    It's so funny. Every pen you said wouldn't work actually did work quite well. Great video.

      Oh, that's interesting. I'm glad that you had better results than I did! I also live in a semi-arid climate, so we have very little humidity. So my pens tend to dry out quite quickly if the caps aren't perfectly tight or well made. It's great that you had better success than I did! Thanks for watching!

      I'm so glad that you found it useful. It is nice to see how pens perform before you buy them, otherwise it can be a very disappointing experience. Thanks for watching and for your kind comment.

    So helpful, thanks so much! I was looking for an acrylic pen to sign my recently completed acrylic painting of my favorite neighborhood cat, Felix. I'm buying the Uni Posca Paint Marker Extra Fine (0.7mm) now. Colors are a bit limited but I can use the black or gold for the signature. thanks so much. PAINT ON!!!

      You're welcome! The Posca's are amazing pens. After spending so much time on a piece, being able to have a good quality pen to sign with is a great thing. You're right, the colors are limited, but I tend to use a lot of metallics, black and white in my projects.

      Thanks for watching and I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I own A LOT of paint, so if you can end up buying less paint, that's a good thing! There's so many brands out there and so many types, it can be hard to know where to start!

    Thank you for posting. I agree with your take on the Molotow - - super expensive and limited use. Dried out quickly and as you showed in the video. If you try and shake to dispense it, it bleeds and leaves a glob.

      I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Molotow paint markers, I'm glad that I'm not the only one running into issues with them! Considering the expense, I was really surprised how quickly I ran into issues with them.

    You don’t need the scissors, just twist the cap and it breaks the plastic. I love these paint markers as well.

      To be honest, I haven't given their paint pens a try yet. For this video, I was using all the pens that I'd been using in my art practice for a while. I did create another video about inexpensive paint pens that you might be interested in. th-cam.com/video/3Vc-4KJUNho/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cYbNefI2fedWEDC7
      I would love to try to Arteza pens, but since I have more than 100 paint pens, I thought I'd wait to go through a bunch of them before buying some more!

    How fast does the paint dry? Is it possible to mix colors?

    • @hopalongstudio
      @hopalongstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! The paint dries pretty quickly, it depends on the humidity in the air and how thickly you apply it. As I'm in a semi arid climate, it's dries very quickly for me. Usually by the time I go to put down more color, the paint I've already added is dry. I haven't tried to mix colors on a project, that would be a little bit tricky with a paint pen because it does dry quickly. Usually if I want to mix colors, I tend to use a brush and paint. But there's no reason you can't try mixing 2 paint colors together while still wet.

    What’s the difference between acrylic and mat paint pens??? I’m just starting out and don’t know the difference

    • @hopalongstudio
      @hopalongstudio  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question. I didn't cover it in the video, so thanks for asking. In my searching, I generally don't see a lot of paint pens that indicate if they have glossy or matte acrylic paint in them. It often depends on the brand on how shiny or matte the paint will be. Generally pastel colored paint pens will have a more matte finish due to the fact that there is white paint mixed in with the color. But looking through my sample book, most of the paint pens aren't really glossy. They generally have a more balanced, muted finish. If you are looking for something shinier and brighter, then look for metallic paint pens. I hope that answers your question!

    I can’t see the gold on the blue background why is that??

    • @hopalongstudio
      @hopalongstudio  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be the lighting and my camera angle. Depending on the quality of the paint pen (how opaque the paint is) and how dark or light the background is, this will effect the intensity of the gold color.

    Twist the cap and it will open. No need to use any sharp object
