Just did this but I added some poly fill to the inside of the box to deaden it a bit, I highly recommend doing this , it gets rid of any hollow sounds and gives it a deeper bass!
Bro I literally had all of the exact same issues... Like to THE TEE. Especially the blue wire with the white stripe being cut and because of this tutorial I now have base. Thanks!
Dude. Thank you!!! I had almost the same exact issue. JVC deck with one blue tied into steering wheel controls…my 01 Sahara doest have controls lol. Tied all 3 blue together and presto!!! Finally have decent sound! Wish I figured this out last summer the first time I ripped it all apart. Great video and digging the sub. Cheap fix for my old girl. 👍👍
If you take the dust cover and cut out the screen you can use it as a spacer to put underneath the speaker and you won’t have to cut out the plastic parts inside the box
I’m going to do this, seeing how you’re a good idea guy, any idea why the stock speaker had two separate connections, like now I have a brown and grey wire with no use??
I replace my sub with same after watching this video. I went a step further and installed a 5ch amp to power the new sub and all my update speakers. Great top down sound.
Okay so I saw your video, thought, why not, its 17$ and my jeep desperately needs the help in the bass department. Got the speaker and went to put it in, and nothin happened. My jeep had the same issues with the wiring 😂 needless to say it's all right now and the sub sounds so much better, thank you for the help
I purchased a 2006 Rubicon that has a factory 7 speaker configuration. I plan to upgrade the aftermarket stereo and speakers after some much needed maintenance. I haven't found any videos on the rear speakers. There are plenty on front and roll bar speakers and you have made a comprehensive sub video. But do you have a video discussing the far rear speakers or the 7 speaker configuration and their replacement?
You probably figured it out by now, but the 7 speaker system consists of 1 subwoofer + 2 sound bar speakers + 4 front speakers. The 4 front speakers consist of 2 (1 tweeter, and 1 mid) mounted together in the location where the 4x6s typically would be in a 4 speaker system.
I just started working on mine tonight! I hope I don’t run into the same wiring issues you did! Wish I could include a picture because mine came from a beach Jeep so it was sandy & rusty & falling apart!
Sweet pool and backyard. I like that Torx wrench set, do you remember where you got it or which one it is? Just replaced my speakers with the Kicker plug-and-play options and it is definitely an upgrade over the factory TJ option!
As much as I want to stick with the TJ I think the wife did it better. We (my kids and I) enjoy her energy in both her voice and host style. Thanks for another quality vid fam!
You guys are awesome! Please tell me where you can purchase the center console that allows you to install a subwoofer, I searched everywhere, and not finding one. I have a Jeep Wrangler 2006 SE TJ manual transmission. Thank you so much!!!
Hey guys. Got a 2005 TJ Wrangler renegade. Came with stock 6 speakers, sub and I assume there is an amp in the centre console with the sub. Looking to replace stereo. Do you know if amp and sub still work with aftermarket stereo? Or do I need special converters?
@@Garagecouple sweet. So just a standard JT harness and splice with the new Stereo iso? Sub and amp powered via exisiting harness setup but controlled via iso connecter to new Stereo? Major jeep noob here had it 10 years and never done any mods n
I think i blew my stock amp by using the kicker 1 ohm. It worked and sounded good but then suddenly nothing. I check the fuse and it seemed ok. Any ideas? Or ideas to find a replacement stock one?
Showing off your nice, green lawn, and we just got a ton of snow, haha! You need to clean your Jeep, though! I also totally didn't realize the sub could be replaced by an aftermarket - but I've only had mine out once to install my Tuffy console - Maybe someday I'll try that sub as well (if you guys recommend it, haha)!
We really like the speaker! It sounds great right out of the box, and continues to get more and more full over time. Would highly recommend for the price of 3 coffees!
Aileen did it better!! I hope i spelled your name right. I think you do the best together!!! Love when she pranks you. 🤪 i wanted that table😢 maybe I’ll win in the future!!! Thanks for the show!!!! I love learning about jk’s because I have one.
I just picked up a Jeep TJ and cant believe how much I am falling in love with it. I did just post a video on my channel about it if your interested in having a look
the 4 wires from the amp is for a dual voice coil subwoofer, the best way I found to add bass to my tj taking minimal space was to get a 10" powered subwoofer from Rockford Fosgate P300 series awesome sound in a small space and has built in amp and is plug and play
If it's true that the factory amp is set up for a dual voice coil subwoofer, a Pyle PLPW6D looks to be a better choice IF the Jeep enclosure volume is around 0.5 cu ft. It's also a more efficient driver. The one star reviews on the one recommended in this video are enough to keep me from ordering it and if the amp is setup for dvc then that definitely kills it.
Great episode by Greg. I don’t own a Jeep but I’m saving up for one. I keep watching your videos because there educational and makes me want a Jeep so badly.lol Keep it up Garage Couple 🤘
Haha video idea is either cleaning or getting your JK cleaned, that's filthy! Mainly joking but still lol. Aileens was tad better, but yawl do it better together as Luke Combs new song goes lol

