It was the arc that made me fall n love with One Piece, the free-flowing, total sense of adventure. I wonder why people need to put down other arcs to praise their own favourites

i think another rebuttal against luffy being the enemy of the gods while being a god himself is the parallel between gan fall and enel. both have the title of god, but gan fall truly cares about the citizens of the sky. i think this goes to show that gods aren’t a bad thing, it’s what is done with the title. we see these same ideas in almost every arc that contrasts kings as well i.e dressrosa or drum island

I want to smoke the same shit Oda smokes. I think Oda should gain a Nobel prize for literature. Brahhhh. Oda is woke! He told the bigger picture story in a smaller story arc. This is just one thing of all the stuff he writes/draws.

Knowing that in oda's mind at the beginning there was no warlord of the sea, Skipea was probably the "wano" of the original story Oda had in mind so it makes a lot of sense that it is still a very important arc for the narrative of the whole story

I honestly think "The enemy of God" thing continues a theme One Piece has with deception. Ace curses himself for having the blood of a devil and yet Gold Roger was a great man. Oden's remembered as being a fool that danced on the streets for money and yet behind the curtains he did that to protect the people he loves. Noland died and was remembered as a liar yet everything he said turned to be true. One Piece continually tells you things only to show you the opposite. So "the enemy of God" really seems intentionally ironic.

@Radionife Idk about that. Oda seems to be using the same formula he did with Alabasta. Luffy gets defeated multiple times by the villain (crocodile and Kaido), but then defeats them when things are at its worst (bomb about to blow and onigashima about to fall down). So my bet is that the next time Luffy fights Kaido he will defeat him, but onigashima will still fall since it’s been implied multiple times by Oda that the cycle needs to be destroyed or reset in order for a country to rebuild. So no, the raid will not end in failure, although I do think onigashima will still fall down.
@Radionife No emotional stake? Hun? Kaido not only killed Oden (which everyone in Wano loved) but is also the reason why Wano is literally in a state of tyranny. In fact the emotional stakes are even more similar to Alabasta since both are about liberating their countries from a tyrannical ruler. I mean I can keep going with the similarities: Luffy brings rain to Alabasta vs Luffy bringing food to the starving citizens in Wano + opening its borders. Vivi=Princess that needs to liberate her country. Momo=prince/next shogun that needs to liberate his country. The emotional stakes are almost identical lol.
@Radionife I get what you're saying, but I think that's only true regarding the straw hats. The scabbards, Momo and the country itself (maybe Yamato will join in the emotional bandwagon with a flashback) are pretty much the emotional core of this arc, and I think it's a pretty good one honestly, since I didn't really care about them until this arc but now Kanjuro's betrayal or Kinemon's sacrifice really had a huge impact. Anyways I don't think it'll fail, but this arc is still far from finished, much is still to come during the raid.
Imagine how satisfying this story will be if it has a knockout ending. If Oda manages to tie everything together as he has done up until now, this could be among the all-time greats
@@atomicambition4642 No matter what happens in the future, OP will be worth experiencing. Unless the ending is horrible, Oda will have created a masterpiece. However, a couple of bad endings in resent years have convinced me that an atleast good ending is needed to feel truly satisfied with a long story.
If the ending of one piece is like a 4/5 in quality, it'll be certified as one of the greatest pieces of fiction. If it's beyond that, then it's even better.

Fun fact: for a long time, skypea was the last arc dubbed to spanish. So when in Spain we wanted to watch further in the anime in japanese we started after skypea. So yeah it is a before and after for many of us.

Their opinions are meaningless, they don't realize they are being just like Bellamy. Probably the real reason why Oda gave him a redemption later on, because people that dislike Skypia are people like Bellamy. While in other Mangas or even Novels the fight is the story, here the fight is just a element of many in the story. It can be important or not.

Oda said he originally planned to finish the series in 5 years and Skypiea was written 5 years into the series. So yeah, I think a lot of ideas for the end of the series were incorporated in Skypiea
imagine the balls you need as an mangaka or any sort of author to write a whole story arc that a large group of your fan base strongly dislikes because you know that YEARS down the line it’ll pay off 100000 fold.

i dropped one piece in skypiea and rn im getting back to it (water seven) the first part of skypiea is absurdly slow, but ends really good when enel vs luffy starts
That isn't my favorite arc, but I always loved it since the beginning. While later I also kinda realized that skypea is basically op story in a nutshell (which make me love it even more), the main reason is because that arc is the core of one piece. Adventure, Dreams, exploring and not knowing that the heck will happen but still going forward. I always have found funny that people doesn't like skypea arc, I mean, I can understand them of course, but they are doing exactly the opoosite of what one piece tell us, enjoy the travel.

