I got the CF PRO Race 29 Capra in August and so far have had zero complaints mechanically, but I do have a positive story about my customer service experience. I (completely my own fault) purchased the 27 and did not realize I had until I got the confirmation email from YT about the bike shipping. Chock it up to excitement... or just me being dumb lol. So I reached out via email and within about an hour had a response back. Worked with a Jordan on my mistake and they got me completely squared away AND managed to get me a discounted rush delivery so I would still get my bike in time for a trip to Snowshoe (again on something that was COMPLETELY my own fault). Loving the bike, and glad to see someone that has had one a year and rides WAYYY more/harder than I do give it a good review!! Thanks for the video!
I know this is old, but... really nice to see how you're very realistic about the bike, not complaining about its parts or being picky and annoying with small details (as some other youtubers do). Like... let's be honest: most of us couldn't tell the difference between different brands if we were on a "blind test" an you're pretty honest about it! Congrats!
2016 Jeffsy owner here. Frame bearings are amazing, they still last and here in nordic region it rains all the time... BB was crap, replaced as soon as it needed service. Pike got replaced under warranty in 2018 so did the Reverb, no complaints towards YT, they did not make them. Rear shock was a pain and stuck all the time, at some point I learned how to service it myself and got a ton of spare overhaul kits, but eventually just changed the shock and it has been great. Sram guide RSC-s died before the first set of pads could wear out, was very disappointed and angry, replaced them with 4-piston XT 2019, never felt better, will avoid Guides in the future. Sram GX drivetrain is bulletproof and still running, just adore it. DT Swiss wheels are just THE WHEELS to go. Dirt all the time, absolutely zero problems, minimum maintenance, never needed truing. Ibex Onza tyres are great. Can definetely recommend the YT. Warranty haggling sucks but You sort of expect it, after all You save a lot compared to bikes LBS is selling, especially here. Similarly specced Scott would have cost me nearly three times more.
Sweet Vids! This bike has made me a more confident rider and fits me so much better than my previous bikes (2015 Nomad, 2014 V10, 2007 VPfree, 2001 Bullet) YT service & communication has been pretty good. I’ve had no issues with the frame, just components they selected Here are the fixes and changes I’ve done on 2019 Capra PR after six months - (6’3” 225lbs shore rider) • Replaced the tires in the first month as I was not confidant on the e*13 • Changed the grips to Squarewave XL for my big mitts • Fox 150mm dropper to a One-up 210mm • Trailmaster DT swap on the saddle as it’s a bit comfier • 32t to a 28t in the front and 10-50 on the rear… now she climbs! • The Adaptive Preload Adjuster thing on the e*thirteen cranks lasted a few weeks so I shimmed it • The Raceface pedals were a deal but the right one flew off the spindle a few times till I used lock tight, then the bearings went, and I warrantied them • The headset bearing went - YT sent a new one • The BB is gone but I haven’t changed it yet • The e*13 chain guide is weak and I glued it together - but its not great • I’ve popped 4 rear spokes and then rebuilt it with all straight gauge spokes now • The rear hub has come loose twice - and it too loud (I added grease, way quieter) • The bond from stanchion to crown failed - replaced under warranty and got to cut my own steer tube height
If i pop a spoke can i also take the opportunity to rebuild a wheel with a different hub? Mine is not micro spline compatible and i want to replace my deore 2x10 with an slx 1x12
I've been pounding on a 170mm Lyrik for two seasons. I'm sure I'm well past the service interval and the fork is working fine. I have no complaints with it. The thing seems to be bullet proof. I do intend to service it this winter. My opinion is that any established bike or component manufacturer knows what they are doing by now. I think selection comes down to personal preference in most cases. I'm partial to mid and long travel bikes but I'm not brand loyal. I think they're all pretty good.
I have a 2016 Al comp Capra which I bought brand new direct from YT. Still riding it regularly 2-3 times a week all year. Bike is bulletproof. Ridden plenty of enduros and DH tracks. Only issue I have ever had was the reverb dropper which got sorted within a week under warranty. That was 2.5 years ago. No problems since. Love it and when I eventually get rid I will get another. 👍🏼
Hi geezer, I bought a 2019 YT CAPRA got it delivered in July, the whole building experience I loved as I was waiting months for delivery, the whole bike as a package was fantastic value for money and all components were and are still great only a few niggles but for the price no problem. The bike will go absolutely anywhere- I mean anywhere! Shred big downhills and still climb anything, fox 36 and fox rear fantastic, guide rs brakes again perfect, e'thirteen tyres great, loads of grip and no punctures ( not converted to tubeless yet) 10 month on and I ride every week- in fact after my next 13- 15 mile ride tomorrow I will have covered 200+ miles during lockdown. Wheels are strong and take some punishment (still true!) Only gripe are a creaking bar and dropper takes some getting used to ( not as good as my reverb) on my specialised, but YT said I could return if I wanted but to be honest I couldn't be arsed with the hassle and I suppose that's the price you pay not being your local shop, but getting a top bike for £2700 ticks all the boxes I love it, still on the same pads but will be replacing my front soon and rear tyre. Good vid by the way.
I have a 2016 capra CF pro race and have had no issues except the rims. The dt swiss 1200 are very light but I cracked them three times. DT had great customer service and repaired them for free (I payed shipping). However, I wish the bike were spec'd with a more gravity focused rim from the box. I now have a set of grade 300 rims that have help up to similar abuse, if not more. The YT spec for dollar is really where the bike shines. I can easily recommend YT bikes as long as you are comfortable doing your own service or have a LBS who will be happy working on the YT. *disclosure: the DT rims are great for trail/xc or a rider who makes few mistakes. But I ride "freeride stuff" and both the first two cracks were my fault for casing. The third was from a square edge hit in a rock garden but the rim was already weakened from previous cracks.
