I'm so happy I found this channel. Never really had anybody talk music with me. Lol My top 5: 5. Yes - Ritual 4. Rush - Natural Science 3. U.K. - Carrying No Cross 2. Pink Floyd - Echoes 1. King Crimson - Starless
The Best Closer in my opinion, is Won't get Fooled again by The Who. Here are some others; Pink Floyd - Echoes Judas Priest - One shot at glory Iron Maiden - To Tame a Land Grateful Dead - Casey Jones/Truckin/Weather Report Suite Led Zeppelin - Bring it on Home The Doors - The End Opeth - To Bid You Farewell Yes - Survival Uriah Heep - The Spell Styx - Suite Madam Blue Genesis - Supper's Ready Scorpions - Lonesome Crow Thin Lizzy - Emerald REO Speedwagon - Golden County (Both from TWO and Live) Blue Oyster Cult - Astronomy Dream Theater - Learning to Live Slipknot - Iowa
You also picked what I assumed were a few "no-brainers", like "Won't Get Fooled again, "Supper's Ready", "Echoes" and "Astronomy", but when you're dealing with grown men fixated on bands with names like Satan, and kiddie crap like Kiss, etc., etc., apparently there's, literally, a serious lack of brains among them.
My favorites: 5. Strike Of The Beast (Exodus) 4. Solitude (Overkill) 3. Only The Good Die Young (Iron Maiden) 2. Raining Blood (Slayer) 1. Damage Inc (Metallica)
Great episode everyone! Nothing like the Hudson Valley Squares to brighten up my day! My five picks are: 1) "The Show Must Go On" from Queen's 'Innuendo' (1991) 2) "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" from AC/DC's 'Back in Black' (1980) 3) "The Outlaw Torn" from Metallica's 'Load' (1996) 4) "Alexander the Great" from Iron Maiden's 'Somewhere in Time' (1986) 5) "The Writ" from Black Sabbath's 'Sabotage' (1975)

"And you said I'd have no competition for Necrocock" 17. "Sounds like if Motorhead was really, really into Satan. That's all I'm gonna say" 18. Butch to Steve: " Are you sure that's the last song" 19. "There's a god in my soup" 20. Shit busters and shit demons.... 21. Steve: "So the albums all about poop" Ralph: "Pretty much" 22. We have an appearance from Ryan's dog at 1 hour 14 minutes and 42 seconds of the show...
That's awesome Butch my chemistry teacher Mr. Winterburn in high school was really into classical music and I lent him the first two Yngwie records to him and he really dug them. A very cool feeling as he was a great teacher. Bless you Sir!
1. Thin Lizzy - Emerald 2. Bad Company - Seagull 3. Led Zeppelin - How Many More Times 4. The Beatles - A Day In the Life 5. Nazareth - Please Don't Judas Me
1) Lonely is the Word 2) Hallowed Be Thy Name 3) The Garden - Rush "Clockwork Angels" - Neil's last song on the last album about what a person leaves behind when they are gone. Makes me emotional every time I listen 4) La Villa Strangiato 5) Say Goodbye - Allied Forces (Triumph)
In no particular order: Keeper Of The Seven Keys - Helloween, Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden, Glory to the Brave - Hammerfall, And the story Ends - Blind Guardian, A Sorcerer's Pledge - Candlemass Honorable: Karnstein Castle - Briton Rites, Battle Hymn - Manowar, EDIT: Missed one (my excuse is it was 5 am, I am not getting the olds yet!): Treasure Island - Running Wild
Awsome Craig that you picked Dangerous But Worth the Risk. That record has been in heavy rotation recently and always thought it a great bookend. What a fun yet serious and mature record for them.
@@remnantsofasoundblast While the first side of this LP contains 4 of the most iconic tracks in rock history, side two is not exactly chopped liver. They definitely saved one of the best for last. 'Levee' rocks!
"Mistral Wind" is a PERFECT pick!! Talk about "epic" endings!!! They couldn't think of that with all the burn out death metal flying around in their heads...
Hi Guys and Karen. Excellent show. Pete and Butch, you were pretty accurate with your picks from the other episode. You guys picked the majority of mine (Maiden, Priest, Mercyful Fate, Megadeth, Rainbow, Accept, Metallica). I have a few so here goes. 1. Queensryche - Eyes Of A Stranger 2. Frank Marino - Juggernaut 3. Candlemass - A Sorcerer's Pledge or Lucifer Rising ( Death Magic Doom) 4. Rush - La Villa Strangiato 5. Symphoony X - The Odyssey 6. Black Sabbath - Warning or Lonely Is The Word 7. Blue Oyster Cult - Astronomy 8. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird 9. Scorpions - Lonesome Crow 10. Steely Dan - The Royal Scam
1. Eyes of A Stranger ('Ryche) 2. Billy's Got A Gun (Leppard) 3. Hook In Mouth ('Deth) 4. Devil's Child (Priest) 5. Damge, Inc. ('Talica) Pissed I forgot about "Diary of a Madman" and "Love To Love". I'd probably take out #4 and #5 for those. So many choices...
