美味しいココア I heard something different, I heard that he didn’t really know how the story is going to go when he started writing it, and he just went along with whatever he had and observed. I also heard that at first he created a short manga (I don’t remember the name) with a great plot line but someone told him to continue his work and make it better and turn it into a full manga series. He did as that person told him to and here we are....
@@joannaasterio9807 he definitely didnt just go along. If he did, hes incredibly lucky but it makes no sense. Everything in AOT builds up, absolutely no retcons, no coincidences (which occur a lot if u just go along) Edit: as of chapter 137, theres absolutely 0% chance Isayama didn't plan this beginning to end
In a interview, Isayama said that he named Mikasa over a Japanese battleship. There is a legend that if your name a character or your work over a Japanese warship. It is bound to be acknowledged by the entire world.
O k no I meant it in the beginning he “just went along” but yes as he was writing it I believe he started planning a lot of the things, he even changed a lot of his plan too. What I said was based on what he said, he may not be correct because he is really hard on himself and maybe he is much better and creative than what he thinks he is.
In the first 20 seconds of the series it shows these 2 birds before it shifts onto the colossal titan peaking his head over the wall. Those birds are recognized as “Cormorant” birds. This is important because these types of birds only live near costal areas, beaches, islands, and rivers. It’s amazing that Isayama knew what he was doing from the first page of the manga and the first 20 seconds of the series.
AoT is a masterpiece, but, It doesnt surprise me that they are on a island and secluded from civilization. Its the typical japanese story, a cliche. Japan was secluded from most parts of the world too for ages, many mangaka or producer take this element into their story, Its nothing special. Although he did this perfectly and the manga took now an even mire crazy route ;)

Attack on a Titan took the spot as my favorite anime. Hell, it’s even one of my favorite story telling show ever. The first season is a perfect set up, the second season is the in between that adds more mysteries and flares up the ones presented in the first season, and the third season is just 20 episodes of you going “HOLY SHIT” the entire time with incredible action and most of those mysteries being answered in a very enjoyable way. AOT went from a really good anime to a fucking masterpiece
That's literally me. I swear after every episode of season 3 ends I always say holy shit. Never in my life had any show made me say that for every episode.
Same. My standard of watching anime have changed since 2013 because of AOT. After a long wait of season 2-3 (I didn't watch any other anime tbh) I finally came back watching anime and this anime is constantly improving. I've already read the manga (Cause I can't wait any longer to wait for the animation) But boi I'm still freaking in love with how the story unfolds to it's mystery. From characters being predictable to unpredictable. The concept where you thought this anime is soft for it's characters to killing them one by one because that is the harsh reality of what Iseyama's world really is. This anime, whatever the people or 'so-called' haters says about bad stuff about it, they haven't analyze why this story is such a master piece.
The character development is also a reason why I love AOT. Eren starts out as a typical shounen protagonist then turns into one of the most interesting characters in all of anime
In the words of SuperEyepatchWolf or Soul (I'm not so sure which one tbh), “Eren is a shounen protagonist in a seinen world.” He lives in a world where ideals won’t get you anywhere. He can’t just friendship through all his hardships and his naivety is slowly stripped away
@@SharpLCDTV SuperEyepatchWolf didn't say that. He just said AoT is popular becouse of zombies and the characters are basic, while he praised Mikasa. The most "basic" character in the show. SEW hates AoT. The guy who said “Eren is a shounen protagonist in a seinen world.” Is Soul. Someone who actually understands what the show is about.

