    Oh another comment that I learned on my own. Nobody could explain that. Quick shifter, especially Ducati: up-shift works properly when the transmission is under load. And down-shift works properly when engine-braking. This is due to the nature of the technology, I’m not going to bore you with a large expl.
    Basically: open the throttle to upshift
    Close the throttle till you feel the bike eng-brkn then downshift
    Use the clutch if you feel the bike engine is not under sigificant load. Eg close to idle or easing of the throttle. That would get you a jerky shift or false neutral trying to quick-shift.

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it took me a second to adjust to it using it for my first time. It's been getting better and better the more I ride it though

    • @ook222
      @ook222 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also you really want to make sure you kick the shifter solidly if you are on full throttle. If you even medium tap and it decides to blip but not shift the bike is very prone to bucking you which can be pretty spooky.

    My V2 helps me alot in my riding experience. So much so that I almost ditch my RnineT(my first bike) for it, but after riding it that much, i began to understand the difference. I love both of them now, the feel and speed for Ducati. For a non experience rider this is almost counter intuitive suggestion, go for the V2 and you won’t regret it. I thought at first that i would be afraid riding a sportbike but after riding my friend R6 wow it was so cool it’s easy to ride and nimble more so with the V2. I hope this help😊

  • @omarsoueissi8219

    Hi,
    I have the V2 as well and I ride it in pretty hoy conditions. For the heat, changing the exhaust helps a lot, but granted it’s super expensive.
    For the color, they now make a v2 in artic white and it is gorgeous. Shame they didn’t release both options at the same time. Although I probably still would have gone with the classic Ducati red.
    For the expensive parts, that’s a general Ducati problem unfortunately...
    No comment on the throttle play. You can get it tweaked but I think it’s the safer option coming out of the dealership.
    Shiftet is a pain. From 1st to second gear you need to make sure to REALLY hit it to avoid hitting Neutral. This problen kinda improved after the first service, in-line with other Ducati models.

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My personal dislikes so far are: 1.The mirrors. 2.Throttle play. 3.I guess getting the kickstand down depending on the shoes I’m wearing. 4.No gas gauge. I know these are nothing major tbh most things I can change pretty easily.

    Throttle Slack......curse of the modern age!
    I had rhe exact same issue with my Thruxton.
    Didn't bother me over much until I fitted a supercharger, because the bike pulled so much harder, the twin lurch problem was really exacerbated.
    I know you'll have heard it before, but the throtle spacers, originally made for you Ducati boys, solved the problem completely.
    I take your point about it being a new bike, but it makes such a huge difference I'd stretch the point.
    Congrats on choosing arguably the most beautiful bike made........

Hang your originals on the wall as art and just buy a decent set of aftermarket ones in white or paint those yourself. Have to disagree on the red....it my favorite color....and for the accessories yeah they are expensive, but the Akrapovic exhaust is the first on my list of upgrades, kinda want to ride it awhile stock so I can feel the improvements when I put it on. DB HBB yeah the red has grown on me and it honestly does compliment the bike and the Ducati spirit nicely. I just always wanted the 959 with the Arctic white but looks of the V4 and they finally came so close but narrowly missed my ideal combo! I can tell you this is the only vehicle I'd ever buy red in my life so that's saying alot about how well it looks on the bike. You'll have to let me know if the Akra is worth it. I can easily understand and justify the price of it for the V4 but it's a large chunk of money to toss on the V2. Thanks for checking out the video! 👊

    Hey dude, I hear you... Except for point number 5. It might actually have to do with your riding. I don't think you should be shifting on the apex, because if it fails, it gets scary!. I ride a 2021 s1000rr. It is smoother, but that fail has happened, once or twice. Shift to second before the apex (specialy if you're bringing the first to red line) and you'll have enough torque to move out of the apex once you see the exit! That would be my suggestion to you. I do love a Panigale V2 and I would certanly ride one. Peace

    Not sure if you have heard but the V2 comes in white. Also, parts for a Honda will always be cheaper than your Ferrari. I guess Ducati's don't need gas gauges because most owners are usually doing track days or sitting at the local coffee shop/gas station at a meet-up.... However, I have to agree that Ducati should have the throttle cleaned up with no free play.

