MUNA did an astonishing cover of 'My Heart Will Go On" and Peach PRC's version of 'Everytime We Touch' deserves an honourable mention, too.
I respect that they stuck with the original lyrics and didn't change them to things like "girl, just come along". A confidence that wouldn't have been present 10-15 years ago.
I remember listening to a male band cover 'I Kissed A Girl' by Katy Perry twelve years ago, and they changed boyfriend to girlfriend, so it became a song about a guy cheating on his girlfriend rather than a woman exploring her sexuality :/