Some of my favs in no particular order...Magnum Opus - Kansas, Riders On The Storm - The Doors, Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End - The Beatles, Green Grass & High Tides - The Outlaws, Prelude 12/Suite Madam Blue - Styx.
For those who haven't seen the videos, and for those who missed the supremely awesome Hell's Heroes Fest in Houston, Tom Warrior played a Hellhammer set one night and a Celtic Frost set to close out the festival. What was so unique about it was that the band played the songs near the original keys and in the correct tempos, something they've been much more experimental with in recent years. I highly recommend everyone find the videos and check them out.
Tough to only pick 5 so will stick to one per artist/group. In no particular order: Black Sabbath-Sabotage-The Writ The Beatles-Revolver-Tomorrow Never Knows KISS-KISS-Black Diamond Queen-Innuendo-The Show Most Go On Iron Maiden-Powerslave-Rime of the Ancient Mariner … and many more. 🎶 🎸
Butch coming in at the last minute mentioning Shame On The Night! First song that came to my mind when I saw the subject of the show. ...and did anybody mention Vital Signs? Can't remember.
Haven’t listened to the squares in a while. Always love to get schooled by Ryan, Nick, and now Ralf; where do they find that stuff? Some great songs in there: Limb From Limb, Emerald, Cygnus X-1 Book 1. I would add Little Bit of Sympathy by Trower. How about the fantastic ballad You See Me Crying! I must say that it’s much tougher to name closers than openers.
Phenomenal show as usual. Loved every minute. A quick 5 from me: Spiral Architect - Black Sabbath Lost Horizons - Michael Schenker Group Dallas 1PM - Saxon Princess of the Dawn - Accept Battle Hymn - Manowar
I don't know about best song but goddamn it's a good ass I feel underrated megadeth song, top 5 of theirs, everytime I hear it I get pumped up. I get psychtron just randomly pop into my head, I say that's my favorite meg album!! Even with some of the songs me being tired of hearing them.
Some awesome picks for album closers. Here are 5 of my favorite album closers that came to mind right away (no order). 1. Nechochwen - Across the Divide from Kanawha Black (2022, blackened folk metal/progressive rock/death metal) 2. My Chemical Romance - Famous Last Words from The Black Parade (2006, alternative rock/emo) 3. Wormrot - Glass Shards from Hiss (2022, grindcore) 4. Rise Against - Survive from The Sufferer & The Witness (2006, melodic hardcore) 5. Nirvana - All Apologies from In Utero (1993, grunge/alternative rock/punk rock/noise rock)
Rush - Natural Science, Between The Wheels, La Villa Strangiato Marillion - Neverland Queen - The Show Must Go On Rainbow - A Light In The Black Thin Lizzy - Roisin Dubh
Excellent, I’m not really an extreme metal fan, but today marks my first Ryan recommendation I really liked and will investigate further, Zemial In monumentum was very good.
5. This Heat's Testcard (This Heat) 4. Brian Eno's Taking Tiger Mountain (Taking Tiger Mountain) 3. Cybotron's Sonic Overide (Cybotron) 2. Joy Division's I Remember Nothing (Unknown Pleasures) 1. David Bowie's Subterraneans (Low) HMs: The Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows (Revolver), King Crimson's Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part III (Three of a Perfect Pair), Rush's Between the Wheels (Grace Under Pressure), The Smiths' Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others (The Queen is Dead) and MF Doom's Kookies (MM...FOOD) Thanks for the program!
My 5 Top Album Closers 1. Dark Funeral - Secrets of The Black Arts 2. Mayhem - De Myseriis Dom Sathanas 3. Darkthrone - Pagan Winter 4. Morbid Angel - Hatework 5. Bolt Thrower - When Cannons Fade
Pink Floyd - Echoes Led Zeppelin - When the levee breaks Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great Haken - Visions BÖC - Astronomy Candlemass - A sorcerer's pledge Genesis - Supper's ready Gentle Giant - In a glass house Rush - La Villa Strangiato Yes - Heart of the sunrise The Doors - The end Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo child Allman Brothers Band - Whipping post Fleetwood Mac - Gold dust woman
My Top 5: Queen - Was It All Worth It Whitesnake - Sailing Ships Iron Maiden - Alexander The Great Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys Kiss - Black Diamond
The one that instantly came to mind is "The End" from the Doors' debut. Also, in no particular order..... "The Garden" from Rush. The final track on their final album, Clockwork Angels. "When the Levee Breaks" from Led Zeppelin IV. I'm sick of the album and haven't listened to it in years but this song is still great. "The Fountain of Salmacis" from the Genesis album Nursery Crime. "Jungleland" from Bruce's Born to Run. SImply amazing. Thanks, Pete.
