Just caught two big fat trout in Lake Arrowhead, California trolling with nightcrawlers. Used everything except the hook as they didn't sell them at BassPro. So bent the shanks. Worked like a charm. Smashed my poll and reel went singing. So awesome. Biggest trout of my life. My business partner caught his with the same method 20 minutes later. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip! Trolling was tough today only short strikes but nothing would commit so I put on a slow death hook and trolled a crawler about 1.5 mph behind a Mack’s flash light and hooked up not even 2 minutes into the troll. Thanks man love your stuff 😎🎣

Back when I deckhanded for Capt Balls on the Carrie, out of the Wharf in the early 70’s, he always made sure his hooks had a proper bend so the anchovies spun when trolled. Funny seeing it applied to worms. Do you every think that what is used to catch Salmon in the ocean would be just as effective for trout in lakes? Love your videos. Will be trolling worms in Twin Lakes this weekend....need to bend some hooks!

Fish will most always hit pretty hard, if you are getting a lot of short hits.......slow down or pump the rod to impart a bit of hesitation once and a while this will allow the fish to get the lure in its mouth. Fish do not intentionally take a "little bite" they want it all. They have not taken the lure because you have not allowed them to, fish will not follow a lure for ever, they will chase it for a while and then will leave it . For a fish it is all about expending a certain amount of energy for a meal, if they have to expend to much energy they will look for an easier meal.

Trolling nightcrawler? I have done this for years, but now I have a hook to try. Thanks. I was being skunked on the local lake one day, and watched a new comer rocking things pretty good. I got close enough to see how he was doing it and he was rebating A LOT. But he was the only one even getting bites. He was trolling the newer Gulp Garlic dough bait. So I tried it and .... game on. Secret is, don't get stuck using tried and true, when tried and true is not working. Try something else. Nice vid, though. Gave away a local secret. Darn.

Would you still use a 30 inch leader when behind a dodger when using a slow death hook? In previous videos you suggested 2 to 3 times the dodger length to create action. Would the spinning from the slow death hook and dodger be too much action at that shorter length leader? Thank you for your response ahead of time.
