Im a long time die hard pink floyd fan and I find it hard to love a lot of cover versions. These guys brought so much original floyd flavour, restrained themselves and kept it all close to the originals but still brought their own character. Its a great homage to Pink Floyd and a great display of talent. Lets get some more!
Tom O'Brian is the hero here. He just nails the not so easy to play groove that is Money. It is not in 4/4 but he makes it groove like it is. In. The. Pocket. Tom gives this band it's undeniably perfect groove. So yeah, hats off for Tom!
My mum passed away from breast cancer 9 years ago, but before she passed a core memory of mine as a kid was when we would drive around the town, with all the windows down at 12 in the morning and absolutely blast Pink Floyd, especially Money, it was her favourite song along with Wish You Were Here. The feeling of the cold air on my face and her singing next to me was always so bliss to me. I absolutely loved this Like A version. Thank You.
Yeah three years really did help them to grow. Does help in a way they had plenty of time to do things like this, in Covid probably. But yeah brilliant stuff
What a beautiful series of covers and progresive medolies. Respects the originals but brings some new flare to the songs. The vocals and harmony are spot on too in breathe. I've watched it a few times again already and the lyrics are spot on, I almost cried. There will be some people here who've never heard these songs in their original form, this will be a treat for them now. Bravo. New fan
This was so damn beautiful!!! Much love to triple j for inviting these boys! Of course much love Ocean Alley for their amazing effort and talent right on fellas
I'm one of those fans of Pink Floyd that thinks their music is sacred and extremely difficult for anyones covers to impress me. With that being said, I was pleasantly impressed. This was really really good. This is not a complaint about how you guys did it, but my only wish was I would've liked to hear everyone harmonize the entirety of breathe. The parts you guys did that way sounded spectacular. Great job guys
It's a brave man who covers Pink Floyd, and a braver man yet who tries to make a Pink Floyd song his own. But these guys were a very pleasant surprise; faithful to originals in the production, but with enough of their own swagger and vibe to make it something new as well. Very, very well done!
Got to see them at a bar in Sacramento a couple years back. Maybe 10-20 people in the audience. My brother and I got to sit next to them and talked with the band after the show, great guys and awesome performance. Looking forward to their next west coast tour!
The first cover of Pink Floyd that I actually really like. I always thought it was impossible to get close to the quality of the originals, but you fellas pulled it off. Much respect!
What up Bayden glad to hear the crew still representing good music. 👍 It's not often a band can cover a classic n make it sound like their own with perfect timing. 👌 Hope you make it out to New Mexico someday. Stay safe 🙏n keep us jammin.
@@spacemanOCE yep dsotm only spent about 900+ weeks in the charts, Rolling Stones top 50 best albums of all time. To think the sound they put in ‘73 is also something you gotta take into account. As for a Gilmour wank fest? I’d argue this solo wasn’t gilmour enough. But you’re entitled to your hot take bro
you mean that the descending line in Money is the same as the descending line in Elephant?.. The Wiggles did their little Fruit Salad mashup but they didn’t play the rest of the song any differently, that’s in the original song. Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) is definitely a fan of Floyd so i’m sure it was either a nod to them, or either a conscious/unconscious decision to have it in there.
They're very slightly different. The Pink Floyd one starts on the octave and descends down the minor scale with that flat 2 added in. The Tame Impala one starts from the seventh and descends hitting both a sharp 6and a flat 2. But I'm certain Kevin Parker was inspired by the descending line in Money. Definitely not suable tho imo. Neither of them invented an 8 bar descending scale.
I wouldn’t mind someone performing Another Brick In the Wall for Like a Version. And I don’t mean just part 2, but Part 1, Happiest days of our lives, part 2, part 3 and then Goodbye cruel world.
planning on covering Echoes with my band at some point, but i’m beginning to feel like there’s a reason it’s never been done.. some things just can’t (and shouldn’t) be replicated
I love you guys so much and love Pink Floyd too, Wish You Were Here is a song that reminds me of my beautiful sister who died too young. My only ism is in both songs you all look so unhappy not with the music but with each other. Not an issue really but you’ve always had the best band interaction. ❤️❤️❤️ love to all,
Just found u dudes yesterday, already listened 3 times. This is ur blowup song. You guys sound like Pink Floyd FYI lmao we need rock like this in 2021-90000000
In my opinion it takes massive balls to cover Pink Floyd. These boys certainly pulled it off well 👏
Came to say exactly this.
Let alone a medley!!!
?
Need a crane for those massive balls
Correct.
The Like a Versions have been absolute quality this year.
the wiggles brought me here.
Absolutely. Hayley Mary 😍
Pain (Covid) = Introspection = Great Art