Some faves (not ranked): 1. Queen - "The Show Must Go On" (Innuendo) 2. Deep Purple - "Hard Lovin' Man" (Deep Purple in Rock) 3. Meshuggah - "Elastic" (Chaosphere) 4. Death - "Killing Spree" (Spiritual Healing) 5. Live - "White, Discussion" (Throwing Copper) [Note: not counting the hidden track] 6. Magma - "De Futura" (Udu Wudu) 7. Todd Rundgren - "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire" (Initiation) 8. Rush - "Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage" (A Farewell to Kings) 9. Warren Zevon - "Desperados Under the Eaves" (Warren Zevon) 10. Cher - "After All" (Heart of Stone) 11. Kate Bush - "This Woman's Work" (The Sensual World) Countless others...
I'm just going to take Pete's advice and go with the ones that come to mind. 1. I'm Gonna Crawl- Led Zeppelin Beautiful and sad. It sounds just like what it would become- the end of an era. 2. Going Home- Rolling Stones From the American edition of Aftermath. The UK had more songs but I think the US has the better cover. 3. Someday Never Comes- CCR The closing track from the Chronicle compilation. Originally from Mardi Gras, everybody's least favorite CCR album (even that had a gem on it) 4. Starship Trooper- Yes From Yessongs. After over 2 hours of Yes, they kicked it off with my favorite 5. Medley: Voodoo Chile/Star Spangled Banner/ Purple Haze/ Villanova Junction- Jimi Hendrix Woodstock soundtrack. Jimi Hendrix agreed to play on the condition we could close the festival. And what a conclusion! Other worthy mentions: The Show Must Go On- Queen Much like Led Zeppelin 's In Through The Out Door, a farewell song before a farewell was official The Soft Parade- Doors They saved the best for last here! I'm A Boy- The Who (Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy) From the perfect compilation!
Kudos for bringing up On Fire (Van Halen) Dirty Women ( Black Sabbath), Metal Militia ( Metallica), Cygnus X1 (Rush), To tame a Land (Maiden) and I nearly thought you were going to miss this one : I believe in you ( Y&T) the epic closer of their Earthshaker masterpiece! A couple more: Queensryche: roads to madness Deep Purple : you keep on moving ( fantastic!) Anthrax : howling furies Pink Floyd : echoes Holocaust: the nightcomers Dream Theater: the count of Tuscany
Wishbone Ash - Throw Down the Sword King Crimson - Starless Fleetwood Mac - Why Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) ***FREE BIRD!!!!*** The Skynyrd fans have spoken Van Der Graaf Generator - Childlike Faith in Childhood's End Many honorable mentions: Judas Priest - Island of Domination, Black Sabbath - Over and Over, Renaissance - Song of Scheherazade, Blue Öyster Cult - Astronomy, Pink Floyd - Echoes, Kansas - Death of Mother Nature Suite, The Doors - The End. So many others that were mentioned and are still flashing in my head.
I can beat Butch. We were studying Rime in English class senior year. Like Butch, I told my teacher about the song and she listened to it. Next day we listened to it in class! My favorite moment in my senior year!
Staying away for the obvious Hallowed be thy name, Levee Breaks, Into the Void, Tush, Echoes, You Can't always get and Whole Lotta Rosie etc. to mention some others - Don't wake the Lion - Magnum (Wings of Heaven). As Steven Reid would state, this takes you on "a journey" and then some. Perhaps one of the greatest anti-war epics ever written, and it remains quintessentially Magnum. Shooting Stars - Rival Sons (Feral Roots). Simply put, the best closer on a hard rock album I've heard in decades. Incredible end to a great album. Hell On Earth - Iron Maiden (Senjutsu). Can't wait to hear this live as it could well become their new Fear of the Dark. Skyfall - Helloween. The band throw everything at this track, making you smile ear to ear. Billy's got a gun - Def Leppard (Pyromania). Ends the album on a bleak and slightly sombre note, providing the album with some gravitas. Sailing Ships - Whitesnake (Slip of the tongue). This is a reminder that Mr. Coverdale is a formidable songwriter and can deliver beyond wine, women, and "simple" song. High Hopes - Beautifully crafted, it's simply lush and gorgeous. The grass was greener... Princess of the Dawn - Accept (Restless & Wild). On any other Accept album, this could open rather than close. The Garden - Rush (Clockwork Angels). The most fitting way to close not just an album but a huge musical chapter. "The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect, so hard to earn so easily burned. In the fullness of time a garden to nurture and protect". The garden is a poignant metaphor for life. It's equally hopeful and heart-breaking at the same time. It makes me weep with gratitude for the music these three gentlemen have gifted us and also mourn for the loss for music that potentially was yet to come. Like everyone, I wish we could see them live one more time. The professor. Sorely missed and fondly remembered, now tending your own garden. Allahumma man 'ahyaytahu minnaa fa'ahyihi 'alal-'Islaami, wa man tawaffaytahu minnaa fatawaffahu 'alal-'eemaani, Allahumma laa tahrimnaa 'ajrahu wa laa tudhillanaa ba'dahu. (Islamic prayer for loved ones who have passed away)
I’m shocked nobody mentioned one closer from any one of Dokken’s first 3 albums. Here’s some low hanging fruit, Eyes of a Stranger. Rush’s Between the Wheels is a strong closer as is Vital Signs.
