Sawyer always makes banger theories! They're well researched and connect to the plot without it feeling like too much of a stretch. Even if "Davy Jones" isn't the official name and Oda just decides to call it a "Sea Devil" devil fruit, everything still connects. Long Ring Long Land would literally go from being the least plot relevant arc to be one with the greatest foreshadowing.

Great video Sawyer. But I'd definitely be interested in a follow up seeing your thoughts on how Imu fits into this. Whitebeard's dying words, the prophecy of the "dawn" and the end of Reverie make it clear that he's the true main antagonist and final villain of the manga, so Oda will certainly have put a lot into what his character will be and his connection to Joyboy (I can't see him just being a generic villain who randomly conquered the Ancient Kingdom).
My headcanon is that Joyboy and Im were originally friends who shared sake cups as children, Im's dream was to have her own kingdom so that she could be free to go anywhere, Joyboy's dream was to create a kingdom where everyone could be free, something like that.

After hearing all of this I’m also thinking maybe the Davy Jones’ side is a reincarnation/bloodline situation where Rocks, and Teach are related to Davy Jones, whereas the Joyboy side is more of an inherited will side due to Roger and Luffy not being related, and having the freedom theme going on. Also would help to keep Luffy from being a “chosen one” character.

Just as a correction here Sawyer, as someone from the West Indies, I can tell you that anything West Indian refers to the Caribbean and definitely not Somalia. It actually fits in more with the Pirates of the Caribbean references. Also Duffy is mispronounced derivative term of Duppy, which is the actual West Indian term for Ghost. Davy is more likely an abbreviation of the Hebrew name David, meaning beloved and has nothing to do with your theory.

one of the coolest bb theories i’ve read, mostly bc the mix of myths and stories covered, which is always key to predicting oda. you need a massive mix bc if you follow just one the theory won’t get far enough.
I love the point of Black Beard already having his third fruit, it fits so well. That would be the strongest Mytical Zoan in my mind, seeing that it gives the user the ability to eat two more fruits. Black Beard would have the strongest Paramecia - Gura Gura no Mi, strongest Logia - Yami Yami no Mi, and the strongest Mythical Zoan - Hito Hito no Mi Model Davy Jones.
Yeah man I fw this theory. I always thought it was strange how much specific information oda has given us about Davy Jones. He even said that the island that Blackbeard currently occupies is where the Davy back fight was invented. I think this would be the perfect theory for tying in all this information we have. Luffys fruit isn't the Mythical Zoan Model: Joyboy, it's the mythical Zoan Model: Nika, which Joyboy possessed.
So i think it wouldn't be the 'model: Davy Jones' fruit, it'd be a fruit of some other mythical creature, but Davy Jones was the first bearer of that fruit. Model: Devil would be the most obvious one of course, but there are other possiblities. Perhaps some sort of Moon/Death god as an analogy to Nika.
Joyboy and Nika are the same person. A lunarian who lived 800 years ago.

@@Kurozu1991 Road to Laugh Tale seems to confirm they are not entirely the same. Nika first lived "during ancient times", while Joy Boy is specified to have existed in "the void century". Why the distinction if they're the same? Joy Boy became Nika in the same way Luffy did, by awakening the Fruit. The original Nika the Myth is about lived before that.

If Davy Jones and Joyboy existed around the same time, maybe the first Davy Back fight was between their crews, where Davy won Zunesha and used it to commit some sort of atrocity, possibly even killing Joyboy or the mermaid princess of that time. The Lunarians (or some other god or god-like figure) cursed Zunesha for this act not knowing it was ordered to by its new master, only thinking it had gone insane.
I spotted one flaw in your logic, Sawyer - when you talked about West Indian and use it to mean West of India. The West Indies are a group of Caribbean island nations that have no real relation to India (they've had a lot of Indian immigrants over the years though), they were named West Indies because Columbus was a dumbass and thought he'd reached India when he got to Hispanola. The word Duffy (or Duppy) is of a Caribbean patois, not from an Indian language (I can't think of a Hindi word for ghost or spirit that could be bastardized into Duffy/Duppy at all).
That fact about the spider lily 'dying' and then coming back to life is interesting. If Blackbeard's first fruit is a zoan plant fruit (and we may be getting another one introduced now with Aramaki) model: spider lily, it could allow for eating more than one fruit because the user 'dies' so the soul of the previous fruit disappears but the lineage factor is still in the body. And then the body comes back to life keeping the ability of the fruit without its 'soul'. In theory this would mean Blackbeard could eat multiple fruits though, not just three. But it would also explain why he might not want Kaido's fruit, he doesn't want/need another zoan because zoans have a stronger, more complete soul in them compared to logia and paramecia types. Essentially I'm thinking this spider lily fruit is something like All For One from MHA, but with restrictions and themes to fit the One Piece world.

