    For those that dont know. The owner of PXG is a former US Marine. I find it hilarious that he has used some pretty well known “numeric indicators” to Marines in the naming of these clubs. Just for your reference and entertainment. 0311 is the designator for an Infantryman in the Marines. An 0811 is the designator for an Artillaryman. I have seen 0211 as well which is the designator for an Infantry Officer. Just think thats a little comical.

    I have 0311t with steelfibre 95 shafts and love them. I also have cobra one length forged irons and must say they feel very close! Forged with elastomer filling accomplished the amazing feel. Now, PXG hybrids feel SO incredible it’s really something. Super super high quality there. I never did try their driver or woods. The irons and the hybrids are certainly incredible and feel good even on mishits- yet still let you know you mishit them.

    I think companies are able to charge whatever they want. Free market, people. They aren't for everyone, as shown by the fact that their sales numbers cut more into Miura and other "luxury" golf companies. I won't be buying a set, can't wrap my head around their prices, but more power to them.

      What I hate is the trend that has only gotten worse in the past years of marketing everything towards the rich in golf. PXG 5 grand, new callaway epics over 2 grand, new titleist irons said to be around 3 grand. I get that golf is an elitist sport and all but if things keep going the way they are with no options for the average golfer other than to buy used/older clubs how many new players enter the game? How many clubs will the average golf shop sell?
      Ping should come out with an iron called FPXG. They look exactly like them, dont have the fancy metal, cost around a thousand dollars. I guess they could call them PnG or something as to avoid lawsuit.

    • @75fable
      @75fable 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is an awful argument. PXG aside, you mention Callaway and Titelist. While yes they have some new super expensive sets, they still have starter sets and mid range sets as well. Callaway has 6 or 7 sets available with a bunch of different price points. The "average" golfer has plenty of options available, these are just created for a specific target group.

    • @garrettnobles8956
      @garrettnobles8956 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am a callaway fitter/products expert. They do have a good price range. $600-$2000. Just salty about the Epic irons price point more than anything. Had five or more members who bought the driver from me and wanted to be fit for the irons when they came out and they all laughed when I told them the price.

    Great review... I really like the tech they're using. It's great to be able to keep the top line thin and have more technology into a blade style iron. The weights are great, and as a fitter, i like them because it allows me to fine tune not only the swingweight, but the CG position - which it doesnt' look like a lot of guys do other than to fit. I wasn't a fan of the look when they came out, but the more i look at them and the more i see them in person - i really really am starting to like them, even with all the exposed weights.

    Ping influence coming from the fact that he stole a couple of their top engineers and club designers which was smart but not nearly as smart as the purchase process. Besides them being good solid clubs he has it set up for you to succeed or at least as much as possible. The trick is you can't just walk into a store and buy them, you have to get custom fit which is a big factor in how well you play. Other golf shops even though they say they also offer custom fitting they really are just trying to sell you clubs off the rack because that's where their best commission is. A custom order ships direct from the manufacturer and they don't get credit for the sale (at least that's how it works in the US). So he's taken advantage of that gap by making you get properly fit and setting you up for success as much as possible. So now people will equate their better play with the club when it's really just a good proper fitting where the employees have no agenda other than to sell you the right version of that one product. Very clever.

    I have a set of the 0311 in xtreme dark. They are beautiful clubs to look at and hit, feel very soft and off centre hits fly really well. Seen a lot of comments about price which are negative, which I cannot understand as PXG have been very upfront about the pricing strategy. Have had nothing but compliments about the clubs and that is from people who have said "who are PXG?" so it does not come from being impressed by the cost. Good review, away to watch the 0811 driver review as I have one of them as well.

    Here to stay....one would have never expected say 5 years ago that Nike wasn't...As long as the current trend continues to build for not just custom fit but custom built clubs and "brand" orientation and enough people with bucks go that way, they will stay in business. Unlike many of the pop-up "brands" that are hitting golf with a lot of cool looking stuff...this one has a lot of cash behind it so as long as Parsons is willing to burn cash and there is a market they will be here.

    Some of the comments on these clubs are funny, if someone has the money to buy these clubs then more power to you. Just because you would not buy them doesn't make the person that did a bad person. Sounds like some of you are jealous. Jealousy will kill you. If you won the lottery and had the money to buy a Ferrari, you would, don't lie. I'm a middle class man, but I'll tell you right now that I work hard to get ahead, and if I can buy something to make me happy then I'm gonna do it. I see people all the time that have a lot more than I have, and maybe one day I will be able to live comfortably like that. I'm not jealous though, never have been.

  • @littlewag7

    Sure, these are good clubs. But hitting a 31 degree 7 iron doesn't make the clubs "a long hitting club". My PSi Tours are 34 degree 7 iron, so this is like me hitting a 6 iron. My 6 iron carries 175, so I don't get the argument of how these are so long

    not worth the price Golf Club will not make you a better golfer. A 20 handicap spends 5 grand on a set of those clubs he's still going to be a 20 handicap. I always thought golf was who can shoot the lowest score not who can spend the most $ on equipment.

How much improvements has any past gen 2 players found in other manufacturers? Hard to leave my gen 2s. Hell I’ve replaced 3 of my gen 2s with a newer gen 2 through eBay etc. but I think it’s time to move on? Recommendations welcomed

    31 degrees. That's a 6i not that long ago. Maybe even near a 5i loft if you go back a few years. Golf marketing of full of bullshit about R&D and materials. All you need to do to flog big hitting irons is to lower the lofts, bling them up and spruik about unobtanium.