dragon ball shinobi exactly! Honestly I don’t have a lot of friends that watch anime I’m kinda like the only one so I never knew it was “mainstream” but I enjoy it.
When the second season came out I stopped caring about anime and manga as well as the series all together, I'd love to get into it but I found out one of my favorite characters dies in the manga (anime isn't there yet so I won't spoil) and damn it hurts
Edit: [SPOILER ALERT] The moment Reiner revealed they were titans to Eren so casually and without any previous context while they were getting out of frame had me jumping from the couch. It was such an inovative way of surprising that I didn't know how to react. It might also be the first time I decided AOT was not only good, but GREAT. I'm so hyped out to watch Season 4... AOT IS GENIUS STORYTELLING.
They did something similar with how they introduced the Female Titan, first she's just seen running, the guys casually talking about her maybe being some aberrant, then they try to attack it and BOOM shit hits the fan.
Renier revealing himself so causally, made me think, "wait, what? No way." And then I thought about it. The way he acted, the way he confronted annie for saving Sasha. The way Bertholdt was going to bite his thumb to turn into a titan. Then, it all made sense. It also made me really pissed at Reiner, which changed when I read the manga
Truly nothing has surpassed how great of a revelation this way. Not even Game of Thrones, which got close, but understood the trajectory of the story enough to predict. This however, just... Nothing has topped it since for me.

i don't understand people who have the audacity to call attack on titan overrated- so much thought is put into this series and it is so well crafted. i really don't think an anime to this caliber will be created for at least another 10 years.
Selee Min Exactlyyy, there are such little details that have been planned out that play an important role at the end and its just fascinating how someone can really think of a plot this intricate
yeah people are sad they "wasted" 24 episodes worth of time on an anime but they don't know that it need more time to get explained literlity even naruto have more than a hundred episode and the fun start after over 50 episodes when aot only have 59 episodes in total and the fun is started alot earlier which make it really good anime
😂😂😂 They hate it because "there are no more fights, only politics," and because they don't like that Eren is a grey character. Those are literally the simplest and stupidest reasons to judge a series before watching/reading it.
The pacing of AOT always amazes me because I'm never sure how Isayama or the anime manage to pack so much story into a chapter/episode. The 2nd and 3rd season of the anime especially I feel like every episode packs in about 60 minutes worth of story into it's run time but it never feels like it is rushed.
Yeah it's realy important when they adopt it. I was wondering how they want to pack the 86,87 and 88,89 chapters into 1-1 anime episode... but they did it pretty well! ;) That's the outcome when an amazing manga and a Lit studio give birth to an adaptation.
It makes me think about how they say s4 is the final. I had stopped watching the anime but kept up with the manga, only recently getting caught up on the show. I legitimately thought I was gonna see parts get cut but NO THEY DID IT??? I have confidence they will do it justice.
I watched the first season of Attack on Titan and didn't really enjoy it as much. Looking back, I think I only said it was meh because I was tired of Eren constantly screaming lol. I also didn't have favorite characters and just didn't feel connected to the show at all. I don't know why. But then a few days ago I decided to watch the second season. I was shocked. Why didn't I watch this sooner? It was just amazing. I binged all the next three seasons in three days and read the manga from where Season 3 Part 2 left off. I used to not care about AOT, heck, maybe even dislike it for being "overrated." BOY WAS I WRONG. AOT DESERVES ALL THE HYPE IT GETS, AND IT DESERVES EVEN MORE. It is a fucking masterpiece, and is now on my top 5 anime, perhaps even top 3. Can't wait for October! Edit: It's my favorite anime now :) SnK is peak fiction.

Interesting... I much prefer the first season to the second season. In fact, the Trost arc is still my favourite story of any tv show ever. Not to say that things have gone downhill, but I do think that there was a lack of focus in season 2 and that season 3 had to play a little bit of catch-up, resulting in both seasons being *slightly* less than they could have been. I consider season 1 to be a basic masterpiece of storytelling. The set ups and payoffs are great and the extreme FOCUS of each arc really brings me into it.

@@ivanorais9284 too easy. Isayama wouldn't make it that easy for us. Yes, of course it would make perfectly sense in the way the story is written to this point, but I don't think he teases us that much for such a storyline if he would want to make it like this. He will probably come up with a solution that is different than what everyone already expects.
For some reason, it comes as a surprise seeing a video on TH-cam praising it so much. It feels like the usual approach is "it's good but not that good, just really basic with mainstream appeal." A video like this is a welcome one.
I don't get that mindset. Episodes 17 and 18 from season 3 are easily some of the best content I have ever seen in my life. Trumps any other anime I've tried getting into.