I like the idea that davy and joy boy had the 1st davy back fight. I always believed rocks crew was built off of davy back fights. That's way the rocks seem to not like each other because they were pretty muched forced to work together. I believe that Roger and garp had a davy back fight with rocks and it cause the rocks to disband. But after watching this video and the trend of joy boy v davy continues , then could luffy and black bread have a davy back fight. I don't believe that would happen but I could see Robin being taken from a davy back fight. She is the curse child. Goes with the davy curse. She will get on the crew with alkiji, they already have history. That's the only way I see momo joining the strawhats to fill in for a time for Robin reading the poneglyph. So I'm clear I don't think luffy and blackbeard will have a davy back fight but if they did that's the only reason I can see. But I do believe rocks and Roger davy back fight happened
That Zunesha theory makes a lot of sense if Zunesha was Pluton as well. I honestly think given the size of Zunesha that Zune/Pluton was Joyboys ship (nakama). Housing the minks who under the full moon turn all white like Gear 5 Nika. Connects with the Kozuki. My only thing is who was Vanderdecken? I really like Parvisions theory of him being a fallen Celestial Dragon and imo probably rode alongside Joyboy and crew. If we think about the Elephant sword from Enies Lobby, ships having their own spirit & Zune being stretched out. It would make sense imo that we can combine these ideas to show that Joyboy somehow helped Zunesha walk above sealevel for its curse before passing.
Also on top of all these connections maybe we can add on to parvisions theory of Vanderdecken being a kinokobito (mushroom people) and connect that somehow to Noland who had the chestnut on his head. Which w/ Imus garden might connect Vander to Joyboy even more. Maybe Noland inherited Vanders will alongside (Davy -> Rocks -> BB & Joyboy -> Roger -> Luffy).

I think devil fruit spider lily won't be the case. Hito hito no mi model Davy Jones is more likely making the user to eat 2 more fruits making it complete (like Cell from Dragon Ball, we know that Oda likes Dragon Ball too). Then, it will awaken another ability with this fruit like how model Nika awakened.

I think this is the best video I've seen on this channel all year. TBH its possibly the best theory video I've seen this year too. Its the first time in a long while I actually watched a full theory video without clicking off it after pressing play.
I think blackboard already has 3 devil fruits he has 3 bodies but he needed the yami Yami to separate the powers of devil fruit between all 3 bodies. And he hid the fact he had 3 personalities or maybe he doesn't even consciously know but everyone knew he was different. That's why he begged whitebeard to not kill him because he was his son, one of the consciousness in blackbeard actually meant that.
Im loving the complexity of all the theories on one piece nowadays. As someone who has been following the series since it first dropped Im absolutely enthralled by the love this story gets. I may myself do my theory on the story and how I believe the lore is and what the story’s end will be like. W theory as always.

Lack of Blackbeard has made him extremely interesting as a character. Either he or Imu is being set up to be the final antagonist of the series, and Blackbeard having his own hito hito no mi fruit would make sense. It might make him overpowered, he has two other fruits, and I'm also interested in the nature of devil fruits themselves.

