot consider Planetary a true masterpiece simply because the ending was incredibly disappointing. I hate saying that because of how much I love Planetary. I followed it since damn near it's beginning. It made John Cassidy my favorite artist to this day. It was brilliant and beautiful and it's damn near perfect. But the ending was such a let down. Not the whole ending, but how the final two members of the four were defeated was just so lacking. Plus the fact that it's set in the Wild storm (early on anyway) universe really hurt it. Maybe my standards of a masterpiece are just too high. Damn close though. I loved this book. All Star Superman (which you did a video on) is what I would consider a masterpiece.

My favourite comics of all time - Alan Moore's Captain Britain, Miracle Man and Swamp thing, Warren Ellis's Planetary.

John Cassady is an amazing artist.
My all-time favourite comic.
Ofcourse its not for everyone. Only the worthy may gleam its awesome sauce ness.
Dude what an amazing video I love your perspective.....Where should I start with Warren Ellis Transmetropolitan or Planetry?
Thank you! They're both amazing titles, but I suggest starting with Planetary first since it's significantly shorter and a bit more digestible.
@@RickNazden should I get the absolute edition or the omnibus?
Yooooo Planetary is my JAM!

I had NEVER heard someone call the character "DOCTOR" Savage, it fells very strange for some reason...
I was just going to say EXACTLY THIS.
@@hypnodance Doc IS his nickname, not doctor, though he is a neurosurgeon among other things...
Do Astro City and the Formidables
Goddamn I know what I'm reading tonight
and dont forget freakangels
Very great video. Well done.
Top 5 ;)
How is Harakiri a noir film?
Marvel changed too much. Marvel and DC need to go back to their original universes and drop all SJW/ liberal/ commie propaganda.
EVERYTHING I DON'T LIKE IS COMMUNISM!!!