5. Tool - third eye - aenima 4 Faith No More - just a man - king for a day fool for ... 3 Metallica- Dyers Eve - ...and justice for all 2 Oceansize - The Vorhees - Frames 1 Failure - Daylight. - Fantastic Planet
I can totally relate to that English teacher story. I had a few great teachers like that. Also later in life, I relished telling some friends who were Tolkien fans about Blind Guardian's 'Nightfall In Middle Earth' and how it was inspired by The Silmarillion. I let them hear it and they were extremely impressed. One good friend who is sadly no longer with us even came to see Blind Guardian with me in 2010 after I turned him on to their stuff.
My 5 Favorite Album Closers right now are in no particular order : 1) Iron Maiden : To Tame A Land 2) Extreme : Hole Hearted 3) The Beatles : A Day In The Life 4) Kiss : Black Diamond 5) Ozzy Osbourne : Diary Of A Madman.
Great show guys. Lots of expected classics and some less familiar stuff to discover! It's impossible to limit choices to just five, so I'll stick with the heavier bands and avoid ones already mentioned. First I'll acknowledge the obvious Maiden closers, Ozzy, Metallica, Slayer, and Sabbath (I'm fine with "Over and Over" from Mob Rules, absolutely belongs). My top 5: 1. Heads or Tails, Treasure Island, Genesis - Running Wild (Take your pick, all great. They took a page out of the Maiden handbook with epic closing tracks.) 2. Overkill I / Sonic Reducer - Overkill (I suppose it depends which version of their first album you have; can't argue with either, the second being a killer cover of The Dead Boys.) 3. Shout It Out - Lion (From 1987's "Dangerous Attraction". Heavier and more talented than your average "hair" band; I believe where guitarist Doug Aldrich got his start.) 4. Ballbreaker - AC/DC (Heavy, gritty, and Brian found his voice; standout track on an underappreciated album.) 5. War Machine - KISS (Classic anthem from their comeback "Creatures" album, still a concert staple to this day.) Honorable mentions: 6. Hands of Time - Y&T (Pete and Butch mentioned "Winds of Change" and "I Believe in You"; both great, but how about this one from an excellent, underrated album?) 7. I Will Remember - Queensryche ("Eyes of a Stranger" belongs as well, but this one, along with the entire album, exemplified the versatility they possessed.) 8. Rod of Iron - Lizzy Borden (Bryce will appreciate this one! Killer closing track from classic 1st album "Love You to Pieces." These guys should have been much bigger.) 9. Monster of Rock - Judas Priest (From "Ram It Down", which to me is unfairly ridiculed. Sure there's some synth-pop carryover from "Turbo" but plenty of heavy anthems.) 10. The Horror - W.A.S.P. (Inconsistency has hurt them, but "KFD" was strong in spite of its industrial leanings--as close as they got to the classic 1st album: angry, heavy, and vulgar.) 11. Ghosts & Thunder - Soilwork (One of the best "Melodeath" bands that never seems to get the respect they deserve; from their "The Ride Majestic" album--brilliant.) 12. Doom Over Dead Man - Amon Amarth (The Swedish Death Metallers have been producing epic closers since the beginning; this is just one among many.) 13. O Father, O Satan, O Son - Behemoth (Standout closer from the Black-Death band that continued to evolve and finally get some recognition.)
I know an album ender is almost sinonimous with epic, but what about "we wish you well" from Whitesnake? Just minute and a half but for me it's a beautiful, endearing way of finishing the album, always leaves me with a good vibe. Thanks 🍺🤘

Roads to Madness from Queensryche The Warning also comes to Mind, as does Eyes of a Stranger and Anybody Listening. La Villa Strangiato and The Garden from Rush as well. And Black Rose and Love To Love from Lizzy and UFO also win the day. Sting Fortress Around Your Heart is also a sentimental favourite.

