Tarot Woman - Rainbow Rising. Much under-rated track that hardly ever gets any love. Those pounding drums from Cozy 'F*ckin' Powell and RJD's vocals - superb!.
Then of course there's Whitesnake's The Gambler on the UK album version of Slide It In - with more mighty tub-thumping from Cozy after the maestro Jon Lord's majestic keyboard intro. Back in the day when David C still had those powerful tonsils!
And why on earth wasn't Gone Hollywood Supertramp's most-loved song after its superb opening on Breakfast in America? To my mind they've never been better...
Another highly enjoyable show as always. The guys and Karen really keep it interesting and fun for the whole show. Pete, I hope you truly know the impact you have on us metalheads with the SOT gang. I couldn't be more thankful for all of you. You and your friends, Pete are the coolest people around and that's not to be taken lightly. You have got so many people through some harsh times these last several years. Grateful beyond belief! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Tarot Woman - Rainbow. The song is amazing, but in itself its opening is fantastic, with keyboards that give the initial atmosphere, then followed by a guitar that works its way to finally lead to the entrance of Cozy's drums and the huge unique voice of Cozy. Gave.
Show No Mercy is my favorite Slayer album. Groovy, great riffs, great song writing. I get why people love the Rubin albums, but I love the vibe and songs from SNM the most.

Hello Pete!! I'm from Finland. I have followed HVS for a few years now. I like the show very much. Keep up the good work. I have a program proposal. BEST ROCK 'n' ROLL YEAR EVER by HVS !! It would be a 7 episode series. First you would choose the best year from the 60s. Each member of the show picks what they think are the three best years from that decade. Then you count which year gets the most votes, so it's the best year of that decade by HVS. Then you would do the same for the 70s, 80s, etc. In the last show, you put the best years of each decade in order and count which year gets the most votes. That year is the Best Rock'n' Roll Year ever!! I realize this will take time and probably require some planning, but it would be fascinating to know the final result!! Peace!!

Unless I've forgotten another song, I'd have to say "Tightrope" from ELO's 1976 album "A New World Record" is my number one favourite album opener song. While I love the whole song, the amazing 76 second intro and the 18 second outro are without a doubt the highlights of the song. Thank you Mr. Jeff Lynne!! At the moment at least, my second, third and fourth favourite album opener songs are: 2) Themes - Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe (Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe) (now I’m thinking it could tie for number one because I’ve played it so much 😂) 3) Knocking at Your Back Door - Deep Purple (Perfect Strangers) 4) Fire on High - ELO (Face the Music)

Relentless by Pentagram. We Die Young by Alice in Chains. Back on the Streets by Gary Moore. Dr. Music by Blue Öyster Cult. Reservation by Wild Horses.
UK - In The Dead Of Night. When i heard those opening guitar chords with the drums and then the keyboards jump straight in followed by Wetton's vocals, i knew i was hearing something very special just from the opening track alone and it really helped set the tone for what the self titled album was going to be about. It still to this day blows me away everytime i hear it.
Wake Up Dead and Holy Wars are both right answers for Megadeth. I'd like to mention Into the Lungs of Hell, it perfectly sets the mood for So Far... So Good... So What!

@@richard-mr1vz Thanks! I like all kinds of music. I forgot Women from Hysteria and I cut Crying in the Rain from Whitesnake at the last minute. I just had too many. I like New Wave, Pop, Rock, Classic Rock in particular, Grunge, in small amounts and R&B. My parents were R&B fans and I got into Rock when I started elementary school. Your list is interesting too. The only one I know is Boston, which my favorite Boston song. I have to hear the songs on your list just for fun. Cheers and stay cool😎
@@drocker4729 You're right I am a pretty big fan. What might surprise you is that my fandom is fairly recent. Maybe five years or less. I owned Physical Graffiti after college, but I didn't go any further until I heard Immigrant Song on the radio. I live on the West Coast. I lived in Los Angeles for nearly a decade, and now, I live in another major West Coast city. Both played Led Zeppelin a lot! But it wasn't until I heard When the Levee Breaks for the first time that I was like wow, I want to hear more. Now, I have all their studio albums, a 3-disc version of Coda that has Travelling River Side Blues, another favorite Zeppelin cover, and Hey, Hey, What Can I do, which I absolutely love too and The BBC Sessions. It's like when I heard What You Need and scooped up everything INXS. So, yeah, thank you for passing this on and I'll definitely check it out 😉BTW, what are your favorite Zeppelin albums, if you have a favorite?
@@drocker4729 Very true. 😊 My favorite album is Led Zeppelin IV. How unoriginal is that?! When it comes to favorite songs, I'll split the difference this way. When the Levee Breaks is my favorite song overall. But my favorite original song is Over the Hills and Far Away. I love every Zeppelin album except their debut which I think is good but not great. Presence has its ups and downs and Led Zeppelin III is my least favorite because I like Immigrant Song and that's it. My brain goes to sleep after Since I've Been Loving You. As far as the order of my favorites it's Led Zeppelin IV, Physical Graffiti, ITTOD, Houses of the Holy and Led Zeppelin II.