I’ve had my 2019 Jeffsy AL base since May, been riding the hell out of it and even crash it a few times with no issues, for the bike at least lmao. My first big bike purchase and I’m beyond satisfied
I’ve owned the 2019 YT Jeffsy CF Comp for a little over a month and ~120 miles on the bike. I love the value of the bike. It’s nearly impossible to find a bike for 3k (got it on a sale) with the spec that this bike has. It’s been a riot to ride. I do think I’ll miss not having a LBS to service the bike and talk to in person. With that said - I would definitely still recommend YT. I’ve emailed them 5-6 times with random questions and they have replied within 24 hours which was a huge worry of mine. The bike and company are fantastic in my opinion and the bike absolutely rips!
I have the 18 YT Jeffsy CF 29 and I've actually had zero issues with it. Over a thousand miles on my bike (ascending / descending) and have never had issues with the BB or the headset yet. I did have skipping on my cassette but realized it was user error from a crash that loosened my rear axle. I've been pretty rough on my YT and I plan on sticking with them in the future too. Super stoked about my bike. Customer service has been great but I haven't really come to them with issues such as warrenty things.
Especially in germany!!! They are so rude and sluggish ... Incredible! Even when the founders are from germany! Crash replacements give waiting times over an entire season of possible ridin. next will be a propain or orbea
Ghostina1 Agreed 100% I “have” a Yt 2019 Capra cf pro race and after only two weeks of owning it the clearcoat started to develop some problems, at first it started bubbling and 2 weeks later the whole clear coat started peeling off! I immediately emailed them and after 10 days of waiting I received a reply that said that I needed to provide more photos and videos. I did that and it got approved for warranty. I was told the new frame would come in in 2-3 weeks because they were having issues with the manufacturer in China that needed to be worked out. After a month I received no news so I emailed them AGAIN asking for progress. I was told I would be informed when a new frame would become available. I understood, a month isn’t so bad if you think about it... February goes by, March goes by, April goes by and I start to worry, WHERE IS MY FRAME? The customer care told me not to worry since my issue is ONLY esthetic and does not influence the riding experience. I one again understood and agreed, there are worse problems than a peeling clear coat but still, I paid for that clear coat. A few more months go by and in the end of August( 7 months after my initial email) I was told a new frame was available and that I could ship in my disassembled frame for them to swap out for a new one. The day I receive the email I go to my local Dhl office and with the provided shipping label I ship off my frame. 2 weeks go by and the tracking shows nothing! My frame was apparently lost while shipping and currently I AM STILL WAITING for DHL to find the frame or claim it’s loss( a process which was suppose to take 3-4 weeks according to Yt).It is now October the 21st and I still have no frame. Dear Yt I definitely won’t be spending my money with you in the future! Thank god I disassembled the frame fully and still have the components which will soon be transferred to a worthy frame NOT from Yt, they ain’t screwing me again!! Take this with a pinch of salt, I’m not saying this will happen if you buy a YT but be warned that it might happen!
@@themagicillusions if you are able to read german. here are a lot of similar very worse problems with YT www.mtb-news.de/forum/t/umgang-mit-retouren-kundennachbetreuung.903824/#post-16166636 www.mtb-news.de/forum/t/schaltauge-killt-kettenstrebe-capra-29.901294/
Ghostina1 I do speak German actually😄 absolutely insane what these guys at YT get away with. The sad thing is that they used to treat customers so nicely 2 years ago. The new business they have is so big they can’t keep up with the customers.
@@themagicillusions omg im sorry that happened, id be more than unpatient.. there are many things with worth gone "lost" when in the hands of a DHLworker. unfortunately..
Thanks for the honest, no hype review. The New YT Izzo got my attention and I was curious to hear from a YT owner on durability. I currently run a 27.5 wheeled Intense Recluse. I've been very happy with it for the past 3 seasons, been eying up the Sniper Trail with 29" wheels, and am looking to make a decision today, so your review helped!
@@rickyhill5263 I have not. I decided I needed a little more travel for my areas I ride in and went with a Santa Cruz Hightower CS. I LOVE this bike, but probably would have loved the Izzo!! Good luck on your decision!
@@barrylopatic8543 Pulled the trigger on the YT Izzo pro race today, for UK trails it looks bang on. Value is outstanding in comparison. Enjoy your SC.🤟👊
7:16 I have had the same problem, you just need to put as much air pressure in the dropper as possible and while doing that check that there is no air leaking from the pump or the valve and then it should be good
Same here, at first. (PNW Loam dropper & lever). Fixed seat clamp torque but noticed the incremental height adjustment ring can also get too tight if you ham fist it. Easy adjustment. The big one with them is that with any moisture and lots of usage the seal does its job almost too well wiping the post clean of any lubrication. I clean it regularly and wipe it down with light machine oil (wipe on/wipe off) and even with lower PSI it will come up and scramble your eggs. I really think the biggest thing is keeping the post clean and lubricated.
This is actually so helpful, I have a 2019 YT Capra AL COMP, and am suspicious of the bottom bracket. (Granted, I have destroyed a left crank on every single bike I've ever owned, so it could be me). Good to know that the headset is something to look out for in the future. My Capra has the Fox 36 Performance Elite fork and Fox Float X2 (not factory) rear shock, so I'm interested to see how long they last in comparison. My frame is also Aluminum, but I almost prefer it because I don't have to worry about cracking or chipping it, just dents and bends. My Capra was sent to me with a very bent front brake rotor, which was clearly damaged in shipping when looking at the box. However, I sent an email to YT, sent some pictures, and 5 days later had a new rotor (It would have been quicker if they hadn't just ran out of stock). Granted I live in NorCal, just 7 hours from their San Clemente HQ. So far, I love my Capra! (PS. I talked to Austin from the San Clemente HQ about the brake rotor, he was super nice and very helpful!)
