9 mm originated in Germany by Vauen I believe, and this does not means inferior pipes, actually very easy to smoke with no condensation worries. Large enought for most decent size bowls.

I love those Sav balsa filters. I just picked up a pack of Aldo Velani balsa filters but haven’t tried them yet. You ask a good question and I’m sorry to say I have nothing to offer as an answer. Great video, my friend!

So, I did it carefully with a 8mm (eight) drill by hand! Now I have my Savinelli ks 320 with 9mm filter instead of 6mm. Just a new taste! Love it...

the american market seems to prefer 3 mm non-filtered or 6mm filtered corn cobs. it's much harder to find 9mm pipes in america. meanwhile I find myself only buying turkiewicz 9mm polish morta pipes for this exact reason. I like to actually feel the smoke not just feel like i'm sipping it through a coffee straw.

As far as my knowledge goes, you are correct that 9mm filters originated in Europe. But 6mm filters originated here in the United States. I.E. Dr. Grabow and Medico. Due to this most importers simply bring in the 6mm filtered pipes. At this point 6mm is our standard while 9mm is theirs.
At the end of my filter phase I was simply ordering Savinelli 9mm pipes directly from Savinelli. I have since dropped filters and use the adapters. I personally find 3mm filter-less draw hole superior. But that's just me.

I think I’m the US, artisan pipe makers see filtered pipes as inferior for some reason. I wonder if that drives the market.

My opinion it is harder to make a 9 mm filtered pipe add to that the perception that your, not a real pipe smoker if you use filters, that drives the pipe market I saw it first hand at the pipe
show I asked on a few tables any 9mm pipes and it was almost always a hostel type answer lol

It’s sad you don’t see more retailers catering to the needs of their customers.

I don’t use a filter. I just never really saw the purpose. I will also tell you the unfinished series bid awesome. Morgan Pipes also sells a line called the Bones series. Man are they awesome. I always thought bthT the Tobacco kinda works as a. Filter. I don’t know just never used them. Probably not a help but that’s all I got. LoL . Keep em burning.
