This song is from the heart that has been broken. My mom cheated on my dad when he was in Vietnam. She shamed herself. Something broke in dad and he left one day to heal in the wilderness. To this very day I have not seen nor spoken to him. I know he is alive and well. He has another family now. I have not tried to contact him, I don't want to bring the sadness back to him. By reminding him of a life he worked hard to forget. I love you daddy.

This song always hits a littler harder for me, after an experience with a good friend of mine. Zach and I were deployed together on a few occasions, and always had something to talk or laugh about, he was just one of those guys that was super easy to talk to, laid back and easygoing about everything. We came home from his last deployment, and he found his wife with another man. He took his stuff, moved out, and seemed to be handling things as well as he could, given the circumstances. We went to his hotel room to check on him one day, and found him in the chair, with the shotgun on the floor where it had fallen. I love you Zach. You'll always be my brother, and I can't wait to see your smiling face again.

It takes work, therapy even after a husband being a drug addict for over 20 years not just walking away taking everything in the home leaving a few beds on the floor no food and towing a Durango with a husband trying to stop tow driver...changes to a trap house living under bridges and an ex-husband in another relationship completely different from a Clear Window looking in seeing a family being family at a dinner table.
But that 💜 is the worth while, even after all this time like I've been Missing In Action Prisoner Of War in a Nation my Grandfather's before me fought and protected with Medals of Honor...Never Forgotten 💜💜💜

My brothers wife cheated on him while he was away at sea. He was gone for 2 years I’m his little brother I seen her and heard of her cheating. That hardest thing I ever had to do was tell him… he disowned me. Didn’t talk to me for a year.. till one night we talked and I told him blood is always thicker than water.. he divorced her. Me and him are now closer than ever.. he’s married to a good woman now and has a little boy and girl. I have two girls.. if I had not told him I couldn’t imagine the damage that would have been done to both our lives…

My brother died in August. He was way too young and struggled with alcoholism..he fought so hard to beat it. And my own mom drank herself to death and this song makes me think and cry for both of them. He never got over losing her. And in the end I lost both. I wish I could join him some days. God give me strength to face the future without my best friend, my brother.

Then fast forward to 2016 and he has a motorcycle wreck that almost kills him and his wife screws his best friend while he is learning to talk and walk again . There's some shit people out there who pretend to love u but you cant let there issues destroy your life . Now he is raising his two boys on his own and living for his kids .
When my husband joined the army, the person traing them would have them run or train to Joey's got your girl. Trying to make them tough. Yet they were sent out to war thinking they had nothing to come home to 😥
I NEVER did that to my man while he was deployed, but I have seen many women do... bitches! It's takes a strong woman to be a military wife, too bad there are many weak ones out there. Mine never came back, and I miss him every fucking day, It's been 14 years but it's like it happened to me yesterday. I really miss him. every damn day.
I am a the daughter of a soldier who went through this over twenty years ago, this song brings me back to my childhood. Thankfully my parents worked it out, but I saw the pain in my dads eyes and will never forget. Thank you to all those soldiers and sailors out there. Just know there is still hope.

I'm pushing 60. This song will always make me think of my first love Jean. She did me wrong all those years ago. I've spent my life searching and drinking for the answers why. I, personally feel she's brilliant. We always needed to see that side of her, yet rarely have.

I was in a record store the first time I heard her voice. I was wearing Bose headphones and hit "Play" on "Ghost in This House". When she started singing I closed my eyes. Then she sang, "I don't keep this place up, I just keep the lights dim.", and the crystal clarity and perfect purity of her voice exploded in my brain and punched me in the heart. I gasped and grabbed my chest and started to sob. The guy behind the listening desk thought I was having a heart attack. I couldn't hear him so I didn't react to him...I just clutched my chest harder and kept sobbing as her voice continued rippling through my head. Next thing I knew, he had come around the desk and had his arms around my waist and another customer was taking off the head phones. When they realized that I wasn't dying, the employee was annoyed with me for freaking him out but the other customer smiled widely and he said, "Oh brother...I GET it! Who were you listening to?" I told him and he put the headphones on and listened. He was looking at me nodding and smiling and then his eyes opened wide and he inhaled deeply and put his hand on his stomach. His reaction made me start crying again and me crying and her voice in HIS head made HIM cry. We both grabbed the CD and walked to the cash register. We then walked out together and exchanged numbers. We've been friends ever since. ❤

It's these songs that leave behind the concept of genre and simply talk to the core pains we have. Maybe they help us leave some of it behind or bring it out to deal with.