I have a 2018 Capra CF pro race and no issues so far. I replaced the e-13 tires right away due to preference and just had to replace the chain. I ride mostly in the dry and have owned it since March of 2018.
VanCan I have not seen one video on TH-cam that describes the capability of climbing for the Capra. Please make a video on its ability to climb and it’s right ability for a long time periods. I live in Utah and a lot of our trails are uphill for an hour or two. Thank you so much, and keep up the good content
My biggest fear with Direct is the lack of customer service that I have *anecdotally* heard to be far less than stellar from direct-to-consumer companies such as YT. Ultimately I value the ability to talk to someone local when there are issues and as such I ultimately went with Giant for my recent bike purchase. Good to know you have multiple knowledge bases to keep you riding within an hour's drive!
I WILL TELL THE ONE COMPANY TO STAY AWAY FROM, "CANYON!!!!!" I WENT THROUGH A NIGHTMARISH H3LL WITH MY DELIVER, THERE IS BASICALLY "NO" CUSTOMER SERVICE WHAT SO-EVER. DELIEVER CAME BASICALLY BOXED ALL STAPLE PULLED ALL TAKE PULLED RETAPED, RETAPED, BROKE, RETAPED, BOX BAISCALLY DESTROYED, CANYON BLAMED FEDEX, BUT IT STARTE BEFORE AT WAREHOUSE. CANYON AS A COMPANY SUCKS. CUSTOMER SERVICE DIDN'T RESPOND AFTER A WEEK I CALLED, EXPLAIN, PERDRO WHO COULDN'T SPEAK ENGLISH, SENT ME A LABEL. SHIPPING MANAGER CALLED ME A WEEK LATER, AND SAID HIS SHOP DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG. DIDN'T OFFER A THING. I SENT BACK AFTER REBOXING WITH A DESTROYED BOX, BUT I SHIPPED IT BACK BETTER THAN THEY DID. CANYON DIDN'T REACH OUT TO ME PERSONALLY. ALL EMAILS, A BUNCH OF COWARDS. DON'T BE FOOLED. BY CANYON. GO YT, JENSONUSA, CHAINREAACTION, BACK COUNTRY, SPECIALIZED, KONA, VENDORS I HAVE USED THAT CARE.
Got my Jeffsy AL Comp 2017, rides fine till this day. Im very impressed by the performance considering the fair pricepoint. Next one will be a Capra CF
I own a YT Jeffsy 29 CF PRO for over a year now. - The RaceFace bottom bracket was rattling after 4 month. Early wearout of ball bearings. - bad true running of new ethirteen wheels. After reworking them now they are stable. - short cutted fork head tube. The bike front is too low fow me. I have to ride higher pressure in fork than i like. - high damping sticky tires. Good for grip, but high rolling resistance. - flaked off lacquer on rear stay near tire. - Fox 34 fork was almost dry inside, bad responding behavior. After filling in lubrication oil now it is working well. That was very unusual for a Fox product. I think the YT Jeffy ist a good product and overall I'm happy with it. An improvement is still possible.
I ride a 2018 Capra CF Pro. A lot of the 3M tape pealed off in the first few weeks. Chainstay guard as well. Not even an answer from YT. Mechanically the bike is awesome and it rides like a beast.
I had a YT Tues AL, which I sold to get myself an enduro bike. That Tues' frame bearings wore out super fast, and the rockshox boxxer needed service more than I'd like. I found the paint rubbed off really easily, and the whole bike generally had this feel of bombproof but fast wearing. Hard to describe but sortof like an old truck: you feel like it will outlive you, but the parts on it can fall apart if you look at them the wrong way.
@@VanCan it WAS a 2015 Tues, maybe things have changed since then... All I know is I had to service it about twice as much as my current Knolly Warden AL... Which was ok because I was learning to be a mechanic but still.....
On a very similar 2018 Jeffsy (almost same components except rear shock), problems I had were with the dropper post (did not get up totally even after a full service rebuild and greasing), and the TRS cassette which was crap: generation 1 were cranky, generation 2 were "sliding" off the hub (sad when you are 30km away from home, and have no chain whip in your toolkit, but who have one!), so I changed it with an eagle GX, no problem anymore! And the TRS tires were kind of "grip grip grip whoooshhhh", replaced them relatively fast. Changed BB bearing and headset bottom bearing with better ones after 6 month. Rest of the stuff is bulletproof on this bike!
I recently purchased a 2019 capra 29 cf pro. Just about the same build as yours, except for the GX drivetrain and Truvativ descendant crankset. I'm very happy with it.
I have had the 2018 Capra AL for about a year now as well. Everything is running fine with mine and had no issues. Only thing I had was a slow ethirteen dropper after a muddy ride but after a quick clean and triflow application its been fine ever since.
Thank you for the info! I like YT and I have been told they use junk components, however I am familiar with components and so I disagree. Then a bike shop owner told me they don’t last, which I also disagree. Great review 👍
I did all the warranty stuff for my wife's Canyon through our local Trek store. They contacted Canyon, replaced the fork, easy peazy. I didn't have to do anything, and we got an upgraded damper our of it.
