    As far as i know, glow plugs are used to help start diesel engines in cold weather, so in your case engine should fire just up even without glow plugs connected. It is propably related to fuel - so first need to check if engine is geting fuel at all. Will wait for next update on this beast.

      Is there an engine temp sensor on the injectors? Maybe since it starts cold everything is operating fairly normally, but when warm/hot the fuel pump is somehow bugging out.

    When I was in the Army and our HMMWV wouldn’t start we covered the exhaust with the manual/book and then cranked it until it started. It always worked.

      How does that work though? I get the logic of trying to keep the pressure high in the cylinder, but if your exhaust system and cylinder are at higher than atmospheric levels, wouldn't that pressure just escape as soon as the intake port opens? Surely while starting the pressure in the intake manifold is around atmospheric levels?

    Loosen the nut on the injectors slightly, when you're turning the engine over there should be diesel seeping out, if not it's most likely the distributor pump.

    Its either getting no fuel (probably the main cause) or there is no compression. Even in cold weather diesels dont NEED glow plugs to start just to aid them. if its got fuel but no compression then youll see white smoke (un burnt diesel) or its got no fuel, do a compression check to find out, or crack a fuel line to see for fuel, as long as its not common rail which i assume it is not

    Check you have fuel in the tank... check the lines, some diesels also need priming to get air out.

  • @GS0CK6
    @GS0CK6 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Glow plugs are for when its cold out! Warm day like yours the engine would start right over, sounds like you may have a fuel related issue, blocked injectors or a bad fuel pump or even blocked up fuel filter.

  • @farmsgrace341
    @farmsgrace341 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    First, check the fuel pump. They tend to go out as they are mechanical diaphragm pumps. Its non the passenger side of the engine. If that doesn't fix the problem. Check the fuel filter to see if its clogged. It's on the driver side of the engine compartment on the firewall. If that still doesn't fix the problem then check the electrical trigger wire going to the injector pump. If it doesn't get an electrical signal from the ignition, it won't feed the engine with fuel. If that still doesn't fix the problem the make sure that the fuel lines are still in tact.

    @thomasjohns13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Diesels don't need glow plugs technically. The compression of the engine is enough to cause combustion in the right ambient temps. Providing it's not minus numbers the up and down of the piston also generates heat.
    Check for air in your injector lines or see if the stop valve is partially held off.

    Definitely a fuel issue. When it's warm out the engine should run without glow plugs. The fact that you can't start it with new glow plugs mean fuel. Check the fuel pump and fuel filters next.

  • @lear60man
    @lear60man 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pop the fuel lines off at the engine to confirm its making the voyage. IF no bueno, change the fuel filter and check voltage at the fuel pump. How long can diesel sit before going bad? Oh, for giggles, I bought a open box Red Hydrogen for $150...its an awesome tank.

    looks like fueling issue.. normally if im working on a diesel engine I first check if there is any pressure from the electrical pump going to the mechanical pump.. even if the glow plugs were bad it should start but would take longer to do so and you would see some black smoke from the exhaust while starting

  • @tracktrend9722
    @tracktrend9722 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    the one glow plug with blown tip? hyyy?
    perhaps you should check if there is nothing in piston liner
    if all good
    then check:
    1.fuel
    2.air intake
    3. pressure in the combustion chamber
    Good luck :)

    That seems like a fuel issue and not a plug issue, check the filters for dirt and make sure fuel flow is correct. Probably worth checking that fuel lines aren’t blocked with rust or other crap if it’s been sat for a while as it could be blocked before the filter. Possibly worth checking tight turns in the fuel line or check valves if it’s got one.

    not a mechanic, just an ex-trucker - but if I had to guess, your engine isn't getting any fuel, and it's not making any compression either; check the air-cutoff, and the fuel pump...
