Nice video. I just bought a Raspberry Pi 4 8GB & a MMDVM Duplex Hotspot Module Dual Hat (the hat arrives tomorrow). Do I need to do anything to the RP prior to this? Or is everything more or less configured onto the SD card? Just making my plan of attack for when I get all my parts. I should t have to do anything g but physically connect hat to RP, follow steps in video & write everything to the card. I’m an IT guy, but first time playing with a RP. Thanks!
UPDATE: I went ahead & configured my SD card and have it sitting in my RP now; just waiting for my hat to show up to slap it on, the power it all up & configure it as shown in the video. Good first video for me regarding DMR hotspot setup.

You skipped over the exact thing I watched this video for, the DMR config. I think one reason you weren't seeing any change when you selected the DMR management tab is because you skipped some config. Once you enable DRM in the config page and save, you must go back to that same config page. Now, under the OLED screen config you will see new options to set up stuff like your hotspot security key.

On my dashboard screen for the modem, I have green blocks for DMR, DMR Net, and TS2 Enabled. But, under DMR Master I have RED blocks for BM 3102 United States, and for TGIF Network. Should they show GREEN? The dashboard shows my radio and callsign when I transmit, all normal. I think the modem is not passing data to the network...???

Have you double checked your password to connect the hotspot with the BM network?

Hi Tim, I'm having trouble sorting the img, I copy it to the SD card with the programm it checks the img file then there is something wrong with the img very odd any ideas 💡 the first time it stared to work see the gray information hung up then lost the 192.168. will watch your video it's a nitemare ... I set up my Nextion HRO Zumspot, I can received fine but my transmission is not heard, that is the report I get from others. I am using a FT2DR

Is your hotspot a simplex or duplex model? Most are simplex, one antenna. If it is Simplex, make sure you do not have a repeater offset set in your radio.

​@@edgardoramos6061 Good deal. Just make sure you do not have an offset selected. Most newer radios will automatically select the offset you if you select a frequency within the repeater portion of the bandplan. Depending on the radio, you might be able to over ride the duplex option and select Simplex. One caveat I have found with DSTAR, you have to select Duplex with a 0 MHz offset on your radio or your voice traffic will not leave the hotspot, event if you select the non repeater section of the band.

Just burned this img to an sd card. I have to say this is extremely slow to boot compared to pi-star. Running on a pi zero w 1 gen.

I believe that is a single core board. It will run, but they recommend a minimum of a four core board like the Pi Zero 2W