I've got a YT Jeffsy 2018 CF Pro, love the bike on any and every terrain, including bike parks. But found that the bearings for the suspension and the BB bearing completely seized after a year, only 3 spins in the rain!! The E13 cassette wore out in a year, made my chain skip and has been replaced with a heavier but half the price Shimano cassette. I can't say their customer service is bad, they've been very helpful with me. Mostly they'd refer me to E13, who have good service too. E13 wheels I have to agree, they're pretty darn amazing. Maybe the next YT will be a Jeffsy? It's an amazing all rounder bike :)
Absolutely love my Capra cf pro 2019, but it came with a bent front disc rotor out of the box. Took two weeks and 3 calls to customer services to actually get the rotor sent out, after they had already said they'd send one "the next day"...
i am from Germany and ive owned several YT Bikes .. Generations of the TUES .. a Wicked enduro .. and than they developed the capra i bought .. the point is.. YT gets bigger and bigger and global and thats the thing they ve to manage better .. when things get bigger and bigger you ve to invest more to infrastructure and customer service ! YT BIKES ARE GREAT BIKES
I also have a PNW dropper and also experienced a bit of binding at the top, turned out to be my seat post clamp was to tight. I tightened it to spec but had to loosen it a bit for proper extension of my post. Give it a try!
Same here, at first. (PNW Loam dropper & lever). Fixed seat clamp torque but noticed the incremental height adjustment ring can also get too tight if you have fist it. Easy adjustment. The big one with them is that with any moisture and lots of usage the seal does its job almost too well wiping the post clean of any lubrication. I have a 2019 YT Capra AL Base and I’ve loved it. I did change the bars to 40mm rise because the low stem height drove me crazy and killed my back. Otherwise I haven’t really changed anything other than personalizing it, (grips, pedals for color choice and rear tire to an Assegai as well). Oh I did hate that YT seat though, love my WTB Volt. But I’m glad at least someone out there has no problem with that stock saddle lol
I have had frame bearings for 5 years and I decided to have them changed. All of them had nice firm rotation. Since now I will never change my bearings unless there is actually a problem with any of them..
Have a 2019 Jeffsy cf which is great only issue is some play on the dropper post. Quick look round the forums apparently all e thirteen post move side to side. Also need to keep it clean and lubed to ensure full extension but crappy English weather doesn't help.
Only thing I’ve had a problem with on my Jeffsy was the E13 dropper. A couple of emails back and forth to E13 and they replaced the whole thing without any trouble. I ended up putting a One Up 170 mm dropper and have the new E13 as a spare now.
I have had a number of YT bikes through my work shop, I must the ones I have worked on have all had build problems. My customers have also always had problems with customer service
I have two 2019 YT bikes and my girlfriend also one. The bikes are awesome and ride super well. No complaints here. I did crack my chain stay on the Capra AL in a crash and although I was expecting to pay for the part they did swap it under warranty for me though. So all good there. It did however take longer than I would have liked and they barely communicate. No status updates, no notification about shipping....and this is in Germany. I do think that they are still a pretty small company and their CS seems understaffed to me. I do believe that they are aware of these problems. In their defense I also have to say that in that crash I also cracked my ethirteen rim and they took almost as long to get me a replacement rim. Is this maybe a bike industry thing? I have experienced longer waiting times with shops ordering replacement parts for non direct to consumer brands as well so I doubt that I would have been dealt with much quicker with any other bike. So would I buy a YT again? Hell yeah! Awesome bikes! Awesome components, reasonable price. In the end no matter what you buy (bikes, headphones, computers, audio gear, whatever) if you really want zero down time your only option is to have a spare for everything so that if something brakes you can rely on that while your main piece of equipment is out for repair or being replaced.
The supplye chain is a joke in the mtb industry. If you crack a frame you wont get a new one immediatly usuay because the manufactures dont have them in stock lol
I've been waiting on a new chain stay for over two months. The impact was so light it shouldn't have cracked in the first place but shit happens. What isnt ok is that after two months i still have zero idea when the part will arrive. i contact YT weekly at this stage. Not once throughout this process have they initiated contact in regards to an update on my replacement part. If its going to be three months just bloody tell me and at least i'm not let down every week by knowing nothing. Seriously contemplating selling my bike as soon as it is finally repaired just so i dont have to deal with it ever again. Such a shame as its a great bike but not worth the kind of hassle I've had over the last few months. Also came with a buggered rear shock out of the box which thankfully was sorted in just a few weeks.
I also discovered a frame crack on the chain stay on my YT Capra AL. I had to wait more than 3 months for a new one. I'm happy that they decided to change it for free but they definitely have to work on their service time... The service guys on the phone were very nice and friendly and when i asked them some weeks later how long it will to get that new chain stay they responded very quick. I think that chain stay is supposed to break/crack because i've heard that this happens to a lot of the Capra AL versions... I dont regret buying this bike cause it feels so awesome to ride and it's definitely worth the price. Of course the service could be better but I'm sure they'll work on that.
MTB Bliss on the 19' Jeffsy CF Pro. Everything I've learned over the past 5-years about geometry / suspension has gone "out the window." Never been more capable on Arizona trails. Living uncaged.
i own a canyon bike which also get manufactured in germany. i focused on getting an allrounder as the capra doesnt pedal uphill that well. so i got a canyon spectral over the yt jeffsy.
The reason they cut the head tube down is because of the warranty and their insurance. If you alter anything on the bike your yt warranty is void and for their liability insurance they sell the bikes in these particular specs. I asked them about changing the stem for a shorter one from factory but they won't do it for insurance reasons and they warned me that changing it myself will definitely void the warranty. Be warned. Realistically something like that would be difficult to prove but good to be aware of if you return the bike to them!
