How To CATCH Trout & Kokanee Using Dodgers (BIG Kokanee Caught!)

- Fishing dodgers for trout and Kokanee is one of the best ways to target and catch these fish. Kokanee or Trout dodgers travel through the water at a certain motion moving side-to-side creating flash and vibration to attract trout or Kokanee from a distance. Once the Kokanee comes in, if your setup has the proper leader length the dodger will whip the lure back and forth. The combo of the flash and wobbler brings the fish in, then the Kokanee or trout sees your setup and eats your lure! Good video. I don't like lead weights either, but I like lead core line. When I'm using a down rigger and my wife is using lead core line, she will out catch me every single time. Although, if the fish are too deep, lead core line becomes impractical .

That would be pretty sick. Every once in awhile you can see emm swim around by the dock. I've never tried to fish for them but it would be pretty sweet see how to try
When I've gone up there, I've always carried a big casting rod and some big jerk baits/spoons...but have yet to ever actually cast it. I LOOVE to eat Kokanee, and while it would be cool AF to catch a muskie, just not a priority.
I do some most of my fishing on a tube any suggestions on Kokanee fishing in a tube???
Need to grab my Dad and get my butt up there. Long since out of smoked Kokanee/trout. Mebbe wait til those big stockers go in as they smoke up great, and actually cut decent for a hatchery fish.

When I learned to fish Kokanee as a kid we just used non-dyed shoe peg that was soakiled in Rubbing Alcohol. Thoughts?

They do sell lines that change color at different depth and some have measurements on them by looking at the color you can see how many yards you casted out.
What's the best Kokanee color's? We don't have them in the East.

What's your go-to for a lighter kokanee set up? This is definitely most effective but doesn't seem as fun with all the gear just hauling in fish without much fight
Did you add the tape to the Brad's Dodger? And where did you purchase it.
I work for Brad's killer fishing gear and we are very low on Dodgers, orders come in every day about for them and we cant fill them. We have a Dodger shipment coming in so you should see more on the pegs in stores around the northwest here soon. The Dodger he has is one that we do not have In stock. When you're trolling below aboout 40 ft, it's basically dark. IMHO, color would be secondary to vibratio/movement and/or shape.
Hopefully one day I’ll be able to do some koanee fishing, you guys should do a Kokanee catch and cook

I use dodgers for kokanee. I've never tried Brad's dodgers though. I caught 2 kokanee today while trolling for brown trout using a 5" yellow minnow plug going 2.3 mph. Weird right?

This is how I troll in my local lake and I catch considerably more fish than most people out there. I think people think a flasher will scare bows for some reason.
Who else is guessing Riffe Lake?
There are no kokanee in Riffe. Too many boats and the water level is too high for it to be Riffe. I think it is his home lake, farther to the south.
My dogs name is dodger and he was on the bed with me and every time u said dodger my do just looked at me like bruh what do u want