In no particular times, here’s mine: Rat Trap, Boomtown Rats from Tonic For The Troops Seven Seas of Rhye from Queen II Back On The Road Again, REO Speedwagon from 9 Lives Don’t Bring Me Down, ELO from Discovery Billy’s Got A Gun, Def Leppard from Pyromania Honorary mentions: In A Simple Rhyme, Van Halen from Women & Children 1st Black Rose, Thin Lizzy Piledriver, Damn Yankees Pawns & Kings, Alter Bridge from the album of the same name
@Craig Kaminski I asked before the end hoping that someone would mention it. Always one of my favorite closers. Thanks for mentioning it, and thanks for replying!
So many great closing tracks mentioned in the conversation and comments. To Tame a Land, Alexander the Great, Under the Sun, Into the Void, Emerald, Black Rose, Orgasmatron, Out of the Sun, One Shot at Glory, Dissident Aggressor, Cygnus x-1, Melissa, Loudness: Devil Soldier, Ashes in your Mouth, Rust in Peace…Polaris, Outer Isolation by Vektor, Hidden Genocide by Gorod, War Machine, Diary of a Madman… tons of other too🤘🏻
I decided to try to suggestion at the beginning of the show of the first 5 that popped into my head, in no particular order: 1)Tomb Mold: Two Worlds Become One 2)Havukruunu: Tähti-Yö Ja Hevoiset 3)Metallica: Damage Inc 4)Opeth: Blackwater Park 5)Wilderun: When the Fire and the Rose Were One
AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie ( Let There Be Rock ) KISS - Strange Ways ( Hotter Than Hell ) Guns N Roses - Rocket Queen ( Appetite For Destruction ) Metallica - Damage Inc. ( Master of Puppets ) Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman ( Diary of a Madman )
One I would have to include would be "Dante's Inferno" on Iced Earth's 'Burnt Offerings', with the haunting, somber, melancholic and extremely appropriate lead-in provided by "Pierced Spirit." I've always considered those two numbers as almost a single piece, simply because they fit together so well and convey an atmosphere of pure Gothic grandeur and gloom. Matt's vocals on that entire album.....true perfection. I had read Dante's Divine Comedy in high school Italian class in both English and Italian, and thus was beyond psyched when I got into Iced Earth a few years later and discovered that they had crafted a 15-minute epic centered on a masterpiece of medieval literature as well as one of the most significant works in the entire Western canon.
I love that Ryan Skow considers Opeth way too commercial/not death metal enough for his tastes and he can be on the same show as Bryce waving the flag a WASP song that came out before he was born. This show is very entertaining :)
Off the top of my head; 1. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird 2. Marillion - Neverland 3. Rush - The Garden 4. Savatage - Devastation 5. Cradle of Filth - Haunted Shores
my quickie 5: the doors - the end, van halen - on fire, ozzy - diary of a madman, zeppelin - when the levee breaks, anthrax - gung ho, jimi hendrix - are you experienced / voodoo child (tie)
Ok. This time I will try to limit my choices 😂 Avenged Sevenfold - Save Me Blind Guardian - And the story ends Bullet for my Valentine - The End Dio - Shame on the night Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark Led Zeppelin - When the levee breaks Linkin Park - The little things give you away Metallica - The call of ktulu Metallica - The Outlaw Torn Pink Floyd - Echoes Pink Floyd - High Hopes Saxon - Denim and leather Silent Civilian - Live Again Thrice - Beyond the pines
Sorry guys but I love both Lonely is the Word and Over and Over! But thanks Pete for mentioning Fairies Wear Boots and double thanks to Craig for mentioning On Fire! One if the best album closers ever!!!!
I'm a Dio freak bro! Like that's all I listened to for a year, there was a time during that where I would put on the mob and skip to over and over and just listen to that from the album that's how good of a closer it is!
My top 10: AC/DC - Night Prowler Alice In Chains - Would? Black Sabbath - Under the Sun Corrosion of Conformity - In the Arms of God The Doors - Riders of the Storm Down - Bury Me in Smoke Guns N Roses - Coma Pantera - I’ll Cast a Shadow Prince - Purple Rain Type O Negative - Gravitational Constant

Great list..
Won’t Get Fooled Again has the best scream in hard rock history. YEEAAHHHH!

Takeaways from tonight's episode:
First a note: due to working late, I was unable to watch the "Wet fart in church" episode until later in the week last time; hence if you were looking for takeaways, I didn't post them...but I'm back today

Thanks Michael ! This is one of the best takeaway lists ever....
You missed Michael I got competition for the cock one
That's awesome Butch my chemistry teacher Mr. Winterburn in high school was really into classical music and I lent him the first two Yngwie records to him and he really dug them. A very cool feeling as he was a great teacher. Bless you Sir!

A Sorcerer's Pledge - Candlemass
Honorable:
Karnstein Castle - Briton Rites,

EDIT: Missed one (my excuse is it was 5 am, I am not getting the olds yet!):
Treasure Island - Running Wild
Awsome Craig that you picked Dangerous But Worth the Risk. That record has been in heavy rotation recently and always thought it a great bookend. What a fun yet serious and mature record for them.