I have 2 YTs. Had to replace the headset bearings and BB on my 2017 jeffsy A1. Not a complaint, it was used heavily. On my 2019 capra CF Pro my BB wore out quickly and was replaced. I have had a heck of a time with creaking from the ethriteen split cassette. I'm going to have to say it's my biggest complaint. They put to different metal pieces together. One part is steel and the other is aluminum. The steel part of the cassette wore out the aluminum in a fewmonths. This created too much tolerance between the interfacing metals surfaces. I have to do my own "hack" to deal with it for now involving some liquid tape. (actually seems to work great). I thinking of replacing the drive train for and eagle.
Derailleurs are the first thing I’m liable to tear off. I’ve had the SLX m7000 for a year, and aside from needing some loctite on the clutch adjustment bolt, it’s been flawless. I’d rather put the extra money in something like a shifter or brakes.
You should try out Nukeproof Horizon Sam Hill pedals. I have ridden mine two days a week year round for four years without service, and they're still running smooth. This is in Denmark wich means not many rock strikes but lots of rain and mud.
I really liked my ethirteen carbon TSR wheels but they were a bit too heavy for my type of terrain (S FL). They would be perfect for more aggressive terrain such as Canada and Colorado where you need more sturdy wheels. I also had the matching TSR tires which are more geared for DH/aggressive terrain
From what I understand, the long-distance customer service just isn't worth the pain when things go wrong. When I buy a bike from my local shop there's a year's worth of service included. Any part failure and it's replaced or fixed by the next day. A major failure like a frame and they'd probably have a spare one for me to ride, and all the labour of shipping it off is on them. From the comments on here and the video it seems pretty reasonable to expect something to fail within that first year. The YT bike might be a bit cheaper up front, but riding time is crucial to me. I work full-time at a good paying job, I'll pay a little extra so I won't miss a month or more of riding, or the hassle. MTB for me is to relax and unwind, not something that stresses me out.
I had some simular findings with my YT Jeffsy... Had to replace the headset and BB after a year. Also didn’t like the short steerer tube. The only problem you didn’t mention which I experienced was the E13 TRS tires are not for everyone so I replaced those. I also switched to the XT 11-46 cassette because it works better than the TRS+ cassette. Overall: Great bike! Great price! If you’re a home mechanic, why wouldn’t you buy direct to consumer? You’re inevitably going to tinker with your bike anyway #WinWin
I love my 2019 Capra CF Pro... However, my e13 dropper post ejected out of my frame when I was on a bumpy dirt road!!! e13 was great to replace it, but I won't put the new dropper on my bike. That is the only complaint I have about the bike.
Yes. To clarify, the bike was on my trucks bike rack and I was driving on a bumpy road. My friend in the vehicle behind me watched it happen. He stopped and picked it up, but it was broken. E13 did replace it for free, but I didn't put the replacement on my bike.
The cassette on my Tues fell apart after about 40-60 hours. The date had expired on the warranty (I have a Capra I ride alot), but after a couple of emails and some pictures, they shipped me a new cassette at no cost (ethirteen warrantied the part, not YT). The cassette failed far too quickly, but ethirteen's customer service was second to none.
Have a 2019 Capra Al Base 27.5 and a Yet SB-130. Would have bought the Jeffsy if YT had a similar frame warranty on Carbon as Yeti does. The Rockshox Lyric is awesome, and the super Deluxe is great also. Really it’s between Commecal and YT for the budget Enduro rigs. Can’t go wrong with either.
When talking about suspension you mentioned comments from haters (which at this point there isn’t any). Whether it’s suspension or any other components it comes down to the best are the ones that work for you. There are a lot of good components these days from a lot of companies. Suspension wise I have fox on my enduro bike and rockshox on my trail bike and love them both for their different applications. I have shimano brakes on one of them and sram brakes on the other, again love them both for their different intended uses. If riders are true riders they understand that the absolute best parts are the parts that work for them.
I bought a YT Decoy (My first YT) this year and discovered it's possible to love and hate something all at the same time. Got it a month late. Headset was messed up. The Di2 shifter did not work with the E-13 cassette. Spent another month of my summer waiting for a new derailleur hanger so I could change the drivetrain out to something that actually functioned. My LBS had my bike about two weeks longer than I did this summer. There were other little things that went wrong that I will add to this comment as I remember them. On the love side of things, the bike is gorgeous and such a blast to ride. I think the best way to prepare yourself psychologically for owning a YT is to remember that it's German. Just like with an Audi or a Porsche (I've never owned one, but based on friends' experiences) you will love the look and feel and performance, but you will at some point cycle through your entire catalog of profanity dealing with it. Cheers from AZ.
1. Love the simplicity of the video - does it work? did it break? does it look good? Sweet. And, 2. I see you still have your EWS sticker on there... I finally caved and got it all removed with a fingernail and a drop of chain lube.
I got the 2019 Capra alloy 27.5 absolutely love it the only thing I replaced was bar and stem just to suit my liking nothing wrong with stock. I ride the rugged north East USA and the more hell I put the bike through the more it wants. I never even had to tighten a single spoke or mess with anything. I usually stick with Santa Cruz or intense I got a bullit and Uzi and they been collecting dust ever since the YT box arrived at the front door.
Great Clip! I'm looking into a Capra 29er as my next all trail/ mountain /free ride bike! With that being said I do a lot of climbing so I can do a lot of the fun DH stuff! How does it climb? I know its not an XC bike, i'm already on a 150mm travel F/R 650b that climbs pretty good. Hoping not to give to much of that up with a more aggressive bike like the Capra. Thanks
2018 Capra Pro CF but built to Pro! F####### love this Bike! I've had a few issues with YT but they took care Warranty issues within a weeks time. YT changes Capra 2020 With Water bottle holder and leaves stem tube longer I'll order one tomorrow.. We'll see!
