  • My Ford 2014 Ford Kuga 1.6 / Escape pop up an Abs light, ESC light, Hill start assist not available message. After a few weeks of annoying message, I decide to diy and perform a fix on this.
    Tools required:
    3 ton jack, jack stand, nut socket, breaker bar if required, torque wrench for wheel nut and wheel speed sensor, 1/2 electric impact wrench, locking pliers, Torx bit, new wheel speed sensor, OBD scan tool that support your car ABS diagnosis (I use OBDLink MX+ and it’s scan App and I bought FORScan lite App as well), electrical tape

    Its because the ABS unit is looking for all wheels to be spinning at a similar rate. if one wheel spins then the count from the sensor on that wheel will be different than the others, hence an alarm state! Theres just too many sensors on vehicles these days. Brake warning sensor for low brake fluid "YES" but different rates between wheels? Overkill. There is also way too many audible alarms on vehicles, like you open the door and the car beeps at you to tell you the door is open! What should be available on all vehivles is the ability to turn the audible alarms down, actually it should be mandated!.

    My Ford Kuga 2015 had the same warnings as shown. Turned out to be the rear near side speed sensor. Quick fix (there are two type for my model and are colour coded....choose the correct one !)

    Update on my 2016 Ford Focus SE 2.0 L. Both hill assist not available light and traction control light turn on them off. It was bad tire balance which ruined tire. It had bald spot and I drive it to work which ripped out a chunk of thread. Replaced it and rebalance it. No more lights and very smooth ride. Also before this checked and rebalance one tire. Should've checked the other one too. And not very noticeable vibration coming from steering wheel. Only a lil . Wasn't even sure.

      If changed a single tire and the other side is still old one and of different brand, obviously it is uneven weight across the left tire and right tire, and this may be the reason w still a tiny little vibration from steering. Thanks for sharing

    I don't know what Kuga is. Mine is 2016 Focus SE 2.0L. Hill start assist not available light and traction control light also on. Someone said it's wheel sensor. One said wheel alignment is off. My feedback vibration on steering wheel at high speed seems a bit more than before . Have you heard wheel alignment might be cause also ?

    • @snapsuml8796
      @snapsuml8796  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Frank Montez, if vibration at high speed but steering is straight, it may be caused by uneven weight across the circilar motion of your tire and wheel (front or rear wheels)usually you have to do balancing it after tire change. For the instrument light it is can be checked easily with the OBD tools (with ford support). If your steering is not straight, there may be other issue (eg control arm ball joint aging, tie rod ball joint aging)if your vehicle is in high mileage and it better to check those parts before wheel alignment (or even after alignment it may get worse result) one other possible reason is uneven tire wear. Usually i will have tire rotation for every oil change. Maybe your car have both abs wheel speed sensor and the possible causes i mentioned above.

      @@snapsuml8796 yeah it was bad balance . Ruined my tire. Replaced and balanced and now hill assist and traction control lights are turned off for at least a week. Much smoother ride.

      In my case my car could still be operated and might encountered tight steering right after start up. Please refer to Owners manual for the instrument cluster. Usually if the message indicator is Red, you should pay more attention as that may indicate a critical failure.

It goes away and at random times it turns on again. I have a code reader but it does give me any codes. Could it just be a bad sensor?

    • @snapsuml8796
      @snapsuml8796  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think it should be the bad sensor. Maybe your code reader cannot read the ford codes that can tell u the exact wheel

      Hi David Osejos from Ecuador, if you have a OBD reader that can read Ford code it will be more easily to find out the DTC so you know exact code and wheel. If you don’t have the reader, I have seen somebody changed all four wheel speed sensors. Please be reminded the front and rear sensor are different and they have different part no.

      With the lights on i experienced tight steering a few times (but not always) after just starrted the engine and drove at the beginning. According to this it maybe. However you should check the code to identify the exact reason and if it is to see which wheel