I know, right? Normally you watch a TV series or movie about aliens invading, or zombies, or whatever, and many times you think someone is stupid and they are going to lose lives and limbs because they are stupid. In Attack on Titan, they are smart, competent, strong, courageous and iron willed and you think: "Guys, I have NO IDEA how on earth you're going to survive this. I really, honestly think you might as well be doomed". Nowhere have I seen it before, really.
@@isam1542 That's such a great point. They either constantly fail or barely succeed at an incredible cost, but none of those failures are the fault of anyone. Maybe that's why the stakes always feel so real and intense to me.
Yes. And it was so honest about it, the reality and desperation of the characters and the people and the enviroment were vivid and clear and no show before attack on titan had I seen that before

Eren's dream is some random images which I believe is somewhat related to manga ending. In the same episode, Grisha goes to visit some patient but he actually goes to Reiss Chapel to take the founding Titan and then comes back and feed himself to Eren because Grisha's time was about to get over (13 year curse) There are some scenes which are related to chapter 119-122, which is a spoiler so i won't discuss it now, but believe me this episode is full of details and foreshadowing In Season 1 episode 2, Eren wakes up and he finds a key in his collar which Grisha showed him in first episode.. now we know how did he get that key. In Season 1 episode 6, we saw some Bandits killed Mikasa's parents. Bandits discussed that Oriental and Ackermann are sold at high price at the blackmarket. why? Its because King couldn't alter their memories, which is why he persecuted Ackermann and Oriental clan. This means, they are special. In Season 1 Episode 8, when Eren first transformed remember?.. Riener asked Connie "Do you know anything about that titan"? It was foreshadowing. Riener was trying to find out who that titan is. In that same episode Annie saved Connie by killing the titan, Riener says to Annie "Good work". Riener kinda hints to Annie that she is forgetting what they really came for! in Season 1 episode 9, when Eren tranformed to save mikasa and armin from that cannon fire... Riener, Annie, Bertholt were the first to run to that place where that titan lightning was coming from. In that same episode, in the flashback we saw... Grisha repeated the same lines which were said by Kruger in Season 3 episode 21. Grisha also says "Their memories will guide you". the meaning behind this line was explained in Season 3. In Season 1 episode 13, we saw a 2 sec clip of Marco. He was shocked to see something and the next time we saw him dead. What was he shocked at? In Season 3 Episode 15, we saw how Marco died (he was shocked to listen Riener and Bertholt's conversation) in Season 1 episode 15, Eren wonders "why do I know how to turn into a titan?" it's because Eren recalls the memories of Frieda Reiss (She bites her hand to turn into a titan, this was unique to Frieda and now Eren) to turn into a titan. In Season 1 Episode 17, Riener asks Armin about Eren's location and then gives the message to female titan. There are lot more, but they are spoilers from Season 4.

I dont know if his unique style can be replicated, but in terms of story and theme this has been done a million times before. And that's not a criticism!! The story of AoT is mythical... hell it's practically BIBLICAL! The story of great heroes leaving the safety of our walls in order to confront chaos so that they may bring back something of value... well that's just the story of THE hero. The monomyth. I genuinely think that one of the major appealing factors is the fact that this series is chock full of mythical symbolism. Eren discovers his power when he is LITERALLY in the belly of the beast. That power is literally a gift from his ancestor... like these are themes so deep that they may predate humanity.

It doesn't seem like a masterpiece to me. It is rife with gaping plotholes and the entire story is contrived. Why did Rod Reiss go after Eren so late? He was literally the king, he could have easily made a cadet disappear and he could have started brainwashing Historia a lot earlier too. Then his plan would have succeeded. Also, the first time Eren uses coordinate power, why was he unable to transform into a titan before that, when he had already fully healed? Sometimes his titan regenerates entire limbs within seconds and sometimes, he cannot, why is that? Why could he not use crystallization/hardening power when it is stated that it is natural for all shifters to be able to do it. Why could he not access any memories from previous holders of his titan until he reached the basement and read the diary? Why was there a separate vial for crystallization and why was it just lying around at a place when eren needed it the most? If by crytallization, titan shifters can damage the walls then why don't they do it to fully damage and break the walls? It would have taken only one hole for the wall titans to escape and then Rampage on Paradise. Since the Eldians in Marley want Paradise destroyed, why not do it? Breaking the wall would create enough confusion to allow them to steal the founding titan.
Because it's not just Eren's story but everyone's. Ymir's historia's Levi's Erwin's Mikasa's , Reiner's, Armin's and everybody's else's. That's what made me love attack on Titan so much more. It is brilliant. Thank you Isayama and Japan for this masterpiece ❤❤