I have had my 29 CF Jeffsy for 3 months and so far so good. Chain did break on 3rd ride (clutch was off) YT sent a new one. The e-thirteen dropper is to slow.
do i understand correctly that you have DH casing Assegai's as well as cush core? wow, that's serious tireage. you have got to feel that much mass when riding though eh? were you destroying rims or tires before going full on DH race style?
hey mate. i am considering in buying a YT capra cf pro race 2017 used or a new YT jeffsy or capra CF , the used one is 1000 dollars less and uses fox factory forks and rear shock, what is ur opinion ?
I own a 2017 YT Capra and had a bad crash last year which caused a crack in my rear chainstay. It took YT over 8 weeks just to simply give me a quote on how much a crash replacement would be 🤦🏼♂️
You look like just a regular dude and then next minute you be like “ Mmmm I’m gonna check out the pro line at Whistler there’s a big jump followed by another huge jump “ Awesome rider dude amazing skills 👍🏽👍🏽🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾✅✅✅Ride on
My friend had a yt tues cf pro 2018 and his bottom bracket started squeaking after 2 monts. Then his x2 started squeaking so he sent it to yt. After one month it came back and still was squeaking. Now his TRP brake started leaking out of the lever☹️.
Currently I am trying to decide between and Capra PR 27, a Nomad V4 and an Enduro 29... I'm a little short, and ride similar trails to you. Whats your opinion?
I bought a 2019 YT Capra Al Comp 29er a little over 2 months ago and i love the bike but ever since i got it came with slight details like a visible scratch in the front of the handlebar right out of the box (which i ended up covering with a perm. marker...) and it wasn't just like the plug and play experience they say it is after you adjust your suspension, cockpit and put on the wheels. I had to take it to the local shop to get the derailleur adjusted and even still the cassette seems to be giving me issues with shifting on the last 2 gears b/c we tried a shimano cassette and no problems with shifting... I was going to call E13 for the warranty and stuff like that but i just wanted to ride and, it didn't come tubeless ready... On the first couple rides i started noticing the creaks which are annoying AF and i don't think you should be dealing with all this Sh&% when you paid for a new bike and like i said i love the bike even after all this BS and i'm just going to keep on riding it because i know even if it didn't come with problems like this the bike is going to end up getting new components and needs maintenance.
I have trails near me with 1-2 minute descents and the occasional 4-5 minute descent. is this bike going to be good for me? there is quite a bit of climbing involved in my trail system but, I can take a fire road to the top.
For that kind of trails i would go for a more oriented trail bike like the Jeffsy or Izzo from YT. If you plan going to mountain or more technical trails, than the Capra is excellent.
@@nta2267 I have a bike park an hour away from me that I will visit freqeuntly in the future. I forgot to mention that. before I found out about the bike park, I was saving for a canyon strive
@@fishyman1114 Then.. go for the Capra. I am also looking for an Enduro bike as im planning to go to mountain trails and to bike parks. Im tired of XC light trails on my XC 😅. And now the Strive isnt an option for you anymore as it is a 29er? The thing is if you want more stability and confidence i reckon a 29er bike is better. I now have found a super good deal on the top model Capra from 2019, but its a 29er and i am going to try it, even if I was looking for a 27.5 more playful bike. If im going to be fast and stable, but can also jump(even if it is a bit harder) thats ok for me.
@Nadav Gil so i actually ended up buying the 29er Capra Pro Race i mentioned earlier. I really liked the feel of the bike, big, stable and even if i am not a big skilled jumper, i jumped quite a few medium jumps. I think there is a 8 mm difference between the 29er and 27.5 chainstay. Even if i am between M and L and i bought an L and its also a 29er, because im pretty muscular i can handle the bike with ease. I don't really know what to say... i also wanted a 27.5 bike to do maybe big jumps but its not my style and i like the stable and planted feel of a 29er more. In the end it depends on your style of riding. I have read too that the Capras are not the best bikes for jumping, especially the 29ers, but regardless of that... i really recomand the 29 inch wheels and i know a few people who shred bike parks and they all ride 29ers. And maybe look at a Nukeproof Mega 275? If you want 27.5 and a jump oriented bike.
@Nadav Gil oh and i am still "tuning" the suspension for my style of riding, but all in all it feels amazing. And on the top model with all the tuning capacity of the grip 2 on the fork and the low-high speed rebound and compression settings on the shock i cant say its too "soft".
Bars can make a difference to the ride comfort and I'm quite picky personally. I've got a pair of One up pedals and I've serviced them 2-3 times in 2 years and they are still fine and still on original bearings (I think).. so it's you. Personally I prefer XT over SLX the shifter is better and it's not that much more expensive but the latter gets the job done good enough. For me and brakes its how good the modulation is and most popular modern brakes are good enough IMO. Poor performance from the Dropper post though, I've had and got a few different ones with my favourite being the Fox Transfer but I've also got a BrandX that gets the job done at a fraction of the cost.. I'm not keen on the speed of it but it works well otherwise though I always replace the lever for a Wolftooth. I got my first bike after 20 years fox exclusive with Rockshox on last year and agree I was massively impressed with the Lyric and SD Shock... I'm a convert. I find my Fox shocks a tiny bit easier to service personally.. but that's due to the many years servicing them however I found the SD RC3 Shock easier to dial in than say a Fox DPX2.
