My 3 yr old niece passed away the Tuesday after this song. We drove to the hospital to this song playing on triple J not knowing if she would make it. She loved yellow, Emma the yellow wiggle and her mum. I listen to this daily, she was Wakka Wakka. Her spirit - you know we love her so 💕
@@tacituskilgore8012 I’m not indigenous, just from the NT and it has the same effect on me. Maybe I need to see a shrink too…or maybe you don’t connect much with anything in your life :)
This is bang on what a cover should be. Not just an identical cover, but creating something entirely artistically new while retaining the basics of the original. Not to sound like a douche but this is art!
The band is great but need to ditch the singer, his voice is flat and out of tune. He is no Gurrumul. It’s a shame there are so many people out there with a hearing deficit. Seriously people.
First few minutes of this cover makes me cry every time. This was my introduction to King Stingray and now I’m super excited for the rest of their album to drop.
Old mate just slayed banjo, bass and backing vocals no worries. The lead vocals have such a different timbre to Coldplay but executed so fucking well. And all the harmonies are there on guitars and vox.. so good!
In an era where everyone is trying to sound like someone else, this is soo authentic and genuine. Amazing cover. The lead singer has potential to be an all time great frontman if he stays true to himself.
if there was ever a marriage between Good tingling feels + proud Australian culture + raw talent = this would be it. Incredibly emotional and inspiring.
These guys just opened for midnight oils second last show in Canberra and honestly, midnight oil are legendary there's no question, but I was shocked at how amazing these guys and their indigenous funky rock sound are. They rocked everyones socks off live! And yet I never knew they could be this soft and touching too! Will definitely be following them, would love to see them live again!
One of my favourite Like A Version's ever! His voice is stunning and it's an incredible interpretation of the song. I loved the beginning and the end. Just amazing!
First time I'm heard this I was in Busselton, Western Australia sitting amongst the Ghost Tree's while the Sun was Rising on a Friday Morning... This was actually such a beautiful experience, Just feeling the warmth of the early morning sun and just listening to this was absolute magic.
Me too had it on in the car on the way home from work and it just took me right to a place of mourning for those I’ve lost ! Turned it up and just sang along crying . I’m sure at the lights ppl wondered wtf I was up too Exceptional cover in my opinion❤😢

