i agree with Robert in that Rage for Order is the best Queensryche album. Operation: Mindcrime was perfect for the time, but i feel RfO still stands up best to this day with The Warning being a close second. Blasphemy to my 16 year old self, but time changes everything. Great show tonight!
Great show! Entertaining, funny, and lots of good choices from what was a pretty solid year for music. FWIW, I'll share my picks here, in no particular order and minus the expected Metallica, Slayer, Maiden, Ozzy, etc. to make room for some obscure titles that deserve the space. I will rank them in the days to come. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1.
1. W.A.S.P.: Inside the Electric Circus 2. Ozzy Osbourne: The Ultimate Sin 3. King Diamond: Fatal Portrait 4. Richard Thompson: Daring Adventures 5. Cinderella: Night Songs
Peter Gabriel So is my favourite 86 album - other than many which have already been mentioned. I also dig Toto Fahrenheit, I actually prefer it over Isolation and even The Seventh one. Might be contrarian but I ignored it for years same as Kingdom of Desire and both are tied for my second favourite Toto album (after the debut)
Fresh off the favorite hard rock/metal albums of the 80's segment that Pete is doing this month, I can grab Cinderella's Night Songs- which I believe was my first choice of the month, and climbed up the ranks for having one of my all-time favorite guitar tones on a classic Motley Crue + AC/DC hybrid. Coincidentally, Manilla Road made my top 10 with Open the Gates today and now I can pick another masterpiece of theirs- 1986's The Deluge. Shadows in the Black gives me the heebie jeebies and I'm deeply in love with the shred on this album. One of the most impressive drummers I've heard in my life in a power trio that sounds like a legion. This gets a lot of listens during the rainy season. For my #3 pick of 1986 I'm throwing a curve ball with The Final Frontier by Keel. Not even sure if it's gonna stay that way years from now, but it's a hard rock album from an overlooked band that I first listened to in my teens and one that I've been revisiting a lot in recent years. The debut is arguably heavier, but this one's a delight. Here Today, Gone Tomorrow and others songs like Arm and a Leg, No Pain No Gain and Rock n' Roll Animal are really satisfying. I might've slipped in the past that 5150 was my favorite Van Halen record, despite backlash from Sammy haters. Then there's Judas Priest's Turbo, Megadeth's Peace Sells, Metallica's Master of Puppets, Iron Maiden's Somewhere in Time, Queensryche's Rage for Order, The Ultimate Sin by Ozzy (featuring a Jake E. Lee tour de force) and the phenomenal Tesla debut. All records I enjoy quite a bit. I'm leaving on a cliffhanger so as not to spoil which of these is gonna make my top 10 of the 80's. I'll be writing my usual verbose and excessive paragraphs about those in a few days.
@@rebeccalangendorf3121 Definitely! Short-lived band unfortunately, don't know why... I binge their 80's run every so often and like all their albums. Just like Dokken, Autograph and Twisted Sister they might've had one or two albums left in the tank but split early. They should've done it before the 90's hit, huge business mistake

Looks great my friend. Man you got me needing to hear the remix. The OG Japan press cover is slightly glossy. I would love this treatment for H&H and Mob rules, and dehumanizer! Enjoy the records brother, I’ll be on it asap.🤟
I had to go online and look up album releases of 1986. There is so much I don't even remember. Orgasmatron is my favorite rock album from that year. I did get a smiley when I saw the Luther Vandross Give Me the Reason album. Stop to Love was one of the few r&b/soul/pop songs I liked that year. I think it was the way they sang celebrate in the song. 😆

Honorable mentions -Voivod, Flotsam and Jetsam, Wasp, Ratt, Tesla, Ozzy, Maiden, Slayer, Dark angel, Kreator, Nuclear Assault....so many great albums in 1986! Of course i turned 11 years old that year. So i was mostly listening to the Beatles at that time...
The song F**k Off and Die from RRROOOAAARRR is about Metal Blade (Bryan S.). They were very unhappy with Bryan at the time. In 1986, definitely the key albums from Slayer, Kreator, Nuclear Assault, Dark Angel, Destruction Sepultura, and Sodom
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time XTC - Skylarking Peter Gabriel - So Depeche Mode - Black Celebration Great show! Cheers fellas.
1986! Very interesting year for rock and metal music! Master of Puppets - Metallica 5150 - Van Halen Sport of Kings- Triumph Somewhere In Time - Iron Maiden Reign In Blood - Slayer
Reign in Blood & Master of Puppets...There's no way around those 2 for me. Ozzy's Ultimate Sin was a big deal for me too, as a more "traditional" record for the time. Cheers.

I’m still listening to Hawk all the time because of the little honorable mention thrown in here. GREAT ALBUM!!!
i agree with Robert in that Rage for Order is the best Queensryche album. Operation: Mindcrime was perfect for the time, but i feel RfO still stands up best to this day with The Warning being a close second. Blasphemy to my 16 year old self, but time changes everything. Great show tonight!
Well, Rage has a better production and the sort of Goth-Industrial-Power Metal vibe on that record has never really been done before or since.
the masculine feminine dynamic of butch johns and lynn versaci is for me reminiscent of certain romantic comedy movies of tom hanks and meg ryan 💞💕
Aka Giggles and Schmoopie

Great show! Entertaining, funny, and lots of good choices from what was a pretty solid year for music. FWIW, I'll share my picks here, in no particular order and minus the expected Metallica, Slayer, Maiden, Ozzy, etc. to make room for some obscure titles that deserve the space.

@@seaoftranquilityprog That makes sense, but I had to miss the very end of the video for bedtime, then I heard you also give props to Tony MacAlpine and Vinnie Moore. Good call on those.

Bryce picked it, and Rob read it for him.
Agree with Butch regarding Loudness. Akiras guitar tone on Thunder and Lightning is out of this world!

I love early Toto. I'm dying to get through their catalogue and explore but I never have time!
I love Keel and The Final Frontier!!! Should of been in my honorable mentions!!! Great one.

Maiden- Somewhere in Time, Metal Church - The Dark, Metallica of course, Queensryche- Rage, Tesla- Mechanical, Ratt - Dancin, Yngwie- Trilogy, Loudness- Lightning, Megadeth - Peace Sells, Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday, Ozzy - Ultimate Sin, Mercyful Fate- Portrait, Stryper- To Hell, Kreator- Pleasure to Kill, Cinderella debut.

Manilla Road - Deluge
Iron Maiden - Somewhere in time

Scandelous show tonight, quite controversial. 👏
😂😂
This was our 'off the rails' episode! Don't think we could have even gotten an 'R' rating with this one!
@@peterpardo7563 / It was good company and cheers round. Great series SoT: HVS! 👍
Butch was on point with the Arrested Development reference!!! Always think of GOB! :D
Love me some Motorhead! Love me some Luther!

Just off the top of my head.
I'm reading Slagel's book right now (very interesting read). I wonder if he'll mention it.

Somewhere In Time - Iron Maiden

Lynne and Butch need a sitcom.
Instead of Laverne & Shirley we'll call it Lynne & Schmoopy
Lynne and Butch make watching these videos nearly unbearable. Love the other panelists, but geez.
Reign in Blood & Master of Puppets...There's no way around those 2 for me. Ozzy's Ultimate Sin was a big deal for me too, as a more "traditional" record for the time.
Cheers.
