Yup. It makes for a more fun trail sled that still handles exceptionally well. It's not as good as a trail sled on the trail, and its not as good as a mountain sled off the trail. But it does do exceptionally well at both and is a great options for guys that either like to go off trail at all, or those who like to have a bigger fun factor on the trail. If you aren't already, please consider subscribing to the channel to stay up to date on our newest content. It helps us out a lot! Cheers, Jesse
The seating position is the way it is, simply because the bcx rear suspension places you higher. The tunnel, the seat, the plastic is all the same as a renegade. We have both and I can look down on my wife when she sits on the renegade... lol... That don't happen much any other time.
LOL this is the best comment we've ever had on any of our videos haha ... definitely sit up higher on it, my knees aren't as bent as on my renegade and its way easier to steer. I love it. It's a winner for me. Cheers, Mike
Hey Mike, I agree with you 100%, I just had the 146 for the last 4 yrs ago, and this year went into the BC 154 XRS thinking I would have issues with cooling and handling etc, not at all. As well you may want to consider an iso-vibe handlebar bracket as it allows you torque on the handlebar as your cornering. 👍🏼
Hey Mike, thanks for the review. I rented a BC while I was in Cochrane this season for 2 days. I agree, it seems like a toy, sits higher and is Super fun. You basically confirmed my feelings about the BC and I'll try and get one.
I have a RMK for the deep days or mostly when I go to the mountains. I want to get a Backcountry 146 600etec also for a daily sled with the 1.6". Thinking it'd be a great trail sled for our non groomed trails, and could still go off the trail or break a trail if needed! I have 1.5 days to decide lol.
I've owned a 2018 RBC for 5 years. That sled rips! Lighter than the mxz with more contact. It's not for a docile trail only rider. Pull back full throttle over rough terrain. It's a snowmobile not a boring trailmobile.
Thanks for posting this. You answered a lot of questions I had . I have a 2016 800 renegade and rode a 800 renegade BC and the gearing was noticeably different, it was more fun and more grunt than my renegade X Glad the 146” amazing
With you liking this sled soo much, next year you should think about getting the Lynx xterrain. Best of both worlds. More playful with that rear suspension and the best part is it has a full trail 42” wide front end. I loved my backcountry’s but they get tippy when Driven fast on the trails. Both great sleds but that xterrain is hands down the best 50/50 sled made. Such a cool unique sled.
Loved the xterrain I tried last week. Fantastic sled. Funny enough we find the new g5 backcountry with cmotion x not really tippy at all compared to the 2023 BCX in this video. I ran the sled for 400 kms one day and felt really comfortable. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz yeah they are okay, but if your truely riding hard with trail sleds it is tippy. A 42” front end is a gamechanger. We ride hard though.. we all ride dirt bikes in summer and like to ride fast and aggressive
@@xGR1MxREAPERx it's funny you say that because I thought the same thing. But on the last day when I spent 350 kms riding the bcxrs, the last 150 kms the first four of us were riding super hard (snowcross family) and I was able to keep up no problem. It definitely does require more body movement in the corners though to keep up with the renegades/raves. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz ya I raced for 11 years also when I was a kid/teen. To each their own I guess. Plus it looks cooler anyways lol.. 😂
Great perspective on this sled always wanted one but we ride alot of tight twisty trails with low snow and then some river riding and have always just run the short tracks. I would definitely love the fun factor of the front end comimg up and the deep snow performance on the river. My buddy has a switchback assault and has fun riding wheelies but can not corner with it at all on the trails he can not even come close to keeping up with us what so ever. I'm alot more of an aggressive rider than him but hate to make a 15k mistake and not be able to corner with it. I would also like the lighter steering you said it has as my shoulder's get sore on my 850 etec blizzard. So have you rode many tight twisty trails on the BC yet? Thanks
I have put the sled through its paces this year and ridden everything with it. It's not my first choice for trail riding tight twisties. Can it do it? Of course it can but a shorter track will be easier for those kind of trails. It does have lighter steering compared to my Renegade 850 xrs. Cheers, Mike
I love my Renegade 600… but at the start and end of the year I mostly ride power lines and gas lines and keep thinking a Backcountry would be that much better. Might be the way I go for the replacement.
Hey Mike, I ordered the same sleds for next year. Another Renegade XRS and Backcountry X. Not a fan of the 1.6 ice track. I had one by default on an mxz xrs, blew two-dozen lugs off of it in 600 miles.riding the same Frozen trails you are on right now. I always run 1.25 ice Rippers on my Renegades
The 1.25 is fine for trail riding on the Renegades but my next one will have a 1.5 for sure. I love the 1.6 so far - it hooks great but I've yet to see how long it will last. I'm close to 3000kms on it now so I'll take a closer look at how it's holding up over the next few weeks once I'm done with it. Cheers, Mike
@@sledaddicz yep, they definitely hook up. My problem was from high-speed riding on the Frozen trails. She got too hot blew the lugs off. Can't wait for the nimbleness of the backcountry!
Not really. The reason I didn't love the Mach is because I feel like I was sold on a hyper-sled that wasn't really the hyper-sled it was supposed to be. It's really that simple. Cheers, Mike
Put ds2 ski skins on with the skis set as wide as they will go. I did it to my 2019 and it handles like a dream. It's planted and no tipiness to it at all. And floats like a boat in the deep snow with the wide skis
I always loosen off my centre track shock spring...back it off until its loose and then just tighten it until the spring doesn't rattle. Usually mild adjustments if any from that position on all of my sleds. Cheers, Mike
Hello! I’m going to pick up a 2018 backcountry 850x! I was wondering is it good for trails? I just want to ride trials.. it was this or a 2017 freeride 800. Could u tell me what’s better for trials?
I've been running stockers but I have a set of Bergstrom's I'm about to try on it this week. Event with stock carbides it rails better than my XRS. Cheers, Mike

Thats part of it yes but the rear sits up higher as well compared to my xrs with Smart Shocks. With the 146, the machine has a little more weight towards front since it's longer. Cheers, Mike

Hey David. Here is a video we have done on our setup - th-cam.com/video/PvJzt-sL18g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wW3_uYvTcnHdHtwt

This is my move for next season. You can order a widening kit to make it 42" front end and should be an animal to ride! Cheers, Mike
Lynx Xterrain had full wide trail front end
Do you find the BCX runs hotter on the trail than a renegade or is it about the same?
It runs the same as long as you have scratchers down, otherwise it will run a bit hotter. Cheers, Mike