Rush - A Farewell to Kings - Cygnus X-1, Book I: The Voyage (My favorite Rush album too)
Cygnus
Love to hear a Zemial shout, that's a fantastic album! Also agree that you could throw a dart at 80s Manowar and hit a great closing track!
3 of my all time favorite closers:
When the Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin, IV
Mistral Wind - Heart, Dog and Butterfly
Would? - Alice in Chains, Dirt
Levee is a perfect closer isn't it?!
@@remnantsofasoundblast
While the first side of this LP contains 4 of the most iconic tracks in rock history, side two is not exactly chopped liver. They definitely saved one of the best for last. 'Levee' rocks!
@@pokerface8242 agree 100%
"Mistral Wind" is a PERFECT pick!! Talk about "epic" endings!!! They couldn't think of that with all the burn out death metal flying around in their heads...
La Villa Strangiato on Hemispheres!
Best instrumental ever

1. Eyes of A Stranger ('Ryche)
2. Billy's Got A Gun (Leppard)
3. Hook In Mouth ('Deth)
4. Devil's Child (Priest)
5. Damge, Inc. ('Talica)
Pissed I forgot about "Diary of a Madman" and "Love To Love". I'd probably take out #4 and #5 for those. So many choices...
"A Day In The Life" ain't too shabby.
Rush - Working Man!
Great one
For those who haven't seen the videos, and for those who missed the supremely awesome Hell's Heroes Fest in Houston, Tom Warrior played a Hellhammer set one night and a Celtic Frost set to close out the festival. What was so unique about it was that the band played the songs near the original keys and in the correct tempos, something they've been much more experimental with in recent years. I highly recommend everyone find the videos and check them out.
Tough to only pick 5 so will stick to one per artist/group. In no particular order:
Black Sabbath-Sabotage-The Writ
The Beatles-Revolver-Tomorrow Never Knows
KISS-KISS-Black Diamond
Queen-Innuendo-The Show Most Go On
Iron Maiden-Powerslave-Rime of the Ancient Mariner
… and many more. 🎶 🎸
Rob, GREAT call on Temple of Circadia!! Crushing tune to end a great album!!
👊😎
A quick 5 from me:
Spiral Architect - Black Sabbath
Lost Horizons - Michael Schenker Group
Dallas 1PM - Saxon
Princess of the Dawn - Accept
Battle Hymn - Manowar
Gotta agree with Bryce that "Ashes in your mouth" is the best song of Countdown album. Amazing tune! ✊
Love the guitar tone on Ratt's 'Invasion of Your Privacy'. Great album! And gorgeous Tawny Kitaen on the cover. R.I.P!

High hopes - Pink Floyd would be my 1st choice
My Top 5:
Queen - Was It All Worth It
Whitesnake - Sailing Ships
Iron Maiden - Alexander The Great
Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys
Kiss - Black Diamond
The one that instantly came to mind is "The End" from the Doors' debut. Also, in no particular order.....
"The Garden" from Rush. The final track on their final album, Clockwork Angels.
"When the Levee Breaks" from Led Zeppelin IV. I'm sick of the album and haven't listened to it in years but this song is still great.
"The Fountain of Salmacis" from the Genesis album Nursery Crime.
"Jungleland" from Bruce's Born to Run. SImply amazing.
Thanks, Pete.
The end is epic
The End is great, however, Riders on the Storm closing LA Woman is an amazing exit.
The Garden
Some faves (not ranked):
1. Queen - "The Show Must Go On" (Innuendo)
2. Deep Purple - "Hard Lovin' Man" (Deep Purple in Rock)
3. Meshuggah - "Elastic" (Chaosphere)
4. Death - "Killing Spree" (Spiritual Healing)
5. Live - "White, Discussion" (Throwing Copper) [Note: not counting the hidden track]

8. Rush - "Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage" (A Farewell to Kings)
9. Warren Zevon - "Desperados Under the Eaves" (Warren Zevon)
10. Cher - "After All" (Heart of Stone)
11. Kate Bush - "This Woman's Work" (The Sensual World)
Countless others...
Cygnus
I'm just going to take Pete's advice and go with the ones that come to mind.
1. I'm Gonna Crawl- Led Zeppelin
Beautiful and sad. It sounds just like what it would become- the end of an era.
2. Going Home- Rolling Stones
From the American edition of Aftermath. The UK had more songs but I think the US has the better cover.