His voice carries. No mean feat, to stand there and deliver like that. Not an oasis song, but even Liam Gallagher, and his tambourine, would give a subtle nod in appreciation to this, I’m sure of it. This is a coming out party. Channeling a muse with deeper roots than anywhere else on earth. Walking a line of such meek authenticity, it breaks your fucking heart, let’s it scar over, and beat anew. There’s no coming back from this. Not a more awe inspiring, paradoxically expressive monotone has graced the Australian airwaves, any airwaves, in a long time. Thankyou.
I love this cover so much, what I am about to say has nothing really to do with the song but I feel like It might help someone where I was once, I was once someone who looked down on Indigenous Australians I had this image in my head of a people who were lazy and unwilling to change or move forward, not willing to take the opportunities provided to them, oh how stupid and naive I was brainwashed by a narrative that still persists to this day, that this is all there is, or this is the best there is, and what we have now what we have accomplished is what matters, a good job a good education a nice house, big cars, and fancy things, I once had this idea that it was only land taken, Indigenous Australians died but that is just history. by chance, I ended up spending some time in the northern territory and met this lovely Indigenous Australian gentleman, he helped me in more ways than I can express, He opened my eyes to the true nature of our world to a real sense of spirituality that I had never experienced in my life, to disconnect and listen to the resonant sound the sound of the earth as it is a living breathing organism infinite in its wonder, how Indigenous Australians see the land truly changed me and has influenced my life and who I have become their connection, and spirituality to all living things, I realized that everything I had in my life and valued was dead things, and here I was looking down on this man when we first met, we talked a lot I learned what was lost cannot be easily fixed by money by houses cars modern-day civilization "opportunity", as horrible as the genocide was and the stolen generation and the endless cycles of poverty struggle destitution a loss of identity, to have your sense of purpose to have your connection to nature severed and then be told to get over it, for many years for many generations, its more than just land, it is their home, their everything theirs laws and spirituality are intertwined with the land this formed their culture the health and wellbeing of the earth and the land they stood on, the trauma is deeper than I could have ever imagined the struggles they face to pull yourself out of despair and apathy it is not an easy task, and throwing money at a problem and expecting it be to fixed is no way to solve a problem, I am sorry for how I onced perceived a fellow human who was a much better person than I could have ever dreamed of being. This individual once told me that he would like to be respected as a person as valued as a fellow human being, to be looked at by a stranger and think that is a man I can trust, and unfortunately not too many people in Australia would view an Indigenous Australian in that light, I hope I can help change things with you, my old friend.
What a special person to meet; one that would take the time to open your eyes heart and soul. Should we all be so lucky in our lifetime, to be touched by such a person. Thanks for sharing.
I stopped my workout to read this. I’m moved by your story and I thank you. However, I do see an alarming issue with the origins of your enlightenment and newfound appreciation of a group of people. Please correct me if i’m wrong but it seems that meeting one Indigenous person that impressed you and finding out about the Indigenous people’s terrible struggle and that it was worse than you thought are the key or only, reasons that drove you to change your view. In other words, the Indigenous people are suddenly graced by your respect not because you’ve learned that United we win and divided we lose or that you have learned to forgive or that you have learned to give everybody a chance before you hate them but because you’ve now discovered they’ve suffered enough for your liking. This concerns me, sir. I hope you are being good to the people around you, especially other minorities/less lucky ones. That being said, I’m really happy to hear you’ve progressed your soul into a more loving place
One of my favourite LaVs ever too. Truely what LaV is all about! I had goose bumps from start to finish and a huge smile on my face. I love the many meanings behind the choice too. Thanks King Stingray and Tripple J.
Initial impression was it was like an American Idol audition and the singer had only heard the lyrics once or twice. But something hooked me, I can't get enough. Just pure good vibes
Driving home yesterday I heard this performed at Splendour in the Grass via triplej and instant goosebumps, hairs stood up on the back of my neck and tears just streamed from my eyes. I had this incredible emotional music moment. I was like WHO is this!?!?! 💖
Love this all Aussie cover of Yellow that includes the didgeridoo and clap sticks in the ensemble and a wonderful singer , it’s a massive thumbs up 👍🏼 from me.
Went roadtripping through Australia, heard their song Camp Dog on Triple J there and it became the song I associate mostly with my best trip of my life❤️ Love this version of Yellow, keep rocking guys!
WOW! I saw you guys last night on TV at the Opera House and I just had to look this up!! What a credit to all of you. This is what music is all about, taking a great classic song and making it your own. Thank you boys and thank you triple j for giving artists this platform.
These blokes are awesome. We've had the Warrumpi Band, Yothu Yindi, Geoffrey Gurrumil now these blokes. We have some amazing indigenous talent in this country!
first time i hear this song while driving in NT desert, from alice springs to katherine we keep playing this song. it's so good to have such unique vibes song
Goosebumps 💛 I don’t keep up with the JJJs these days but I stumbled across it as the OG was played at my besties funeral a few weeks ago. It’s already an incredible song but this LAV is just ace. Thank you x
I'm from the United States, and when this came on my shuffle I thought it was a country song until I noticed the didgeridoo. The way this band combines instruments, styles, cultures in this cover is so beautiful, and it's deeply moving. This is healing music
I just randomly came across this but I'm so glad I did - they have become one of my top favourite bands, their other music is so good and this cover is amazing!!
What an epic cover! Smashed it out of the park! Can’t believe I was lucky enough to see these guys play live tonight and they rock. What a show 👊 A hi light to an amazing place and trip 🙏
Wow! That was so amazing! Now that's what I call a version, not a cover! Such a great rendition of this classic! I loved the little changes in the melody, they made it so unique.
When the Planets align magic happens. They definitely were on this day!!! Magic! Best version ever and makes me proud to be an Australian seeing two cultures combine to produce this classic.

That hurts my heart man
Funeral song perhaps
Condolences to you and your family 🙏
Love you man
This band has the potential to be really significant in Australian culture. All the best fellas.
They already are 🥰
I think it should be farther than AUS
they are the nephews of yothu yindi, who sung treaty back in 1990
This shook me to the core and made me cry, geez that was sensational. Makes me very proud to be Indigenous 🔴🟡⚫️
Go see a shrink dude
How good aye!

Same here. Hard to describe in words but Yirrŋa’s voice made me cry. Thanks King Stingray for something beautiful
I never knew how good a Banjo and a Didgeridoo sounded together
This is bang on what a cover should be. Not just an identical cover, but creating something entirely artistically new while retaining the basics of the original. Not to sound like a douche but this is art!
Thank you triple j! 💛💛💛
Holy shit you guys have made my day! I've decided I'm not working and just listening to this on repeat 😍😍💖 Thank youuuu
Bloody amazing! Nice work guys
Transcendent!
yall crushed
Turned my whole day around. This is brilliant! Well done
Triple J out here dropping life changing moments like it's no big deal. Pretty sure King Stingray laid down one of the best LAVs of all time.

This guys voice. The way he holds the note at the end of the line . What Aus music has been missing. Unmistakably Australian

💯🥁🔥🔥🔥
This is a cover of a song. Sorry bub
Correct me.if im wrong but its his blood, his gurramals nephew? Apologies for spelling and if im wrong
@@Delgod598I think old mates point is they take a unique sound to the cover. Not generic coked up fitzroy trash like they usually put on LAV
Wouldn't it be nice to say something supportive and complimentary about someone without feeling you had to insult others in the process?

‘Phrasing’? 😬There was no phrasing you idiot. He was just yelling. You have no idea what you’re talking about, just regurgitating a term you heard.