Skypia is a very important arc in the story of One Piece as it holds very strong ties to the Void Century most likely. But I still think it was one of the most boring arcs. I'm not a big fan of Skypia.
People joke about this because Oda loves to stretch plot points out, but don't dismiss it completly. We do know that oda already mention that the straw hats will be in a very bleak place once Wano reaches the ending. So what could that mean? You have to ask your self that. Some fans speculate oh yeah its probably just kaido or big mom defeating them completly and visa versa but i disagree. I think its going to be far more impactful then that and introduced an element in the story that will drive it towards its end. For example the Gorusei could make a drastic move or Rocks could enter the scene and change the whole tide of the conflict, etc.
@@rahulsambyal6583 most pre time skip arcs ended in a way better way, alabasta luffy made an earthquake by punching crocodile so hard, Jaya luffy turned into one punch man, sabaody was the beginning of Vietnam for luffy and the downfall of the straw hats, marine ford is self explanatory, obviously enies lobby, arlong park luffy kicked arlong through multiple floors destroying an entire complex, Baratie (probably not how you spell it) we got the only emotional parting from a straw hat to the people they knew before. @Radionife No emotional stake? Hun? Kaido not only killed Oden (which everyone in Wano loved) but is also the reason why Wano is literally in a state of tyranny. In fact the emotional stakes are even more similar to Alabasta since both are about liberating their countries from a tyrannical ruler. I mean I can keep going with the similarities: Luffy brings rain to Alabasta vs Luffy bringing food to the starving citizens in Wano + opening its borders. Vivi=Princess that needs to liberate her country. Momo=prince/next shogun that needs to liberate his country.

@Radionife I get what you're saying, but I think that's only true regarding the straw hats. The scabbards, Momo and the country itself (maybe Yamato will join in the emotional bandwagon with a flashback) are pretty much the emotional core of this arc, and I think it's a pretty good one honestly, since I didn't really care about them until this arc but now Kanjuro's betrayal or Kinemon's sacrifice really had a huge impact.
Anyways I don't think it'll fail, but this arc is still far from finished, much is still to come during the raid.

However, a couple of bad endings in resent years have convinced me that an atleast good ending is needed to feel truly satisfied with a long story.
If the ending of one piece is like a 4/5 in quality, it'll be certified as one of the greatest pieces of fiction. If it's beyond that, then it's even better.

Congratulation! You nail it, Sir! You talk about all the points that make me love Skypia as a Saga, starting in Jaya. People that don't like the arc, want to see only fights. Their opinions are meaningless, they don't realize they are being just like Bellamy. Probably the real reason why Oda gave him a redemption later on, because people that dislike Skypia are people like Bellamy.

That isn't my favorite arc, but I always loved it since the beginning. While later I also kinda realized that skypea is basically op story in a nutshell (which make me love it even more), the main reason is because that arc is the core of one piece. Adventure, Dreams, exploring and not knowing that the heck will happen but still going forward.

People joke about this because Oda loves to stretch plot points out, but don't dismiss it completly. We do know that oda already mention that the straw hats will be in a very bleak place once Wano reaches the ending. So what could that mean? You have to ask your self that. Some fans speculate oh yeah its probably just kaido or big mom defeating them completly and visa versa but i disagree. I think its going to be far more impactful then that and introduced an element in the story that will drive it towards its end. For example the Gorusei could make a drastic move or Rocks could enter the scene and change the whole tide of the conflict, etc.
One Piece only really gets started after Luffy defeats Kaido.

@@rahulsambyal6583 most pre time skip arcs ended in a way better way, alabasta luffy made an earthquake by punching crocodile so hard, Jaya luffy turned into one punch man, sabaody was the beginning of Vietnam for luffy and the downfall of the straw hats, marine ford is self explanatory, obviously enies lobby, arlong park luffy kicked arlong through multiple floors destroying an entire complex, Baratie (probably not how you spell it) we got the only emotional parting from a straw hat to the people they knew before.
Those are the only ones I remember but there’s probably more, my point is nothing was special about skypiea except the adventure vibe it was really boring for the most part.
