Peer2Peer Project
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 มี.ค. 2020
Experiential Workers, i.e. peer workers with lived/living experience, are important service providers that play a crucial role in supporting individuals that use substances in overdose response situations. These situations are stressful, and can have lasting social, mental and emotional impacts for Experiential Workers. Unlike other healthcare providers and first responders, Experiential Workers often lack access to institutional or occupational mental health support.
The Peer2Peer (P2P) project aims to identify, implement and evaluate peer-led support interventions that would be valuable and effective for Experiential Workers.

The Compassionate Action Modules are a series of videos about stigma and discrimination experienced by People Who Use Drugs (PWUD). They are designed to engage PWUD and the people who provide services to them (health care providers, frontline service providers, managers, and leadership).
The Compassionate Action Modules provide an opportunity for PWUD and providers to learn from each other’s perspectives, develop solutions and practice compassionate care, effective communication, and self-advocacy.
This video was created as part of the Peer2Peer (P2P) project which aims to identify, implement and evaluate peer/ experiential worker-led support interventions that would be valuable and effective for peers/ experiential workers.

What a great video. Really shows the human impact of insensitive policing choices. I loved the extremely competent friends.
"Thank you for addressing this crucial topic, Sovereign Health! The nexus between drug use and mental health issues is complex, and your commitment to shedding light on it is commendable. The techniques employed by Sovereign Health to resolve these matters are significant for building trust with patients. They offer individualized treatment plans that consider both the addiction and the underlying mental health concerns, providing a holistic approach to recovery. The integration of evidence-based therapies and a supportive, non-judgmental environment is key in addressing comorbidity effectively. Furthermore, their focus on ongoing aftercare and relapse prevention ensures a lasting impact on patients' well-being, fostering trust and confidence in their recovery journey."
How about " hey... would you mind wearing long sleeve shirts at work? We can help you grab a few to get you started." I was super self conscious about marks from using on my body. They were everywhere though. Legs, arms, hands,. ankles, neck. Alot of bruises , more so than typical track marks. And i would always cover up even during the hot summer weather. Sucked. Much better now that i dont worry about that stuff anymore..😊
I lived in the DTES , was homeless and using ( just had a year not using but still on methadone) and knew lots of the usual crew down there ..and i instantly recognized the guy in the back using at yhe table. Then he leaves and she says 'see you later Moose"..and im like...THATS WHO IT IS!!! MOOSE! Aw.. cool to see hes still around and cool to see him involved in theae videos/ harm reduction info.
So true. If alcohol became illegal, the gangs would step up and sell it ..making huge profit. Oh wait...that has happened. Right. Also, interesting how the casual users of alcohol, cocaine, mushrooms etc are substances that take the longest to form a habit. Yet opioids only take about 3 days in a row of using before you wake up that fourth day not feeling good. Your body knows exactly what it needs. And so obviously you grab a bit more. Now you are stuck in the cycle.
Very well done.
This was hard to watch. And needs to be shared😢
Looking away is harassment😂
So beautiful thank you for all you do
This video is amazing thank you this really makes me more excited to get the training and certification in Peer Support Specialist I'am so very excited in my older age of 49. I got tired of going from Job to job and never being satisfied and now I have a desire and purpose to help those with whatever they need help with alcohol, drugs and digging a deep hole of desperation and not knowing how to get out of it, but there is way out of that hopelessness, using sexual manipulations., having very low self esteem and gaining esteem and loving myself all over again. Kelly
I'm getting ready to do orientation for Peer Support Specialist, I'm very excited for this opportunity in California where there is so much hurt in the community. I'm not from California I'm here caring or my mom in last stage of dementia. I know exactly what it's like to be an addict and walk away from that on my own, was homeless a couple times. I know the hurt I had to overcome. I have more hurt I'm a grieving mother whom raised 2 severely disabled sons whom passed away. I have overcame the grief with God's help. By being homeless and going to Heartland Family Service Peer Center I found out I had encouraged women to go to the peer center. Iam an encourager to people that are hurting... Have a great day, the Lord is with you always.
Amen!
Actually you need 1 cups and a half each berry and nuts 5 different kinds of berries blue and black critical mixed nuts peanuts and flaxseed and almonds critical baby spinach salmon banana and protein milk this is called the antioxidants diet it cures all your problems in your organs over the course of a year you shit out even dead chunks of flesh and yellow ooze and black stuff but once it's all out you think normal again the body is connected to the brain the body runs in a circle your crazy literally because of your organs your body doesn't function right
After becoming mentally ill was my begining of substance abuse before mental illness i was against it

