    I just started using a lead core setup for Lake Trout in my kayak on Ontario lakes. In July I bagged a 21 incher, a 13in and 2 babies. The lead core takes a bit of management in a kayak but it's well worth it!! I'm hooked!! Lol Thanks for the excellent video!!

    In my years of fishing I’ve never tried a down rigger. Looks like it was a fun day with great weather and little wind. Always a plus 👍

    You need to put snubbers on the back of your Dipsey Divers. The strechy snubbers will help on hooking fish and make it harder to break off. Use 20 pound flouro to go the spoon. Little Kokanee snubbers, 4-8 inches, might be enough...? Great Lakes snubbers are i-2 foot long.

      If you’re looking for Lake Trout, I would recommend contacting Fish Springs Marina. I believe there is a guide who works out of that particular Marina.

      I reached out to Chuck and this is what he told me. “I use #45 for lead core and #35 or #45 for stacker downriggers rod with counter. Bottom downrigger reel can be reels can be any size does not require a counter if downrigger has a counter.”

    Video was posted a few days ago. Was it July when it happened. What depth worked for you. Renting a boat on Monday and would be beyond estatic to pull in a few trout. We don’t have down riggers but deep diving crank baits and dipsy divers. Any suggestions?

      @MichaelKaal-TriFisher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, most of the fish were caught between 30 and 40 feet. I filmed this video a last weeks ago. I hope you guys catch a bunch

      Thanks. We got chased off by a storm Gillian’s island style but I’m hooked. Headed back up there in a few weeks with my own boat. Rewatched the video again and appreciate the detail you gave.

    You should try Rapala's Deep Tail Dancers plugs. I like the two bigger sizes. They are a good early morning in the 3 UV colors: Green Tiger, Pink Tiger, and Orange Tiger. I put Orange Tigers out o lead-core line first thing in the morning. They usually catch the first fish. They catch a lot of 4-8 pound Lakers. When the sun gets high I usually switch to Purpledescent or some other color. I also like their Scatter Rap Tail Dancers. They have a rounded lip that makes swing from side to side, very erratic! They don't dive as deep. Sometimes I put them on the downrigger instead of spoons.

    You should try casting a vertical jigging at them I’ve caught a lot of rainbow trout that way

    • @MichaelKaal-TriFisher
      @MichaelKaal-TriFisher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that’s actually the one way I have caught them before. I was vertical jigging when I like trout hit. I’m definitely going to have to look into that more.