I love how the power of Eren’s was hinted in the first episode when he wakes up after we see a series of flashes of future events and how he says he felt like he had a really long dream.
The foreshadowing this show does is unparalleled. The very first scene when Eren is under the tree, he wakes up from a "long dream" and crying, which the audience will understand once they know the ending; during the trials to enter the Scouts (s01e03 I think), Eren gets himself hurt and when he's on the barracks with the rest of the recruits, when can see for a bit he's "smoking" from the head, showing us a glimpse of the titan powers, which at the time we don't know that's a thing yet. He could have. I think it speaks to the power of the anime that they were able to make us believe in the world despite our meta-knowledge of story structure. I've actually never, EVER seen a death reversal pulled off so well in any form of media.
The whole reveal about Eren is that he isn’t special, he’s just someone that by circumstances, way before his birth, got chosen. It’s really obvious especially when we learn the truth about the royal family and the titans. Instead, Eren becomes the perfect vessel rather than a chosen one.

i dont think that's quite right. I think that part of the problem is that AoT LOOKS LIKE a shallow piece of edgy teen fan service. So that turns people off before they come to understanding that beneath the surface of all that is a mythical story.
Eren Yeager hunter x hunter in my opinion is a bit generic something like aot is very different from regular shounen so It’s more seinen but hunter x hunter is still good just follows a lot of shounen customs.
trequor well I mean if it has people holding on to their seats then of courses it can be considered edgy but so do a lot of other things keep people on edge while they watch does meant it’s edgy tenn fan service and tbh I don’t think that’s an actual thing, fan service is defined as something that is added to a shoe to please the audience and AOT does nothing to please the audience they just shock us and keep things “edgy”
It's actually a pretty good example of how the cycle of the oppressors being the opressed and vice versa is so easily being continued and how wars are often said to "justified" even if it only benefits their own gains

