I tear up every time I hear this song. I've never served, but I have the most absolute respect for those that did, that are, and those that will serve. I owe them a gratitude I could never repay. I thank all our service men and women and their families for my freedom.
I agree. I don't know what it's like to serve in the military but have nothing but respect for them! I do serve as an EMT and Police Officer while similar it's not the same.........this song always has a way of making me cry because I understand what our way of life costs and it isn't cheap!
My brother passed away last month. He was a crew chief on a c130 during the vietnam war.I found this song on youtube and sent it to him .He said it made him cry as it brought back memories . He had it played at his wake he said it was to honor me. Thank you Rodney for this song . I also want to THANK all you men and women that served to keep us safe.
Love this song. Thank you Radney and all those who helped you with it. Today , especially thank all those men and women who gave there all so we can still enjoy the blessings we have in this great country. Thank you again Radney for this wonderful song.
This song made tears come to my eyes. I love to hear it. I lost a brother in the Korean war.. I respect the military and all they have done, and are still doing.
This song always makes me miss my daddy. He was career Air Force. I think the first couple of lines fit him perfectly. It was a big achievement for a little boy from a coal town, he was so proud of his service.
I am a Vietnam veteran. I was there in 66 and 67. I sing karaoke, but I haven’t found a karaoke version of this song. I would love to sing this song. I live in Corsicana Texas. I would love to get Rodney Foster to come to the Corsicana Opry to honor him and have him sing this song. Maybe someone could make that happen. Bob Way
I had a family friend named Robb, who was also a pilot. Just a few years back, Robb died when the plane he was piloting crashed. In the wake of his passing, I was pretty devastated, but then this song came on the radio, and it just seemed to fit him perfectly, even though he wasn't in the armed forces. After sending this song to his widow, she ended up going to one of Radney's concerts, got to meet him backstage and tell him what this song meant for her. RIP, Robb
I love this song. I grew up just a few miles from Hill Air Force Clearfield Layton UT. I graduated class of 72. Their was a young man in my Spanish class who was drafted into the army 🪖🪖. His basic training was in Biloxi Mississippi. I still think about him and the Vietnam nam veterans all of the time. Thank all men and women you're all hero. God bless each and everyone of you.
thank you for singing this for our lost brothers and sisters. they deserve our utmost respect. I am a 10 year vet and my son has 17 years in and deploys next month. Thank you for remembering our brothers and sisters and giving them the respect they deserve
L love this song First time I heard it made me I don't listen as much as did a couple of years ago.Another song that tugs at my heart and make m cry is Arlington 😮🎉
Everything I hear this song primarily I think of our friends from Patron Fifty and thier buddies from "Namtradet" still on patrol off the coast of Cali.. I also think of the other mishaps in my career (mil&civ) PSA172 25sept78, my last day in boot camp, I saw it. I think of Aloha worked for them. I think of United Ramp 12 and the cargo door worked for them as well and a few others. I recommend this to everyone. Radney thank you for this! You remind me of an old friend :) as well. johnb
I served one of the hardest duties I had was when we lost one of the first friends I developed on my new ship. I had to guard his body in the refrigerator compartment until he was launched on his final trip home. This song rips my heart out every time I hear it. It also reminds me of the cost of freedom. He didn't die in combat, it was a stupid accident but I am sure it hurt his parents just the same. Buddy I am going to see you soon and I will be glad to see you again. Not a suicide thing I am just getting old and am ready to go home. Thank you so very much.
My daughter CW2 Casey Frankoski and CW2 John Grassia pilots killed in a Army helicopter crash on March 8, 2024 took the Angel Flight home to Albany NY. I just want to thank the Air National Guard Unit and crew members from Scotia NY Air Base who brought them home to their families. I know first hand the dedication and the honor the crew members exhibited during the flight to bring these Hero's home. From both the Frankoski and Grassia family THANK YOU!
Unfortunately no one wrote this type of song in 1965 when I was drafted. Saw too many people going to Dover when they left South East Asia. NOBODY CARED!!!
I miss my dad ... thank you ... i've seen too many angel flights as a kid . i didn't know what they were During Vietnam. i believe all children should learn what it means God bless
We are one nation, a family with a shared vision of the quest for freedom, come join with us, we welcome you, because you don't have to serve to appreciate.
Facebook is really ridiculous with things these days. Bullies get away with anything, but, God forbid should anyone stand up against them. Those people who stand up against the bullies get either restricted, or banned altogether. God Bless the USA.
@@pumpkinheadqueen2071 Don't give up friend. America has been in trouble before and she pulled out of it because brave and honorable people stood up and fought back. She'll overcome this. As long as there's one person ready, willing and able to stand in her defense the American spirit will persevere. When you hurt from your soul all the way out and you feel as though a mighty wind is pushing against you and you can't take another step then plant your feet on American dirt and just stand there. And be ready to fight the devil knowing you will win. You Will Win. Spirit to Spirit Heart to Heart 🇺🇲