This msg is for Mat n Vancouver. I noticed that u had an upside-down cross on ur hat. What a terrible waste of a wonderful, beautiful human being such as urself if u were to do such good n ur life of serving others yet end up n hell afterwards only to suffer an eternity of torment. It wudn’t seem fair. Pls find Jesus as ur Savior. U r a soul that deserves to b n heaven bc u act as an angel to many, giving them 2nd chances. Love to u 💝
Seriously Stacy? It doesn't even look like an upside down cross. Looks more like a + or just a design of some kind. But you seem like the type to look and see religious symbols everywhere and then are the type to look around for people that probably don't need or want to hear from you. In any case, do you REALLY think that Jesus would look down on someone like Matt?!trying to overcome the hardest thing while having compassion for others. Just because he has a SYMBOL ON HIS HAT???!!!. I thought it was vital to not idolize figures, symbols, buildings etc? To just hold Christ in your heart . If you actually think that anyone living like Matt does would spend an 'eternity in hell' because you think any being is that awful...I feel sad for you
if your religion will rebuke folx for symbols while overlooking how they live their lives in service and humilty then your religion is whack. period. Additionally, "the upside-down cross originally came from Saint Peter, one of Jesus’s disciples. According to tradition, when Peter was sentenced to die, he didn’t feel worthy of being crucified the same way as Jesus. So, he asked to be crucified upside down instead. Over the centuries, this act turned the upside-down cross into a symbol of humility and deep faith." but as a modern symbol it represents rejecting authority, embracing individuality, and pushing back against societal norms that leave out those living outside the fringes of what is "acceptable". It makes so much sense for someone doing peer support to don something like an upside down cross bc it pushes back against the good/bad binary thinking around people that use substances and the perception of peer support as either bad bc they enable drug use or good because they save lives....
I feel like a disgrace. Today at work was awful. I was taken to my supervisor's office with her and a high-ranking chef. They (or mostly the chef) told me that I've been touching my coworkers too much. Not THAT type of touch, of course not! Just casual ones, like on arms or shoulders. I was always very outgoing at work. When I asked her if anyone reported a complaint, she said it didn't matter. She told me that we need the workers to be comfortable in a good work environment, and that I pretty much shouldn't talk about anything other than work and school (I work at a university's catering service). She told me I shouldn't tell my stories because they may be inappropriate to my coworkers. Now yeah, I pretty much don't have a filter, and sometimes I guess I do say inappropriate stuff at work, but not horribly nor intentionally. I like to joke around and have fun with my coworkers, but I guess it isn't like that after all (more or less). I really didn't get specific information from the chef about what and who. She understands and likes that I'm outgoing, but she made it sound risky and in need of limits, for good behavior and my coworkers' sake. And again, that I shouldn't touch my coworkers (shoulders or arms) without their consent. But seriously, I'm not a creep! I don't randomly hug people or anything like that. I didn't mean to be so "handsy" (I say loosely). I'm so embarrassed about the office lecture. I am not like Biden at all. I'm really not. Have I really gone that far at work? I already hate being on the spectrum, and sometimes I actually hate myself. I wish I could work somewhere, not only for my coworkers' sake (should that presumption be true) and myself, because I'm so ashamed.
Nice video, thanks
Cool video. Now I know just this much more about workplace behavior. With this information I am better prepared to behave more appropriately in my places of work and in doing so improve my employee performance and stay out of trouble.
Why was every aggressor male or brown except two in this video?
Because most of the times it's a man