It also does similar things with secret government conspiracies that unravel over the course of the story, endless plot revelations that make the scale of the story huge and complex, racism/war between different nations, etc. One of the best shows ive ever seen. The first couple episodes are a little confusing and might lean into anime humor tropes a bit too much but its definitely worth it to stick it out
Reiner's reveal was the best villain reveal i have EVER seen, not only was my flip out a complete contrast to the casual covo and tone but the shots to other soldiers talking and walking just a few feet out of hearing distance added to that insanely. And it makes the show hit SOOOO different rewatching it (as do a lot of things tbh) and although I do have a few critiques about some plot points, characterizations, etc AOT remains my favorite anime and manga (I super recommend reading the manga along with watching the anime btw)
*"That day humanity saw a grim reminder"* Was it really for the people living inside the walls OR that day the Eren we see now came to existence. What was grim? Wall breach? Or Eren's rage? We can only know in the end for whom it was really meant for.
So what you mean is, the writer of Aot should have been the one to write seasons 4 to 8 of Game of Thrones. Pretty much all the bad things you mention were done by the got writers.
I’m gonna be honest. I was one of those people who thought it was overrated and boring. But during this quarantine i saw a lot of talk for the Season 4 trailer. I was looking for something new to watch so I caved in and started watching it. I recently finished Season 3 and can confidently say Attack On Titan is the best anime i’ve ever seen and needless to say Attack On Titan made me eat my own words.
The amount of foreshadowing in the beginning of attack on Titan is mind blowing , nice concepts and revelations I still can’t believe how people think it’s bad
Eren saw his mom getting eaten before it happened, just like how the guy who gave Eren’s Dad the attack titan power knew who mikasa and armin were. Eren has some future vision.
When I started reading/watching and the story says "We're the only humans" I'm like ehhhh DOUBT. I knew who the Armored and Colossal Titans were, about the government being shitty w.e. SO WHEN THE STORY STILL GRABS ME BY THE BALLS, THIS STORY IS WORTH ALL MY LOVE. There's still much to be surprised by, but unlike so many other stories, it's ALL about execution. And DAMN the pacing, the organization, and the amount of thought giving into revealing information is so masterful. I'm very happy for everyone that puts work into this sbow.
I'm an author myself and my story takes place in a very similar setting and premise as Attack On titan. This video really helped me understand what to do with the storyline and what to lessen from it. Thanks!
i'd say the best lesson to take from AoT is to *stay on theme* ! AoT never betrays its essential themes! It is a dystopian tragedy from start to finish.
@Druhin Ghosh It's almost finished and I'm currently looking for a publisher, thanks for taking interest! It's called Kotvik, not sure about the subtitle yet but that's the main title.
When people say they have no attachment to the characters because they don’t stand out. Uhm, Ymir’s and Historia’s backstory? Sasha and Connie’s families? Eren’s entire existence?? Erwin and Levi’s tragic life? Jean’s reason for joining the survey corps? Bertholdt and Annie’s mission? Reiner’s entire psychological development? Idk, maybe we haven’t been watching the same show.
It's literally an emotional marathon. Loved each and every one of them (except for the pest who shot Sasha. I get that she "improves", it just doesn't do it for me- I hate her).
Why this video is so underrated.......this video have shown so much technicality about story telling, covering up every aspect. The explanation is so accurate, finally giving me answers y i love this show and y i was disappointed with some other shows Honestly ,its a shame that more people aren't watching this(BOTH AOT AND THIS VIDEO)
Two years ago, I watched your video with no expectation or desire to watch/read AoT. I was simply bored and really enjoyed your Dragon Ball content, so I figured I'd give this one a try too. Six minutes into watching I paused and went to start watching the anime. Here we are today. I've watched every episode, movie, and OVA, and I've read every manga chapter of this MASTERPIECE that is AoT. I am eternally grateful to Hajime Isayama, for birthing this epic tale, and to you, for introducing me to it. Thank you.
Huh, that "2000 years from now" chapter title from manga just gave me chills. Not a manga reader myself but hv heard everywhere season 4 is gonna get even better!! I mean I can't even think of it being better. Seson 3 part 2 was just so purely epic and mind blowing and knowing that someting even better is yet to come, It's not just hype... I mean I can't express these feelings into words.
Attack on Titan season 3 literally concluded like a Black Mirror episode. I was so unbelievably shocked and astonished by how profound the story suddenly got. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
Anyone get the easter egg I left at the very end?
Don't forget to leave a like or dislike! Really helps

It's too mainstream and boring.
Kidding, it's fantastic. I'm not as hyped for what's to come next as I was when I first finished season one. But *boy* I'm excited to see where this goes now. Thanks for the video. It's nice to see you tackle other topics here and there.

I heard that Isayama, the writer of the manga spent 5 years plotting the whole series before he started writing it.
Everything in AOT builds up, absolutely no retcons, no coincidences (which occur a lot if u just go along)
Edit: as of chapter 137, theres absolutely 0% chance Isayama didn't plan this beginning to end
In a interview, Isayama said that he named Mikasa over a Japanese battleship. There is a legend that if your name a character or your work over a Japanese warship. It is bound to be acknowledged by the entire world.
If you were a true fan you would know that he wrote the manga based off a future memory

Victor M shut the fuck up....you serious?

AoT is a masterpiece, but, It doesnt surprise me that they are on a island and secluded from civilization. Its the typical japanese story, a cliche. AOT went from a really good anime to a fucking masterpiece
season 4 will bring it to a whole new level, especially with the newest revelation in the manga. you're gonna love it

Chad eren incoming lol
In the words of SuperEyepatchWolf or Soul (I'm not so sure which one tbh), “Eren is a shounen protagonist in a seinen world.” He lives in a world where ideals won’t get you anywhere. He can’t just friendship through all his hardships and his naivety is slowly stripped away
Get ready for sociopath Eren in Season 4!

