People sleep on the dry roux method. My New Orleans family taught me this way 5 yrs ago and I'll never go back to the traditional method and it tastes exactly the same. You can also make extra and store it in the fridge and use it in the future to make gravy. They also taught me the oven method but it takes longer.
Thank you island vibe queen I am literally learning how to cook off of you, you are doing me and my family a huge favor love it keep up the great cooking! 😊
My 15 year old daughter and I made this delicious recipe for the first time and it came out as a smash hit with the family. Loved your trick for the rue. You are pure Awesomeness. Love your recipes!!!
Some people tend to think that making gumbo is long and hard process. Only thing that challenging is the reaux. Seafood doesn't take long to cook. It's a 30 minute at the most process. Yours looks delectable !!!
I’ve always wanted to learn how to make gumbo, but the process always seemed tedious and stressful, until you blessed me with your Rouex hack, now I make this about at least once a month I can’t get enough!!! You are the GOAT! They need to give you all the cooking show
Beautiful accent, beautiful woman, beautiful cooking. I hope someone out there is enjoying the luxury of having all 3! Sorry got a little distracted. I do love this channel though. Anything I make from this channel delights friends and family and they can never guess what I'm making! Bwahahahaha..... My dad being from Trinidad 🇹🇹 I do stop by here often when I have a taste for Caribbean! Been cooking for about 12 years. I still must say; Thanks for helping me look like I know what I'm doing! 😭😂
Definitely gonna try the roux method. Still takes a while but I like the idea of only having to deal with the flour in the browning process and the use of butter is interesting. I think with the long process of oil and flour you have to use oil Seems like butter will burn. But who wouldn't want butter in the dish. I will add some okra and some salt. Seafood needs salt in my opinion. I love your processes.
Also a question: When you say to set the burner on low for browning the flower do you mean the lowest setting, where it says "LO" on the dial or like a 2 or higher. Thanks.
As a British person, I love watching your food and learning how to cook amazing dishes I never heard before. This gumbo looks exceptional
I agree with you. Check mine as well love.
Thank you 😊
You can also brown your flour in the oven in a baking pan and it keeps forever and you'll always have it at the ready
Ohhhh! Nice
Wow good idea I have to try that
@@IslandVibeCooking yep, works great and less work!