I have the YT Capra AL and my only regret is that I didn't get carbon frame. The aluminum frame's paint/ overall aesthetic isn't as nice as the carbon and looking back I would have just bucked up as this is a pretty large investment already. FUCKING LOVE THE BIKE OTHERWISE AND WOULD RECOMMEND!
@@VanCan I ordered my Capra the day before the LTD came out, but didn't have enough money to switch unfortunately! I think if I get another YT I'm gonna gun for the newest LTD!

with them cutting the steerer to short are you able to run a higher rise bar to counter it? or have you just adapted to the YT determined riding position?

Yeah! Exactly what I tought!
Yes I have an big complain about yt capra and this one is that I don't own one
Yes saaaammmee
@Mattys Garage haha good luck man, i hope you get one!
Same here... Smh.
@Matt Griffin you saved up yet?
@Matt Griffin why’s that
I got the CF PRO Race 29 Capra in August and so far have had zero complaints mechanically, but I do have a positive story about my customer service experience.
Good to hear!
Congrats!
bikes are all pretty great these days and it's the small details that makes them different. It can be hard to complain about them!
Sweet Vids!
This bike has made me a more confident rider and fits me so much better than my previous bikes
(2015 Nomad, 2014 V10, 2007 VPfree, 2001 Bullet)
YT service & communication has been pretty good. I’ve had no issues with the frame, just components they selected
Here are the fixes and changes I’ve done on 2019 Capra PR after six months - (6’3” 225lbs shore rider)
• Replaced the tires in the first month as I was not confidant on the e*13
• Changed the grips to Squarewave XL for my big mitts
• Fox 150mm dropper to a One-up 210mm
• Trailmaster DT swap on the saddle as it’s a bit comfier
• 32t to a 28t in the front and 10-50 on the rear… now she climbs!
• The Adaptive Preload Adjuster thing on the e*thirteen cranks lasted a few weeks so I shimmed it
• The Raceface pedals were a deal but the right one flew off the spindle a few times till I used lock tight, then the bearings went, and I warrantied them
• The headset bearing went - YT sent a new one
• The BB is gone but I haven’t changed it yet
• The e*13 chain guide is weak and I glued it together - but its not great
• I’ve popped 4 rear spokes and then rebuilt it with all straight gauge spokes now
• The rear hub has come loose twice - and it too loud (I added grease, way quieter)
• The bond from stanchion to crown failed - replaced under warranty and got to cut my own steer tube height
I just Installed A 150Pike On My Rocky And It's AMAZING I See Why Everyone LOVES IT 😎 Definitely Improving My Riding Proper Fork .
I’ve had two YT’s and I have to say, they’re really good bikes but here in Europe they have some terrible customer service!
Especially in germany!!! They are so rude and sluggish ... Incredible! Even when the founders are from germany! Crash replacements give waiting times over an entire season of possible ridin. next will be a propain or orbea

Agreed 100% I “have” a Yt 2019 Capra cf pro race and after only two weeks of owning it the clearcoat started to develop some problems, at first it started bubbling and 2 weeks later the whole clear coat started peeling off!

Have you bought an Izzo yet? my finger is hovering over the order button. Would love to know if you have and what your thoughts are.
@@rickyhill5263 I have not. I decided I needed a little more travel for my areas I ride in and went with a Santa Cruz Hightower CS. I LOVE this bike, but probably would have loved the Izzo!! Good luck on your decision!

@@rickyhill5263 Awesome....enjoy!! Let us know how you like it, what it is good at and if it has any limitations.
Thank you for the video. I know this isn’t a recent creation, but I still really appreciate the content.
2 x Capra owner here, 2017 AL Comp and a 2018 LTD 27.5. Same problem on both, bottom bracket issues, replaced and its gucci!
I have a 2018 Capra CF pro race and no issues so far. I replaced the e-13 tires right away due to preference and just had to replace the chain. I ride mostly in the dry and have owned it since March of 2018.
Nice!
VanCan I have not seen one video on TH-cam that describes the capability of climbing for the Capra. Please make a video on its ability to climb and it’s right ability for a long time periods. I live in Utah and a lot of our trails are uphill for an hour or two. Thank you so much, and keep up the good content
Hey, Edward Norton does great bike reviews.

I mean most of your complaints have nothing to do with YT themselves...
I ride a 2018 Capra CF Pro. A lot of the 3M tape pealed off in the first few weeks. Chainstay guard as well. Not even an answer from YT. Mechanically the bike is awesome and it rides like a beast.
Proud owner of a Capra.
Interesting! My new Tues CF Pro seems to be going strong.
@@VanCan it WAS a 2015 Tues, maybe things have changed since then... All I know is I had to service it about twice as much as my current Knolly Warden AL... Which was ok because I was learning to be a mechanic but still.....
Ed Norton called, he wants his YT back.
Solid update review!
👍🏽
I loved you in fight club.
I recently purchased a 2019 capra 29 cf pro. Just about the same build as yours, except for the GX drivetrain and Truvativ descendant crankset. I'm very happy with it.
Is the bike good for climbing, be honest ?? Lol
@@dev_IL666 no
I have had the 2018 Capra AL for about a year now as well. Everything is running fine with mine and had no issues. Only thing I had was a slow ethirteen dropper after a muddy ride but after a quick clean and triflow application its been fine ever since.
Nice!
I love the no BS approach to bike components.
The BB and headset on mine went fast.
@@VanCan Not sure if that was the same BB, mines a press fit and now sports hope BB. That said, it went quick here too.
Absolutely love my Capra cf pro 2019, but it came with a bent front disc rotor out of the box.
Took two weeks and 3 calls to customer services to actually get the rotor sent out, after they had already said they'd send one "the next day"...