3. Someday Never Comes- CCR
The closing track from the Chronicle compilation. Originally from Mardi Gras, everybody's least favorite CCR album (even that had a gem on it)
4. Starship Trooper- Yes
From Yessongs. After over 2 hours of Yes, they kicked it off with my favorite
5. Medley: Voodoo Chile/Star Spangled Banner/ Purple Haze/ Villanova Junction- Jimi Hendrix
Woodstock soundtrack. Jimi Hendrix agreed to play on the condition we could close the festival. And what a conclusion!
Other worthy mentions:
The Show Must Go On- Queen
Much like Led Zeppelin 's In Through The Out Door, a farewell song before a farewell was official
The Soft Parade- Doors
They saved the best for last here!
I'm A Boy- The Who (Meaty Beaty Big And Bouncy) From the perfect compilation!
Must be nice, all the concerts up there, almost nothing here in n. Florida
A couple more:
Queensryche: roads to madness
Deep Purple : you keep on moving ( fantastic!)
Anthrax : howling furies
Pink Floyd : echoes
Holocaust: the nightcomers
Dream Theater: the count of Tuscany
Cygnus
Wishbone Ash - Throw Down the Sword
King Crimson - Starless
Fleetwood Mac - Why
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
***FREE BIRD!!!!*** The Skynyrd fans have spoken
Van Der Graaf Generator - Childlike Faith in Childhood's End
Many honorable mentions: Judas Priest - Island of Domination, Black Sabbath - Over and Over, Renaissance - Song of Scheherazade, Blue Öyster Cult - Astronomy, Pink Floyd - Echoes, Kansas - Death of Mother Nature Suite, The Doors - The End. So many others that were mentioned and are still flashing in my head.
I can beat Butch. We were studying Rime in English class senior year. Like Butch, I told my teacher about the song and she listened to it. Next day we listened to it in class! My favorite moment in my senior year!
Great show! My number one pick would be Eyes of a Stranger by Queensrÿche
I came here to say that! Lol
I can’t believe nobody mentioned Astronomy from BOC on Secret Treaties!!
And an obscure one would be the title track Endless Skies from Ashbury.
Black Sabbath's version of "The Warning". A jam session essentially. Sabbath showing what it was capable of and where it was going.
Staying away for the obvious Hallowed be thy name, Levee Breaks, Into the Void, Tush, Echoes, You Can't always get and Whole Lotta Rosie etc. to mention some others -
Don't wake the Lion - Magnum (Wings of Heaven).
Well you mentioned it! ;)
Nevermore - Seed Awakening
Vandenberg - Out in the Streets
Loudness - Speed
King Diamond - Black Horsemen
Van Halen - House of Pain
5. Tool - third eye - aenima
4 Faith No More - just a man - king for a day fool for ...
3 Metallica- Dyers Eve - ...and justice for all
2 Oceansize - The Vorhees - Frames
1 Failure - Daylight.
One that I class as a perfect album closer coming in at just over ten minutes is the classic "Parents" by the Welsh legends Budgie.
My 5 Favorite Album Closers right now are in no particular order :
1) Iron Maiden : To Tame A Land
2) Extreme : Hole Hearted
3) The Beatles : A Day In The Life
4) Kiss : Black Diamond
5) Ozzy Osbourne : Diary Of A Madman.
My top 5:
1. Heads or Tails, Treasure Island, Genesis - Running Wild (Take your pick, all great. They took a page out of the Maiden handbook with epic closing tracks.)
2. Overkill I / Sonic Reducer - Overkill (I suppose it depends which version of their first album you have; can't argue with either, the second being a killer cover of The Dead Boys.)
3. Shout It Out - Lion (From 1987's "Dangerous Attraction". Heavier and more talented than your average "hair" band; I believe where guitarist Doug Aldrich got his start.)
4. Ballbreaker - AC/DC (Heavy, gritty, and Brian found his voice; standout track on an underappreciated album.)
5. War Machine - KISS (Classic anthem from their comeback "Creatures" album, still a concert staple to this day.)
Honorable mentions:
6. Hands of Time - Y&T (Pete and Butch mentioned "Winds of Change" and "I Believe in You"; both great, but how about this one from an excellent, underrated album?)
7. I Will Remember - Queensryche ("Eyes of a Stranger" belongs as well, but this one, along with the entire album, exemplified the versatility they possessed.)
8. Rod of Iron - Lizzy Borden (Bryce will appreciate this one! Killer closing track from classic 1st album "Love You to Pieces." These guys should have been much bigger.)
9. Monster of Rock - Judas Priest (From "Ram It Down", which to me is unfairly ridiculed. Sure there's some synth-pop carryover from "Turbo" but plenty of heavy anthems.)
10. The Horror - W.A.S.P. (Inconsistency has hurt them, but "KFD" was strong in spite of its industrial leanings--as close as they got to the classic 1st album: angry, heavy, and vulgar.)
11. Ghosts & Thunder - Soilwork (One of the best "Melodeath" bands that never seems to get the respect they deserve; from their "The Ride Majestic" album--brilliant.)
