    I tried this today. The trout were biting slow on a basic wedding ring and a worm trolled at 1.25mph, so after about an hour with no action, I added a kokanee dodger. The trout went wild and I caught three more trout to finish out my limit in 10 minutes.

    On a spinning reel, flip the anti-reverse lever, slowly reel backwards and count the turns of the handle to get the exact same distance each time. If all the reels in the boat don't match, measure 1 turn when you start.

    I like to troll a black wooly bugger by Joe’s Flies also. Basically just a wooly bugger with a spinning blade in front of it, much like a Rooster tail spinner. It’s the step between running naked or with a dodger. Dodger and hoochie is our go to setup on our Sunday morning trout trips to the local lake. Another great video from Spilt Milt 👍

    Thanks for your opinion! Keep the videos coming! Love the Kokanee trips. Im also setting up some rods with sliding weight system. Just need to work out running depths with my setups! Tight lines!

    What about a dodger vs a flasher (lake troll, beer can, fender, etc.)? Thanks for the great content.

    Can you do a test on a lure that makes it own attraction? A 2.5 Mag Lips vs a Dodger and 2.5 mag lips. Both on a downrigger at same depth.

    I love your side by sides, but I really think this needs to be done again with a lure that has its own action like a needlefish or wedding ring.

      Have you done good trolling needle fishes because I got some for Easter and I’m wondering what’s the best way to rig them for some trolling?

    • @stingray4540
      @stingray4540 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@katiecox1232 yes, I’ve caught tons of trout on needlefish. You can fish them alone, behind leadcore or a downrigger, or behind flashers or a dodger. One of my favorite go to trolling lures.

      Silver for cloudy days and morning/evening, gold and copper on sunny days, chartreuse or green or purple or blue for depths below 40', pink red or orange for above 40'

  • @Badkharma21

    How much leader do you put ahead of your lead core? I’m running 25 ft for landlocked Atlantic salmon but I feel like it’s too much and the spoon likely moves up in water column when trolling. Could I go to a 6 foot leader that includes a snubber, dodger and bait?

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use leadcore.

      @@spiltmilt upstate ny. NY had a Kokanee program in the 70's and early 80's but has long since been discontinued with no thought of return. I see a lot of youtubes from Washington especially yours so I thought that is where I should go. Retirement has afforded me the ability to go most any time. At first I thought about driving out with my slayer max but now think that is a bit ambiguous.I am therefore looking for a guided trip

    Once you loosen your drag to do the 25 pulls and get your line back far enough where u want it, do you tighten your drag back up or leave it loose so the fish can take the lure without feeling resistance? Thanks and I love your videos! Your great at explaining things!

    I think you should re-do this side by side... your 1/8oz lead is not the same weight as the dodger used..

    More on the topic of attractor location- If I were to try a "side by side" one with and one without, on a stacked downrigger(thanks for that video), would you put the dodger/flasher above or below?
    Also, if you want another idea for a topic, please discuss transducer freq and what to choose. I understand the differing cone angle, but what scenarios warrant what freqs?

    • @spiltmilt