Mythical zoan fruits are still kind of a mystery as the ones we've seen haven't been explained very in depth, but overall, they seem to be basically combos of a zoan mixed with a paramicia, a logia, or both. Also, multiple of them have abilities that seem to be active when the user isn't transformed, even when the user isn't actively trying to use powers in some cases.
Orochi was able to survive being beheaded while he was still in human form, and at his death it was implied that without first neutralizing his power, it would be near impossible to finish him off. Safety from beheading and possibly death at all times seems to be a perk of his fruit.
Kaido was abnormally durable, it took a lot just to make him feel pain. Since momo has become an adult, he has mentioned quite a few times how things don't really hurt him, the dragon model fish fruit seems to grant the user toughness similar to dragon scales at all times.
Marco has the ability to let attacks seemingly pass through him and fight with blue flames like a logia, and he has limited healing abilities as well as a temporary healing flame, slightly similar to mancherrys paramicia powers. Also, he seems to be able to use both of these in human form, the only time we see him unable to use these powers is when he's exhausted or with the use of seastone, just like with orochi.
Luffys fruit basically made him a rubber man at all times, the only way to turn this off is, again, with the use of seastone. In fact, he didn't even know he had a zoan power, he didn't have access to the abilities until the fruit awakened.
Catarina Devon has her shapeshifting abilities, but her fruit is still pretty unknown. The fox in wano, sengoku, and Yamato all also have mythical zoans, but their abilities haven't been super explored, beyond sengokus shockwave and yamatos ice powers. They might all have passive paramicia/logia like abilities as well.
Another strange thing, we don't see a lot of hybrid forms, kaido and Yamato showed all three forms each. Marco shows a partially transformed body, which might be his "hybrid" form. But Luffy is normal or he transforms, sengoku and the wano fox were either normal or transformed, same for Catarina and orochi.
It seems human human fruits dont have transformation outside of awakening

@@UncleDaniel We don't know that for sure yet, Luffy just now awakened his fruit and we've only seen sengoku use his briefly. The fox from wano has a mythical human fruit as well and we haven't seen his hybrid, but chopper, a reindeer who ate the normal human zoan does have a hybrid form. Also, Orochi and Devon are humans with fox and snake mythical fruits and they haven't/have never shown a hybrid form. We need more information

This is 100% the case, I also think the Blackbeard vs Luffy fight will be a Davy back fight for the right to find One Piece. A Davy Back fight that is actually what it was supposed to be and not Foxy's water downed comedic version.

Great theory! I always thought the final battle would be a (far more serious) Davey Back Fight as the Strawhat crew and Blackbeard crew mirror each other like no other crew. We could see Luffy lose most of his crew, Straw hats get the moral victory but the games get interfered with as pirates play dirty!

I was expecting Teech to already have a mythical zoan based on a hippo whose extra power was the ability to eat up to two more devil fruits. But your zoan fruit idea makes a lot more sense on a thematic level with all that you mentioned. My thematic relevance was more based on the fact that parts of One Piece can be inverted with other parts of the story. So since Wapol had a hippo cloak and was the easiest fight for Luffy, Teech would be a powerful hippo zoan and be among the toughest fights for Luffy.

We crossed the predestination mark when Luffys grandad was Garp, His dad was Dragon, and his “D” name was linked to some greater power. This was always predestined.

What if Davy was to take any treasure he wanted but could not touch the fruits on the tree, That's why the tree is called Eve as a reference to forbidden fruit.

I think blackbeard ate the mythical wendigo devil fruit.As the mythology of the wendigo strongly draws insperation from werewolf mythology.I also think that's the reason for why blackbeard feelt such an immense pain when ace burned him alive.As wendigos only weakness would be that of the element of fire.Also i think this would tie in strongly with the elbaf arc because the wendigo is said to be a wolf or deer that grows in proportion to the number of people that it eats.It's also very similar to that of the wolf of fenrir within norse mythology.As the wolf known as fenrir within norse mythology also grows in size in proportion to the number of people that it has consumed.The devil fruits ability would also allow him to eat eight devil fruits.Symbolizing the eight moons of the one piece world.Wendigo's are also said to be evil spirits that can strongly relate to that of demons or devils
Why does every fan of OP forget that the series was only planned for 100 or less chapters at first? That hippo from the early chapters is a coincidence, even the concept of Emperors didn't exist at that point.
I absolutely love how this ties more useless arcs like long ring long land and fishman island together with the whole story.