I also have a PNW dropper and also experienced a bit of binding at the top, turned out to be my seat post clamp was to tight. I tightened it to spec but had to loosen it a bit for proper extension of my post. Give it a try!

Also service has been outstanding, bike arrived with a bent rotor and YT overnighted me a new one and fresh pads!
My KS E20 dropper moves side to side a little bit too. The post works fine so I don't worry about it.
I’m pretty sure that play isn’t limited to e thirteens. Ks droppers have play, specialized droppers have play, and several others.
Well said!
Freaking love how succinct and to the point you are!!! TY
Bought a '18 Capra al base on close out first of the year. Loved it soo much I bought a '19 Tues 3 months ago and it is sick.
I have a tues and haven’t replaced the bearings in 2 years 😂 they need replacing but I’m happy it’s lasted this long
MTB Bliss on the 19' Jeffsy CF Pro.
Canyon is not made in Germany
@@southpawlibranine3511 they're a German company. Their headquarters are there as well. Check Wikipedia.
@@realNAKAMI I know but it's made in taiwan
I’m still putting the miles on my 2015 Capra. Only thing I’ve had to do was light maintenance.
You and gmbn do the best bike reviews
The reason they cut the head tube down is because of the warranty and their insurance. If you alter anything on the bike your yt warranty is void and for their liability insurance they sell the bikes in these particular specs. I asked them about changing the stem for a shorter one from factory but they won't do it for insurance reasons and they warned me that changing it myself will definitely void the warranty. Be warned.
Realistically something like that would be difficult to prove but good to be aware of if you return the bike to them!
Love your videos man. Keep it up!
Thanks!
Do you think the yt capra 2017 is any good?
Derailleurs are the first thing I’m liable to tear off. I’ve had the SLX m7000 for a year, and aside from needing some loctite on the clutch adjustment bolt, it’s been flawless. I’d rather put the extra money in something like a shifter or brakes.
Agreed!
You should try out Nukeproof Horizon Sam Hill pedals. I have ridden mine two days a week year round for four years without service, and they're still running smooth. This is in Denmark wich means not many rock strikes but lots of rain and mud.
I'll take a look!
I loved watching this. Nice bike collection buddy :D fair play 😊
Amazing,once again 👏🏻
Thanks!
YT Capra Super enduro bike
Long travel shock absorbers (180/180), more only on Downhill bikes
I was looking into YT but then I found the commencal clash ride 2020 and I’m considering that bike now
Great in detail review man. Subbed
Thanks!
I love my 2019 Capra CF Pro... However, my e13 dropper post ejected out of my frame when I was on a bumpy dirt road!!! e13 was great to replace it, but I won't put the new dropper on my bike. That is the only complaint I have about the bike.
the dropper shot out like a rocket?
Yes. To clarify, the bike was on my trucks bike rack and I was driving on a bumpy road. My friend in the vehicle behind me watched it happen. He stopped and picked it up, but it was broken. E13 did replace it for free, but I didn't put the replacement on my bike.
@@gnarlee4250 thats a crazy story. Thanks for sharing.
Agreed!
Tom Cruise and Ed Norton had a baby......and he rides a YT capra :P
lol. Nice review.
Ya haha, they're so sticky! ... and I'm lazy
Ive only serviced my pedals once in my 2year ownership 😳, should they be serviced more often? seals and bearings seem fine
Thanks
It rides really well, but it only
Climbs okay and no water bottle cage is annoying
2018 Capra Pro CF but built to Pro! F####### love this Bike! I've had a few issues with YT but they took care Warranty issues within a weeks time. YT changes Capra 2020 With Water bottle holder and leaves stem tube longer I'll order one tomorrow.. We'll see!
What about the rear hub? Heard no mention regarding engagement and power transfer. Otherwise fun review!
I knew I forgot something!
I like the hubs, good engagement and good bearing warranty from E13.
I put on those tires for the EWS that’s all
hey mate. i am considering in buying a YT capra cf pro race 2017 used or a new YT jeffsy or capra CF , the used one is 1000 dollars less and uses fox factory forks and rear shock, what is ur opinion ?
My 2014 Tues is still going strong.
I own a 2017 YT Capra and had a bad crash last year which caused a crack in my rear chainstay. It took YT over 8 weeks just to simply give me a quote on how much a crash replacement would be 🤦🏼♂️
Digging the classical!
Your opinion about the capra shred my friend??
What do you think about canyon?
they have some dope bikes
They're nice, never been on one though!
Hard to say! Try them if you can
I bought a 2019 YT Capra Al Comp 29er a little over 2 months ago and i love the bike but ever since i got it came with slight details like a visible scratch in the front of the handlebar right out of the box (which i ended up covering with a perm. marker...) and it wasn't just like the plug and play experience they say it is after you adjust your suspension, cockpit and put on the wheels.
My 2018 Capra is still tight. Paint job sucks though.
I do find the carbon frames look nicer. Although that raw carpa they put out is sick!
@@VanCan I ordered my Capra the day before the LTD came out, but didn't have enough money to switch unfortunately! I think if I get another YT I'm gonna gun for the newest LTD!
Hey there, i do know you hav a Specialliized now but do you rember how long it took from when you ordered to when u go the bike thanka like 1 week or like 3 weeks thanka!
About a week
Love this video! "it worked its good"
with them cutting the steerer to short are you able to run a higher rise bar to counter it? or have you just adapted to the YT determined riding position?
I just got used to it
yes, cutting the steerer tube so short is a real pain. i increased the fork travel on my jeffsy by 10mm so also lifted the bars.
well its a roll of the dice... you save money... but you could be inconvenienced. i think it depends on where you are at working on bikes.
