I am looking at building a DIY water separator project for the Kubota BX23s to make sure the water issue does not happen again. The BX23 series does not come with a water separator and water issues can happen easily given the large opening in the tank.
Many thanks for the tip. You were spot on. My BX23S had been sitting idle over winter with a quarter tank of fuel, hence lots of air. It started up alright, but after a few minutes started spluttering and lost power. I did not previously know about the water issue with diesel fuel. A fuel additive that deals with water cured the problem. In future, I will always use a fuel additive to prevent this happening again. The BX is purring like a kitten again.
Glad you got it back going. Having it die or run rough is like a punch in the gut. Nothing like a 20K machine banging around like it is going to blow up.
You're welcome. This is a common issue for the BX series from what I hear. It is due to it not having a water separator so now I am in the market for an aftermarket one.
My BX22 has the same symptoms. Especially when he said “after it warms up” it gets worse. I did replace both fuel filters about 50 hours ago( I have 670 hours now.) I will add 6 once’s of the additive, I usually add only one once. Thanks for your video.

I put a FWS on BX and it helped. I still have problems when it is really cold though.

Oh wow thanks for posting a vid of what the symptoms were! That will help me if I run into this issue.

Thank goodness it was easy !!!
It was a quick and easy fix. It scared me half to death when the new machine started jumping all over the place.
My kobota does this when I try to run off road fuel
