    Great work. Paint jobs looks really nice.
    Really must get myself one of these. The display stand is a very nice touch I think. I've a couple of the PL 1/1000 TOS Enterprise kits stashed away and always fancied converting one to a TOS style Kelvin. Maybe when my work bench is cleared, I might just do it.

    I'm not a big fan of the new designs for the JJ Star Trek series, but man I love the look and shape of the Kelvin class, its just fantastic. I love what you did with this model, I did see Lou's video where he first showed the masks and it really pays off in the end, especially that nice little pearlescent effect. For the sides, I see what you mean by the gaps and I remember fussing with that on the Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise Refit, and I think that your solution for the styrene really looks the part, and if you hadn't mentioned it I would have thought it was part of the kit, it just fits the ship that well. Brilliant job on this one, I'm so excited to get one of these kits, like I said I love the Kelvin design and I'm thrilled that Moebius molded it in 1:1000 scale to match the rest of my ships.

      Thanks so much for your kind compliments. I know what you mean. Was never a fan of the JJPrise. The Kelvin on the other hand, reminded me a lot of the destroyer class from the old tech manual. As a kid I used to think how cool it would have been to see other variants of the Constitution class design. So when I saw the Kelvin on screen immediately thought it was a cool ship, even though it was a little odd in its configuration. Have fun with the kit. Would love to see pics of your completed Kelvin so feel free to email them to interstellarmodeler@gmail, thanks again.

      I agree with you there, I never really liked the look of that Enterprise. He said he tried to "hot rod" the design, but I don't see that at all, it's kind of a mess, loosing it's elegance. I think you are right on point there, the Kelvin class feels like it fits in with classic Trek. I haven't got to one yet, I'm hoping to build something Trek in the next little while, the last Sci-fi related subject I built was the Bandai Super Star Destroyer, there's a video of it on my channel. I'm thinking of tackling the Polar Lights 1:1000 TOS Enterprise as I've got a more grounded idea on how I want to build it.

      rebelsatcloudnine I’ve come to the conclusion that Abrams is the master of implausibility. Hence the the Enterprise looking like A 57 Chevy flying in atmospheres like an F16 fighter jet or the thousand Star Destroyers stuck in ice. I know none of these things would ever be real but at least try to make things believable. It seems that as long as its convenient to his story, they go for it even though it makes no sense. To me what made Star Trek go beyond just the “creature of the week” is that there was an element of believability. It had to at least be plausible, it tried to be serious about the subject matter. I went off on a tangent here but I think we’re on the same wavelength.

    • @rebelsatcloudnine
      @rebelsatcloudnine 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree completely! There is a bit of fantasy to sci-fi, but people relate to it more when it's grounded in reality, which was one of the big selling points with George Lucas the the original Star Wars movies. All of the models and sets felt real in a way like deja-vu. For me a lot of the new JJ Star Trek felt like a Macintosh store, so clean and polished you could see a reflection in everything. And a lot of drab colors for the uniforms. What's still weird to me is that the first opening moments of the 2009 Star Trek movie with the Kelvin feel like real grounded Star Trek, but it has a tonal shift after that.

    🖖😎👍A very great and wonderfully outstanding job indeed, It came out very spectacular looking after you got it all done and finished with all of the extra detailing and the painting and so forth indeed!, And I myself own 2 of these kits as well one I'm going to build the way that it looks from JJ-verse and the other I'm going to build to more of a TOS look and change out and add various parts to it and the registry number to NCC-1514 in the original Startrek there are no 0's before any numbers after 99 from 100 on up it's just the standard large numbers only!,👌.

      @@InterstellarModeler I don't blame him. I had a fake lego model of this ship given to me, I built a totally new design from the same parts that looked much more aesthetically pleasing. Fantastic job on this! I must say that more and more, I'm doing less lighting in my models. I find that for all the extra work, cost and frustration, I rarely ever turn the lights on after I've had the model for years. Plus having to remember to check on the batteries to make sure there's no acid leaking going on. Most of the time they're on display they aren't lit anyway so I pretty much don't do it anymore.

    • @InterstellarModeler

      Hi and thanks for the kind compliments. Interesting comment, I find myself in the same situation. Something I will definitely consider as I move forward. I am actually kind of glad you didn't light the ship. I liked that choice. I haven't lit any of my Star ships kits and don't really plan to, so seeing one built on TH-cam was really cool. Also glad you used the Aztec Dummy masks.....i watch Lou use them, but they are second nature to him ;) well done sir.

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Bryan. It's easy to get into a mode where you start thinking that you have to light everything because of all the options out there. You almost begin to think that you're missing out on something by not doing so. The person who helped me decide not to light it was Lou. He just felt those windows were too small, in touch areas to cast light and just not worth the effort. Thanks for your compliment and for watching.

    oggie, what is your recommended method to address long seamlines? CY glue?, Sprue Goo?, or puddy?

    • @InterstellarModeler
      @InterstellarModeler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on how significant the seam is. For deeper ones that take more effort i always use putty, sometimes even bondo glaze putty or the the Tamyia white. Another possibility for heavy seams…milliput or Apoxie sculpt. For light seams, CY or Plastruct weld.