    I don't think there has been a review that I have more anticipated than this one. I would describe the PXG brand like a rolex watch. Sure there are lots of other watches out there that all tell the time, but PXG are just something more, the feel, the look, the brand, its honestly just the rolex of golf clubs. I've hit the irons but I've never hit the driver. I'm interested to see how that performs.

      Our newest GEN3 irons are 5X forged, per club, and the backside surface is CNC milled. These processes alone are a major reflection of the price point. They are currently special priced at $340 USD per iron. We also have some other great special pricing offers going on right now that are worth checking out. Our 0211 irons are available for $95 USD per iron, making a full set about $760. ^A

      Pxg is taking a different approach than Nike, Nike went to the mass with an average priced clubs. Pxg is going after the luxury market like miura, more individualized, sell less sets at a higher cost. It’s worked for these smaller Japanese brands for years and many smaller luxury brands. I know the rep in the us that fit me was excited that in his first few months he sold over 600k in product just by going from club to club with the tour van. So I’d say they’re doing pretty well and most people notice they are hitting pxg better because pxg requires you to get fitted, in the USA it’s free, so the rep makes sure to place you with the proper lie, weights and shaft. Rick may have hit the 0311t further because the standard demo t comes with a stiffer heavier shaft than the 0311. Until pxg I never knew how many steel shafts were out there, I tried 11 different ones in x flex and one steel fiber shaft, which is steel, carbon and graphite combined. The shaft I like and was fitted for on the titleist irons I like was a $55 per club upcharge and is no upcharge on the 0311t’s. So adding $400 to the $1900 tmb set plus the $5 per a grip the mc’s would make the titleist irons cost more than the pxg’s. And for less than the titleist I was even able to get my 4 iron with the graphite design tour ad di 95 shaft, that is another $175 option for titleist and standard on pxg. It’s funny pxg driver is 650 or 800 depending on the model while my callaway epic driver was 500 and 335 extra for the graphite design ad di shaft, which would have been no upcharge from pxg. So depending on the shafts you use the clubs really aren’t that bad.

    Thanks, Rick. Just checked a UK golf magazine who give a price of £240 per club. That's around £2,000 per set of irons, depending on your bag make-up. A US site gives £300 per club. Great clubs but outside my price range. Are you looking to sell your old Hogans?

  • @makemyday1477
    @makemyday1477 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks again for a well done video. I always believe it's the Indian and not the arrow, but you have shown that a well made arrow is also important. As for the price, your right if you want to drive a Ferrari it's gonna cost you, although a Chevy will get you to the same place eventually it's all about the feel of the ride. Will I run out and buy a set, probably not, because if I want to hit the ball 10 yards further I'll just get a bigger club out of my bag and save about $4k. Sooner or later they'll be making some pretty good knockoffs for a lot less, or they will just bring the prices down to a reasonable range. Just like the Honma's, they were also high dollar clubs that eventually went belly up because they priced themselves out of the market. You can buy a set of them for $100.00 now. So you don't only need to make a good product you have to make it affordable or the masses won't buy it no matter how good it is. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos, top quality and it's free.

    Can you please review the new 0211 DC and the ST. The lower price tag makes these irons very very attractive. I have seen many video reviews so far all talk to the quality and design and usually only show the 7 iron which has very minimal offset or the full lineup with little in-depth review. I would love to know more about the progressive offset mainly in the long irons. I currently have little to no offset on my Nike VR ProCavity

    These pxgs are buttery there is no doubt about it. But i have a hard time believing that I'm going to get $250 more out of a set of pxgs compared to my mizunos. If i was rich and had no concern about money then sure. But being a mere mortal who works for his money, i find it hard to spend the money of 3 top end Callaway sets to get 1 pxg set.

    call me old-fashioned, but 32* is a 6 iron in my book (5 iron if i'm really old-fashioned). i don't much like the idea of a 7 iron (or 6 iron) that doesn't pretty much stay put when it hits the green. however it is numbered, a 32* iron needs to hold the green. does this software reflect realistic results as far as that is concerned?

    Way too far.....too pumped up. If I were PXG, I'd make sure my lofts were true to traditional lofts. Holds more value than fatty yardage irons. If you decide to go with these, that really pushes the top end of your bag, which will screw up gapping. You better have a stout driver distance if you're going to put these in your bag #showoverfunction #gapsthesizeofTexas

    I work in the golf industry in Phoenix and I had 3 Co workers that took jobs at PXG. I currently game Miura Mb tournaments. and when I hit the PXG 0311 they feel the exact same in the middle as miura. I hit both clubs back to back to back. both the softest feeling clubs that I've ever hit. but their is quite a noticeable difference on off center strikes. I was quite impressed on the size of pxg sweet spot. it's huge. that is in part due to the fact that the face is so thin on those clubs they have to inject a proprietary poly-elastomer in the middle, to help the structural integrity of the head. I was told of you did not, u could cave the face in. as we all know a thinner face means more ballspeed.
    my answer to my buddies when I go play... "well, just hit the center of the face and u won't have any problems" lol

    For me as an engineer they look very cheap... To use screws for the weighting is probably the cheapest method. I couldn't think of a cheaper one. The production costs for these clubs should be extremely low. Not sure why these clubs are so expensive.