The moment Reiner revealed they were titans to Eren so casually and without any previous context while they were getting out of frame had me jumping from the couch.
I got spoiled about this, but I was like "WTF? There's no way this is how they revealed it"

After 20 minutes of AOT I feel like I've experienced and learned more than from an hour episode of Game of Thrones it's amazing.
It makes me think about how they say s4 is the final. I had stopped watching the anime but kept up with the manga, only recently getting caught up on the show. I legitimately thought I was gonna see parts get cut but NO THEY DID IT??? I have confidence they will do it justice.

Interesting... I much prefer the first season to the second season. In fact, the Trost arc is still my favourite story of any tv show ever.

I'm only going to mention some of the details in Season 1 which was a foreshadowing to the events of later seasons
In season 1 Episode 1, There were 2 birds called cormorant bird and they are found near coastal areas, It was a foreshadowing to ocean episode. also, in first few seconds of the series is "Eren's dream". In Season 1 episode 2, Eren wakes up and he finds a key in his collar which Grisha showed him in first episode.. now we know how did he get that key.
In Season 3 Episode 15, we saw how Marco died (he was shocked to listen Riener and Bertholt's conversation)
in Season 1 episode 15, Eren wonders "why do I know how to turn into a titan?" it's because Eren recalls the memories of Frieda Reiss (She bites her hand to turn into a titan, this was unique to Frieda and now Eren) to turn into a titan.
In Season 1 Episode 17, Riener asks Armin about Eren's location and then gives the message to female titan.
There are lot more, but they are spoilers from Season 4.

there will never be another series quite like attack on titan again. unless Isayama can make his second manga series a masterpiece aswell.

Me too
yeh same, i thought they were just big man eating creatures that came out of nowhere and then once you actually finish all 3 seasons , everything just pieces together. one of the most well crafted shows of all time for sure

Eren Yeager huh?
i dont think that's quite right.
Im here today, on the day the final chapter was released, to say it has delivered. No longer a classic in the making, but a classic completed.

Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood! If you liked the vague early-1900s WW1 Europe aesthetic of Marley and stuff then you’d love this show.
And it makes the show hit SOOOO different rewatching it (as do a lot of things tbh)

Shit I forgot Armin LOL
It's literally an emotional marathon. Loved each and every one of them (except for the pest who shot Sasha. I get that she "improves", it just doesn't do it for me- I hate her).
@@catcollector1257 , Armin.... first time I cried my eyes out for a whole episode, and was left shaking for long after.
Why this video is so underrated.......this video have shown so much technicality about story telling, covering up every aspect. The explanation is so accurate, finally giving me answers y i love this show and y i was disappointed with some other shows
Honestly ,its a shame that more people aren't watching this(BOTH AOT AND THIS VIDEO)
PLZ cover more AoT, so few do and you are the best!
The raptor on the plane scene was added to highlight Grant’s unease about returning to an island of dinosaurs.
Look at me, defending JP3, lmao.
that doesn't make it less silly

Two years ago, I watched your video with no expectation or desire to watch/read AoT. I was simply bored and really enjoyed your Dragon Ball content, so I figured I'd give this one a try too. Six minutes into watching I paused and went to start watching the anime. Here we are today. I've watched every episode, movie, and OVA, and I've read every manga chapter of this MASTERPIECE that is AoT. I am eternally grateful to Hajime Isayama, for birthing this epic tale, and to you, for introducing me to it. Thank you.
Can't wait for Eren's appointment with Ymir.
Y. Fritz: "First time?"
Your name and photo are already spoilers 🤣
Wait what
Huh, that "2000 years from now" chapter title from manga just gave me chills.
Even the manga readers who already know what's gonna happen , is not ready for season 4
It's gonna be that epic
Attack on Titan season 3 literally concluded like a Black Mirror episode. I was so unbelievably shocked and astonished by how profound the story suddenly got. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!