The last few weeks have been great.
Ocean Alley and Pink Floyd? The universe has ALIGNED
but babe , 10000% sure that they got inspired listening Floyd songs
@@jorgec.vasquez5722 haha that was my point, I know they’re inspired by pink Floyd so it’s awesome that they’ve covered their stuff ⭐️👏🏻

They completely captured the vibe of Breathe...
10/10 performance.
YES!
Favourite modern band covering my favourite old school band. Life is bliss
Couldn’t of been said better 🙌🏼
Ditto
mhmm
Could've been said in a vast number of ways but u said it best mate
I absolutely adore Pink Floyd and this version is such a tribute while being original.......Stunning! This band never disappoints xx
Jordan peele’s Australian alter ego is still killing it
thanks alot, I can't not see this now
I think he looks like a blend between prime Ruud Gullit and Jordan Peele yeah
When they switched from Breathe to Comfortably Numb, I ascended.
I kinda descended when they came down to money tho
@@saujan1456 nooo that just brought it up another notch for me!

Why do these guys always kill it? Like they really never miss
Pink Floyd are pretty hard to pull off but you guys absolutely nailed it with this one!
As a 60 year old Floyd addict what a amazing performance - you did them justice. Took me back to live Floyd concert in perth in the 80s. Thankyou
Need a full cover of breathe 👌
heard it on the J's this morning and am now listening through headphones. Top performance guys and a great mix. Top marks to the drummer
I keep forgetting his name but he is very good
Two things stand out with this, you guys are f’ing brilliant and those goddam sandals
never enough sandals
wearing sandals its a form of inspiration
He not rocking socks with sandals -1 for this
the dude abides the rug under the drum kit
Watching your favourite band cover your favourite band is a great experience. Money really compliments Alley’s style, loved it!
These boys better play this at bluesfest in a few weeks
What i wouldn't give to be going to a festival/gig right now. Damn covid
I love it when bands put their own spin/personality into these old great Floyd songs.
id like to hear their version of Time
This Pink Floyd sounds a lot like Tame Impala. Good to hear Tame Impala influenceing band around the world.
you really trynna confuse people here hey 😂
Bruh Pink Floyd was waaaayyyy before Tame Impala so it's really the other way around lol

Didn’t realise these guys were that good. Damn I’ve been missing out
Music is the good shit in life, right next to love.
That bass tone is so sweet 🌻
So true, love it when it comes in.
This is a lot better than their cover of baby come back. They’ve grown as musicians.
Facts
See I still love that cover!! But in terms of skill and development you’re 100% right! They absolutely rock

Beautiful medley rendition. Love to see Ocean Alley on here again
@@TxtTalkMusic for sure
Unbelievably brilliant cover. Pink Floyd not easy to cover and these boys nailed it 👌
This is one of the best covers of anything I've ever heard
Like a Version must be the most marvellous radio segment in the world. Hear new favourites cover old favourites. Ocean Alley /pink Floyd. Genius.
Man I wanna see these guys in concert so bad, hopefully one day!!
I bumped into them at a pub a couple years back haha
I've seen them twice, and they were brilliant both times!
Going to see them in August as well as the prn crumpets, so fucking hyped!
It's an amazing atmosphere, they sound pretty damn similar live to recorded.
They are even better live, saw them recently and was blown away

One of the best LAV's I've heard in a while. Great song choices and well performed.
Heard you on triple j this morning. You sure would have made Pink Floyd proud. Loved it so much!!
Two Like a Versions in a row in 7/8 time signature!
faith in the music industry has gone up slightly
Are you referring to Elephant? I've always heard that as 4/4 but it definitely gives weird meter vibes
@@bentaylor4203 it may be a bar of 3/4 on the end of 3 bars of 4/4 but i think there is a note that is skipped
The best ever! Ocean Alley absolutely kill it everytime they get on Like a Version
