Maybe some drugs are negative. For instance, prescribed drugs HELP. Street Drugs DON'T! maybe people who fall victim to abusing drugs need HELP! maybe... people who abuse street drugs, then abuse prescription drugs.. maybe... the attitude towards helping people with addiction is a good place to start. I am an addict... but, i need to control my own self harming behavior. I need prescription drugs, i need to stop abusing them. I should have followed the instructions.
I say this as a severe polyaddict. "Yes, please, feed into the euphemism treadmill and pretend it's something it's not. Change words without changing attitudes. The signifier matters, the signified does not, and I am too lazy to care." I am a drug addict, pure and simple. Screw anyone who thinks altering language eradicates the problem with public perception. You have to be incredibly stupid to think this way.

Please use the term Substance Use vs Drug Use. The word Drug is antiquated and has incredibly negative connotations
No. Drugs are drugs. Calling them substances lowers severity of the term in its mental impact.
Oooo heroin substance now
Who made you the leader of drug use????