Freak - Bruce Dickinson Accident by Birth 2. Rock you to Hell - The Grim Reaper Rock you to Hell 1. Look at Yourself - Uriah Heep Look at Yourself Also it would be cool to see opening songs (exclude basic into tracks) that suck on otherwise great albums and favorite album closing tracks on HVS/ITPS ( I'll post it in the community board for ideas as well)
Agree with the suggestion - sounds more challenging to find worst opening tracks (on albums we otherwise like) - first impressions count, so you would assume that a strong track would have been picked to go first? Choosing favourite opening track on some prog albums could be the whole of Side A, so Pete might need to set ground rules (like he did when looking at perfect album sides).

You guys definitely talk about a lot of bands I've never heard. I'm not into brutal dark black death metal or whatever the flippity fuck it is you all love lol. You guys did mention a few I know and love though like Motörhead, Iron Maiden, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Robin Trower... I must say, my true top 5 are probably all Aerosmith. 5. No Surprize 4. Back In The Saddle 3. Toys In The Attic 2. Draw The Line 1. Let The Music Do The Talking But beyond Aerosmith I'd go with 5. You May Be Right by Billy Joel 4. Iron Fist by Motörhead 3. The Song Remains The Same by Led Zeppelin 2. In The Time Of Our Lives by Iron Butterfly 1. 2112 by Rush
1. Where Eagles dare
2. Turn up the night
3. Burn
4. Ghosts of Perdition

I was waiting for Bark at the Moon. I was a young metalhead in the 80s and that was the first Ozzy I had ever heard. I still have a soft spot for that tune and album
1. Van Halen - Running with the Devil
2. Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
3. Boston - More Than a Feeling
4. Aerosmith/Toys in the Attic - title track

* Michael Schenker Group (debut/self-titled) - Armed and Ready

Walk in the Shadows also by Queensryche
Tarot Woman - Rainbow Rising. Much under-rated track that hardly ever gets any love. Those pounding drums from Cozy 'F*ckin' Powell and RJD's vocals - superb!.
Then of course there's Whitesnake's The Gambler on the UK album version of Slide It In - with more mighty tub-thumping from Cozy after the maestro Jon Lord's majestic keyboard intro. Back in the day when David C still had those powerful tonsils!
Isn’t every track on Rising that is not Stargazer underrated?
Great pick though, killer track!
@@beetlebum7760 Yeah, agreed. I would have thought everyone's second favourite track is Tarot Woman.
And why on earth wasn't Gone Hollywood Supertramp's most-loved song after its superb opening on Breakfast in America? To my mind they've never been better...
And the Tony Carey ending. So good. th-cam.com/video/_G8lhw_zRWM/w-d-xo.html

Hello Pete!! I'm from Finland. I have followed HVS for a few years now. I like the show very much. Keep up the good work.
I have a program proposal. BEST ROCK 'n' ROLL YEAR EVER by HVS
Peace!!

Also it would be cool to see opening songs (exclude basic into tracks) that suck on otherwise great albums and favorite album closing tracks on HVS/ITPS ( I'll post it in the community board for ideas as well)
Agree with the suggestion - sounds more challenging to find worst opening tracks (on albums we otherwise like) - first impressions count, so you would assume that a strong track would have been picked to go first? Choosing favourite opening track on some prog albums could be the whole of Side A, so Pete might need to set ground rules (like he did when looking at perfect album sides).
