Yeah I'm black (West African) and have always thought something was wrong with me for loving country until I first stumbled on Darius's song (this one) last year and realized he's black and sings country! Music is just music, ain't no color to it

Darius, when this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and in jail. Now I have a good job, a husband, and I’m healthy. This song and “Clover Cage - Miraculous” are the two songs that helped with my depression. I just want everyone to know that things will get better. We are in this together. I love you ❤🎉

I guess this cover can be considered country, but the original song is bluegrass. Down-home folk music will always influence pop music. You should check out the original artist: Old Crow Medicine Show. I'd also recommend "I Hear Them All", "Methamphetamine", "Ain't it Enough", and "Down-Home Girl" to get an idea of what they do. Really great band.

Saw Darius for my first concert at Riverbend Cincinnati 8 years ago. Wagon Wheel has always been my favorite from him. Oblivious to the encore after the concert, I was in the parking lot with my mom when he came back on stage to play this song. My mom and I heard it off in the distance and danced with each other in the parking lot until it ended. It turned in to one of my favorite memories ❤️