While some theories I take with a grain of salt, not fully denying it but keeping elements in mind for the future of the series, I don’t want to here. This theory is so perfect in my mind it’s just canon until proven otherwise.

In a weird way this makes a lot sense. Because I find it hard to imagine him having, a powerful mythical zoan, the strongest pamacia fruit and the dark dark fruit. It sounds a little too broken, unless luffy gets a new hack

The destiny in One Piece is different than the classic chosen one trope from like Naruto. One Piece's destiny is more like "these certain figures will emerge and certain things will happen but it could be anyone fulfilling it" like if someone else ate the Nika fruit, fate would be burdened upon them, unlike Naruto where the certain characters were BORN as chosen ones. In One Piece, you can CHOOSE to be the chosen one. Luffy is going to be able to make use of fate for himself. For example, Moriah could eat the Nika fruit and he could still fail. I believe there have been multiple users of the Nika fruit who could never awaken joyboy and died. Fate doesn't favour Luffy or Blackbeard. Luffy and Blackbeard favour fate.
Nah Reincarnation and destiny are intertwined based on Buddhism as past karma influences one's destiny, even from previous lives. That stated, everyone has free will and can also influence the course of their lives e.g. Naruto and Sasuke broke the cycle of hatred. While actual soul Reincarnation hasn't been mentioned in one piece iirc, the will of D and luffy's fruit aren't much different. It's semantics trying to differentiate the two. The big three have a lot to do with destiny, Buddhism, etc.
Edit: i guess I can say Oda incorporated these thems in a more interesting way than Kishi did which was more straightforward.
@@HeatForce yes there are a lot of Buddhist elements present but as you said there is no mention of reincarnation in the story. You could stretch and call Shirahoshi a reincarnation even though poseidon's abilities are exclusive to the bloodline so its more like a super rare recessive gene. Naruto's chosen one trope is wayy different. Luffy just happened to eat the Nika fruit which was clearly not meant for him. Zoan's do have a will of their own but still it's not like it could resist someone from not eating it. Luffy has always been a force of nature, his only overpowered ability is to make friends with everyone like Mihawk said.
It's always funny how people bash Naruto for this, but make excuses for One Piece.
Luffy is born into greatness and has acquired one of the most OP devil fruits.
I remember back then how everyone used to praise Oda for giving the main character one of the most "basic or average" devil fruits.
Luffy's plot armor is vastly greater than that of Naruto. How many times did he get defeated and survived? Luffy has more plot armor in just 2 or 3 arcs than Naruto has in the whole series.
Even side characters have so much bs plot armor. Not to mention all the nonsensical fake out deaths (Pell, Kinemon, Pound, Kanjuro, Orochi, Igaram, Law, Conis' dad, Kaya's buttler, Bon Clay, Sabo, Gecko Moria and many more).
Kishimoto at least kills a lot of his characters.
@@poemirtiza i have a strong feeling Luffy getting his fruit has something to do with the will of D. That is the destiny factor. It's just a bigger, more diverse concept as opposed to two characters who are direct reincarnations. Boruto and Saruda kinda bucked that concept even though they have inherited abilities.
One Piece fans are trying really hard to justify how destiny plays in the story but there's no avoiding it now. What once was a topic of pride is now the topic of endless roundabout arguments. Even in Naruto you could say that he was only able to do things he did because HE CHOSE to be that tenacious, to never give up, etc. At the end it's not that different. You guys are in denial and trying really hard to split hairs.
One Piece is another "chosen one" story. Accept it.