      Weed Stick as far as power and weight go they're almost identical but the claimed top speed on the cbr is a little higher. It would probably feel about equal, maybe a tad bit less powerful. You will probably feel a little more torque at the bottom of the gears on the V2 but other than that it'll probably feel just a tad less powerful than the cbr. I'd still recommend this bike even if you had a 1000 though because it feels so much smaller than a 1000 and handles like a dream. If you just want the thrill of the power then I'd look elsewhere or get a V4. I hope this helped 👍

    There is no gas gauge because of the shape of the tank and how it extends below the seat. No space for a float and electronic gas strips are not very accurate.
    Just do a trip reset when you fill the tank. I have a Streetfighter V4 s and no gas gauge, no biggie.
    Last, go to ducatispacer.com and get a spacer set that removes all the play in the throttle. Do some google search brother and you will find all the answers.

      Yahmadoo honestly I'm kind of torn. I do think the V4 is a cleaner look obviously, I mean it's perfectly integrated. That's something that sets apart these exotics from Japanese bikes. But I really love the way the V2 has the fender cutout for the exhaust too so 🤷‍♂️

      @@JonesBrosGarage can I get a first hand opinion, what bike do you think is comfier. I've ridden both the V2 and the V4. • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yahmadoo honestly it's hard to say. For me the V2 is the clear choice because it's already more than enough power and I'm only 5'6 so the V4 is essentially huge for me. The V2 is comfy as hell and is very easy to flick over but it does have that glued down stable feeling at high speed too. If you want an absolute thrill that can literally terrify you everytime you want it to, then the $7k more might be worth it. I'm personally comfier on the V2 but the V4 is another level of intense power, plus it's more bragging rights and I'd feel more prone to throw expensive parts on the V4 than I would spending all of that money on the cheaper V2, if that makes sense. For example, if you plan on dropping the $5k+ for the Akra I'd say you might as well just get the V4.

      @@JonesBrosGarage thanks alot Jones, I'm short also (5'7) and always was worried about getting a Ducati as they are meant for people above 5'8 unlike most Japanese bikes. I'll take your opinion into consideration. I generally want a Ducati that is enjoyable during long distance travelling but has substantial handling and power when needed. I've always wanted Ducatis purely based on the the looks, it's just the outstanding stance and look of the bike that makes me want to fork out an extra 5k. I live in the middle East and I don't know how hot a Ducati panigale can be in 45+ celcius weather. (Idk in farenheit). I've ridden the V2 and V4 but only for a short while and years ago I bought a 1199 and later regretted the decision as it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I ride a Ducati as well (1098 currently, going to get an 1199 soon) and honestly I don’t think they get that hot. My 2003 air cooled Harley bagger gets more hot than the Ducati does in traffic. It’s actually kind of nice when it’s 30-40°F to have a bit of warmth on the legs to keep me warm. I may be a bit biased though as the hottest temps I’ve ever ridden in was like 93, and most of the year where I live it doesn’t get above 80-85.

    Alright... I am looking to get a v2 as a first bike, I'm fixed on sport bikes and I love Ducati's style, so I decided to be moderately smart and drop the v4 idea, and now I'm here. Being an aspiring rider, would this be an okay choice since it has riding assistants and all of that, and yes it's pretty close to a liter bike, and honestly that part doesn't really intimidate me, I find that exciting, but I want to know EVERYTHING about this, even the cons, which is why I watched the video in the first place. So that being said, for a new rider, is there anything that I would have to watch out for that wasn't mentioned in this video?

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aidan Hamilton okay so most people will tell you this is a horrible first bike. I tend to agree with them that it's a bad idea. That doesn't mean it's impossible though or you won't be successful on it. I'm not going to try to tell you not to do it or anything, so I'll just list some pros and cons.
      Cons-
      1. It's extremely expensive to own as far as bikes go (basic services and desmo service are way more expensive than an average bike service)
      2. It's a hard bike to work on and parts are super expensive (not a good bike to learn the basics of maitnence on at all)
      3. If you drop it, you just messed up a dream bike and the parts again are super expensive.
      4. Obviously the power is insane and it has a ton of torque, it's a jerky throttle and if you get a little excited you can end up in a world of trouble
      5. It's a lot of people's "dream bikes" and close to being one of the fastest bikes you can buy. This means you'll have less to look forward to over your years of riding and it'll be harder to find a bike that'll give you that "thrill" of speed again
      Pros-
      1. The safety features are a godsend and will save your ass for alot of mistakes (although its nowhere near as forgiving as a proper beginner bike)
      2. The power band is pretty linear and won't come on out of nowhere like a 600 can be known to do
      3. The brakes are top notch
      Personally, I would have first been terrified and soon after been dead if I started on this bike. But everybody is different and there's people that start on 600s/1000s all the time and end up okay. It just takes alot of self control and practice.