Traumas retain in people with very high arrogance. Entering (submersion 3 times with a certain prayer and crossing yourself) in water springs of orthodox saints (which are near or in monasteries)give very much power and sureness to people with depression, panic attacks, schizofrenia and other soul illnesses, there are some springs of mother of God Maria that heal soul illnesses. What stands for the inferiority complex of boys in terms of penis length: every woman needs a length that is directly equal to the length of her vagina. There are women who need 15 cm, there are those who need 18 cm, and etc. This is because every human has its own physiology and body proportions. Every human race has its own physiology. Due to the fact that there were many peoples in the same territory and they allowed this sin to mix their seed with another people (through knowledge or unknowing or under the influence of magic spells) for example a man from the original people in the territory of present-day Sweden with a girl from the original people in the territory of present-day Mongolia. In the same country there may be people with different body physiology, although according to their passport they are all Greek or Hungarian or Italian and etc..

Please use the term Substance Use vs Drug Use. The word Drug is antiquated and has incredibly negative connotations
No. Drugs are drugs. Calling them substances lowers severity of the term in its mental impact. Oooo heroin substance now
Who made you the leader of drug use????
Maybe some drugs are negative. For instance, prescribed drugs HELP. Street Drugs DON'T! maybe people who fall victim to abusing drugs need HELP! maybe... people who abuse street drugs, then abuse prescription drugs.. maybe... the attitude towards helping people with addiction is a good place to start. I am an addict... but, i need to control my own self harming behavior. I need prescription drugs, i need to stop abusing them. I should have followed the instructions.
I say this as a severe polyaddict. "Yes, please, feed into the euphemism treadmill and pretend it's something it's not. Change words without changing attitudes. The signifier matters, the signified does not, and I am too lazy to care." I am a drug addict, pure and simple. Screw anyone who thinks altering language eradicates the problem with public perception. You have to be incredibly stupid to think this way.
@@kayceymcgregor5620 Despite this being a month-old comment, I'm curious on how you're currently feeling. I know I am a stranger, who's learning about this in 12th grade, but it made me curious on how you're doing. Sorry for the comment, just hope you're okay.
May I respectfully suggest there should be a Content Warning for this video? It seems to be that the subject matter could be extremely jarring for some folks. That said, very well done!
Thank you for this! Very informative.
Is she an actress or model?
Just found my girlfriend 2 nights ago on the bathroom floor unresponsive, purple, not breathing, no heart beat. I've never dealt with an overdose and i don't do drugs so this was all very new to me, but i knew she had a history of heroin use ans recognized what was happening. I was sure she was dead but started CPR anyway as I called 911. She never took a breath on her own for the entire 13 minutes I was giving her cpr but I did get her heart going again and just continued compressions and 2 breaths every 100 compressions until EMS arrived. Thankfully she's alive and doing well and recovering in the hospital now. I learned CPR years ago because I have 2 elderly parents. Never thought I'd need it but damn glad I knew how to do it.
Thank you for your comment ShaneTweezy. That sounds like a very scary situation, and it's amazing that you were able to respond so quickly and save her life. Overdose response is such an important skill to have. We hope that your girlfriend continues to do well and makes a full recovery <3

Everyone wants to decrease or eliminate the stigma associated with drug use and/or the people with a substance use disorder. In a nutshell, Stigma is discrimination and hate. It is obvious to me that one of the first things we can all do to accomplish this is to quit using the words that have been clinically proven to create said stigma. "Addict" being one of them. If we want change, sometimes we too must change. To learn what words are perpetuating this Stigma please go to the link provided which is the "Addictionary" (they will have a "Stigma Alert" beside them) and eliminate them from your vocabulary. :) www.recoveryanswers.org/addiction-ary/
This is great, Guy! Thank you for sharing.