Blackbeard's biggest secret is revealed: "Teach's laugh is the key to everything." The craziest theory about how Teach was able to eat two fruits.
Please don't judge the theory until you read the last letter of it.
One of the secrets of One Piece is how Teach was able to eat two fruits? The answer would be with a question: What if Teach had eaten a devil fruit before, so he could eat two fruits?
Now you will wonder what this fruit is. You will be shocked if I tell you the answer is in Teach's laugh:
As we know many characters in One Piece, the way they laugh is taken from the name of their fruit, such as:
-Whitebeard: his laughter is "gurararara" and his fruit is "gura-gura nomi."
-Peruna: her laugh "horororo" and her fruit "horo-horo nomi"
-Big Mom's chef: his laughter, 'kukukuku', and his fruit, 'kuku-kuku nomi' Now Teach's laugh is "ZEHAHAHA." What fruit applies to his laughter?
Answer: => There is a mythical creature called Bai-ZE, and it is called in Japan, Haku taku. If we combine the first and last letters of his names (capital letters), we will get ZEHA, which is Teach's laugh, and the strange thing is that this creature has many things that literally apply to Teach:
The Bai-Ze (Bai ze) is a spiritual being that is described as a tiger, sheep, or lion, whatever is important. It has several horns and has three faces: one on the front and two on the sides. Each face has 3 eyes. If you notice, the flag of Teach's crew is three skulls. A skull on the front and two skulls on the sides, and he also has three guns. Legend says that Bai-Ze knows all forms of demons and spirits, and the matching point here is that in chapter 440, Teach says to Ace, "I know all forms of devil fruits from my reading of the Devil Fruits book." This explains the reason why his crew took strong fruits such as shiliew and Katrina, because of his knowledge of all the devil fruits and his targeting of them.
In China and Japan, Bai-Ze is called the cultured beast, and his knowledge is said to go back to ancient times. So in SBS Volume 81, Oda writes, "Teach's favorite hobby is historical research," and in SBS Volume 88, Oda says, "If Teach was not a pirate, he would be an archaeologist."
The Bai-Ze can read all human languages, and from this I'm 70% sure that Teach can read the Poneglyph. On top of that, he is aware of other secrets, and I guess that Teach will not kidnap Robin to read the Poneglyph because he doesn't need to do that.
The Bai-Ze's favorite food is herbs, and in Ace's novel, when the Whitebeard crew liberated a village from thieves, the residents gave them flowers, and Teach ate these flowers, and everyone was amazed as he asked the crew members to give him their flowers to eat.
Clarification: For those who think that Teach injured Shanks using the claw he was wearing in the fight against Roger's crew and Whitebeard, they are wrong, because after the fight, Shanks appeared normal without any injury. Teach's use of this weapon was just a misdirection from Oda to hide the truth of Teach's fruit, as I mentioned in the theory.
Just ask yourself why the scene of Teach's wound to Shanks hasn't appeared yet. Why was Shanks surprised at how Teach injured him if he used a claw weapon to do that?And why did Shanks leave the fight between Whitebeard's and Roger's crews without any scratch?
If this theory came true, Teach would be able to collect mighty fruits of each of the three types:
-Zoan fruit: Bai-Ze fruit
-Logia fruit: the darkness fruit
-Paramecia Fruit: Earthquake Fruit
=> Is it possible that all of these are coincidences deduced from Teach's laugh + The theory has more than an hour and i only transmitted the important things.
Either way, I think (and hope) one of the two theories turns out to be true because they're just too on point.
I really like the theory man.. honestly this is almost as good as that incredibly popular theory video from Ohara.. only reason it doesn't have as many plays probably is because Ohara made it a point to go over the top with his editing.

Ever since the name change for Luffy's fruit, the doors were opened for pretty much ANY fruit to have theirs changed and naturally I thought that his Yami Yami would be a Mythical Zoan because: 1) it was NEVER a Logia 2) as a mythical, they get added properties and that's what his "weird body" would be, something that allows him to consume more than one fruit 3) he would be the "god of the Earth" mentioned in the Skypiea Arc because the Earth "swallows" everything as alluded by his Black Hole attack.
However I do prefer your idea now, it's my new head canon, but it does somewhat add/improve on mine idea, and that's the beauty of One Piece, everyone seems to have a tiny piece many different puzzles when it comes to varying theories.