The Pyle PLPW6D is a dual voice with 4 connections. It is the recommended sub on all the TJ/LJ forums.
Good call!
Is the connection process different for these model?
@@holedem26 the Pyle uses screw down connections. I just snipped the terminals off of my stock wiring. It’s super easy.
Jimmy, I'm literally installing the speaker from the video as we speak. Is it worth it to return it for the plpw6d? Is the difference worth it?
We've had both. You wouldn't know the difference.
I replace my sub with same after watching this video. I went a step further and installed a 5ch amp to power the new sub and all my update speakers. Great top down sound.
Awesome!
Loved the intro. I always bump my knees on tables, chairs, you name it lol.
Lol! The struggle is real!
I see that you finally hit 10K subscribers. Congratulations!
Thank you so much!!!
Congrats tyler! I really like the upgrade in sound you got from those speakers. I'm definitely going to give this upgrade a go.
Let us know what you think!
I would add some poly fill so that you can get a crisper sound without crazy vibrations
Good call!
Hi Jose, you would put this in the casing of the subwoofer? Is that correct?
@@ForsakenGod23 yes

Nice! Let us know what you think!
I don’t see a link for the $17 speaker. Also, it looks like you had to drill new holes for the sub to fit in the consul?
Its in our amazon shop! Link in description. and We did not have to drill new holes, just used self tapping screws

Ebay

How does the sub gets the signal with the non factory stereo? Congrats on the easiest video I’ve seen on changing the sub, all your content is great.

I Love my TJ
based on your radio station that played in the video, we live in the same area, yay...

Hmm my center subwoofer doesn't work.. I am going to look into this. As usual great video!!
Did it work?

Yes it is! Enjoy the upgrade!
Wow, impressive response time!
Great vid y'all!
Is the subwoofer a Rubicon option?
I'm not sure.. it may be standard on the Rubicon..our sahara had it too

Did you need to buy an amp to run this speaker?
Nope. The factory amp as shown in the video.
What size fenders are those?
4 inch high rise metalcloak
@@Garagecouple ok thanks!!!
Is there an amp in this system powering the sub?
Yes factory Amp

Located in the center console

Can a sub like this be added to a 97 TJ console?
As long as it has a factory sub!
@@Garagecouple no sub, I was just thinking maybe I cut cut a hole and make that console and enclosure
@@michaelclld totally could or just go to a junkyard and buy one with the enclosure and don't forget the amp!
How have these held up so far?

Pyle of $hit. It has a plastic basket which will cause the speaker to distort. Spend the money and get a Kicker 6.5 sub.
3 years later and still no distortion...
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it

A 6.5”…… 🤨…… if you don’t feel it it your chest… it’s not a real sub. Put a low profile 12 in the back.. 👌. Or 10” minimum.
Check out the low pro we put in in a later video