12. Doom Over Dead Man - Amon Amarth (The Swedish Death Metallers have been producing epic closers since the beginning; this is just one among many.)
Thanks 🍺🤘
Great choice!
Van Halen On Fire
Acdc Whole Lotta Rosie
Deep Purple Space Truckin
Iron Maiden Hollow be thy Name
Metallica Damage INC
Dio Shame on the Night
Led Zeppelin The Ocean
Mine are in no particular order 1. Raining Blood-Slayer 2. Astronomy-Blue Oyster Cult. 3. On Fire-Van Halen. 4. Sick Again-Led Zeppelin 5. Lonely Is The Word-Black Sabbath. Honorable Mentions 6. Voodoo Child(Slight Return)-The Jimi Hendrix Experience. 7. Little Bit Of Sympathy-Robin Trower 8. Roads To Madness-Queensryche. 9. Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner-Iron Maiden. 10. A Light In The Black-Rainbow
"Winter Dreams" on Accept's Balls To The Walls album is a great closer.
How is Dreamer Deceiver a closer? It's 3rd or 4th track on the album.
Accept's Princess of the Dawn, from Restless & Wild.
Isn't e.vil n.ever d.ies the closing song on Years of Decay?
my picks ,some have already been said , but they are great for a reason, UFO-love to love, and This Kids and A light in the Black-Rainbow, Emerald-Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin-When the Levee Breaks. Some other one's that weren't mentioned, (at least i don't think they were mentioned) AC/DC-Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, Max Webster-In context of the moon, The Doors- Riders on the Storm, Jimi Hendrix-Are You Experienced, Budgie-"Napoleon Bona-Part One,"Napoleon Bona-Part Two" Kiss-Strange Ways
5. Lonely is the word - Sabbath
4. Hallowed be thy name - Maiden
3. When the levee breaks - Zep
2. A day in the life - Ringo's band
1. Echoes - Pink Freud
First one that always comes to mind is unsung. Whisper a Prayer For The Dying from Coverdale/Page. Best song on the album.
Here’s some that nobody mentioned.

I dedicated that one to Nick in my HM's

1)Tomb Mold: Two Worlds Become One
2)Havukruunu: Tähti-Yö Ja Hevoiset
3)Metallica: Damage Inc
4)Opeth: Blackwater Park
5)Wilderun: When the Fire and the Rose Were One

Metallica - Damage Inc. ( Master of Puppets )
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman ( Diary of a Madman )
Tremendous show. Thx gang 👍💯
Queensryche 'Road to Madness' from the Warning album.
Emerald is the song to play to introduce someone to TL. Totally agree. I also really love Ballad of a Hard Man!
To Tame a Land (maiden), Suicide (Barclay James Harvest), The Writ (Sabbath)
Master's Hammer is interesting as an early black metal album, didn't know that one. Cool pick Ryan!
I love that Ryan Skow considers Opeth way too commercial/not death metal enough for his tastes and he can be on the same show as Bryce waving the flag a WASP song that came out before he was born. This show is very entertaining :)
Off the top of my head;
1. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
2. Marillion - Neverland
3. Rush - The Garden
4. Savatage - Devastation
5. Cradle of Filth - Haunted Shores
my quickie 5: the doors - the end, van halen - on fire, ozzy - diary of a madman, zeppelin - when the levee breaks, anthrax - gung ho, jimi hendrix - are you experienced / voodoo child (tie)
The first thing that springs to mind is Raining Blood.... but also 'Don't Burn the Witch / At War With Satan'.
Ok. This time I will try to limit my choices 😂
Avenged Sevenfold - Save Me
Blind Guardian - And the story ends
Bullet for my Valentine - The End
Dio - Shame on the night
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys
Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name
Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark
Led Zeppelin - When the levee breaks
Linkin Park - The little things give you away
Metallica - The call of ktulu
Metallica - The Outlaw Torn
Pink Floyd - Echoes
Pink Floyd - High Hopes
Saxon - Denim and leather
Silent Civilian - Live Again
Thrice - Beyond the pines
Love seeing other Thrice fans. Beyond the Pines is incredible
Not Metal or hard rock, but the first one that came to my mind was, Free Bird from the first Lynyrd Skynyrd album
My top 10:
AC/DC - Night Prowler
Alice In Chains - Would?
Black Sabbath - Under the Sun
Corrosion of Conformity - In the Arms of God
The Doors - Riders of the Storm
Down - Bury Me in Smoke
Guns N Roses - Coma
Pantera - I’ll Cast a Shadow
Prince - Purple Rain
Type O Negative - Gravitational Constant
Lochness, Lochness. Ha!
BTW.. . Sad wings closing track = Island of Domination ...and it's bad ass!