      @@JonesBrosGarage whoa, I really appreciate all that effort you put in to respond to me, and yes I do agree with you on almost everything besides the fear, either I'm hard headed or I don't even know what, but I don't really think that would be a problem for me with all that power. And I recently saw a video about the same topic, how if you start low, you work up, and you gain from it and appreciate more, so I think I might start lower, but at the same time that american pride and ego of being able to get a super powerful bike as my first is so exciting knowing that basically the rest of the world can't do that. I don't want to settle for a 300, so 600 and up are my personal boundaries right now. However, maybe I won't go blow a ton of money on a dream bike just yet, maybe I should look forward to it like you suggested. Thank you so much, I really really appreciate your time and effort, and I do like how you said that I can make my own choices unlike other riders who say otherwise.

    1. It’s hot - get used to it. 2. Why change anything on the bike? Resale value will suffer. Just fill up every 100 miles/160km - millions before you have not needed a fuel gauge. 3. Ride the bike and not focus on the colour - no one cares anyway. Why should you? 4. It’s an electronic throttle and it’s NOT a track bike. 5. Get used to the shift. If you regularly pin the throttle you are just asking for a catastrophic engine failure. Respect the machine and ride it for the satisfaction of the experience of a beautifully balanced motorcycle. If it’s thrills you’re after you should have bought an R1, but then life expectancy goes down to almost zero. Why are you not wearing proper gear?

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lindsay Rowlands 1. Okay? 2. I don't care about resale and on Ducatis resale goes up with Akropovich/termi exhaust 3. I care about the color because I paid for it and bought it for how it looks 4. It IS a track focused bike built on decades of racing pedigree. 5. The shifter is meant to work better when under heavy load and the bike is designed to be revved out. This bike is just barely slower than an r1 and on the street you barely even notice the difference

      Jones Bros Garage 1. I’ve heard that there’s a way to insulate the seat from the exhaust. Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/e9U1RHB_iG4/w-d-xo.html There’s no denying the V2’s race heritage, but it seems it’s more a very tractable super sports bike than a track bike. The only way you could confirm this is to take the bike on track yourself - assuming you have track experience.

    • @JonesBrosGarage
      @JonesBrosGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lindsay Rowlands I'll have to check that out! And they did make a few minor tweaks to soften the suspension a tad bit from the 959 to the V2 so it is a little more street friendly. But, I've ridden a range of bikes from sport to sport-touring to "street-legal/ race replica" and the V2 is HEAVILY on the race replica side of the spectrum (hence the lack of a gas Guage). Bikes such as an r6 are just a track bike with lights pinned onto them and this Ducati will outperform an r6 with ease. I actually don't have track experience on a bike (I have a decent amount in cars though) and I'd really love to get out on the track soon!

    • @lrowlands53
      @lrowlands53 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jones Bros Garage The reason I say get some track experience is because you will need to learn skills over time that you can’t pick up just on normal roads. For one, there are very few roads with as good a surface as a track and the conditions are very stable - no other vehicles moving towards or across you, gravel, leaves or water to surprise and throw you off. Also, you get to practise the same corner many times. As you go faster, the gap between braking and accelerating go down and corner speed is much higher. Tyres that allow you to go fast are not road legal either. When I was your age I did a lot of track time and it ruined my enjoyment of road riding because it was absolutely clear it was not possible to have the same flow and rhythm on the roads. Many years later, my skills have blunted, but I know how to go fast relatively safely, but rarely do. I can manage a panic stop from 80 mph on my 1998 Ducati 748 without binning it - that took practise. Finally, car skills don’t translate well onto bikes and vice versa, evidenced by the number of pro bike riders who’ve tried. Going hard into a corner on a bike doesn’t have the g forces translated into your body the same way and the power to weight ratio means you can accelerate as fast or faster than a super car, but can only brake about as hard as a Honda Civic. Just stay safe and give yourself time to learn the bike, otherwise it would be a terrible waste of a viable human and beautiful machine. So, do track, it will make you a much better rider and safer and slower on the road - as proof, I’m still alive.

    PS: I agree with you on the no gas gauge and overall cost of ownership. Not only are Japanese motorcycles, and cars for that matter, more reliable, they cost less, perform and cost way less to iwn/maintain. Yes, it is a hot looking bike, but so are some others. Thanks for the video.

      I know I saw! I'm iffy on the red accents tho.. And yeah Japanese bike are great bang for buck and no worries about reliability.
