    You and I have very different makeup styles, but I never miss an upload of yours and am subscribed to your Patreon as well. I really enjoy your reviews of products. You may be one of the most thorough, well-spoken makeup/skincare reviewers I follow. I really appreciate the language you use to describe texture, performance, fragrance, etc. and how in depth you explain your personal environment and skin. It’s helped me to be more critical of other beauty reviews I watch because “this products is just so good” doesn’t help me much. Your videos arm me with tools to be a more critical beauty purchaser, but also beauty community member. Thank you for you and Joe’s hard work!!

    As a fellow neutral-y olive, THANK YOU for talking about how and why colors turn so rosy on us! I am always looking for brown blushes, and even placing bronzers on my cheeks in place of blush ends up looking pink. It's nuts! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there with this issue; Old Gum is not quite my aesthetic, but your search is helping me find my own proper colors (like the Kevyn Aucoin bronzer) to help me keep from leaning too pink. I appreciate your efforts!

    I would love to see more Rituel de fille reviews!
    Their creme poducts are incredible. Intuition is the most gorgeous contour shade on pale skin - doesn't lean yellow or pink - just pure shadow.
    Their shadows have this amazing sheeny barely there vibe (or can be built up) which makes for a really amazing 'no makeup' eyeshadow.
    Their lipstick colours are stunning and they have some eye-gloss type products I have never tried but look really intriguing.
    So yeh,..... I would be really excited to see more rituel de fille in videos!

    for wings with a gel pencil product, i draw the wing with the pencil a bit shorter than i want it one eye at a time. then, before the product sets, i take a tiny pointed detail brush (like nail tech detail brushes on amazon) and flick the line a bit further for a finer line. then, sometimes i clean up the edge with concealer, but i find that i don't always need to do that. sometimes, if the bar of the eyeliner gets too thick on the top lid, i'll take that detail brush and diffuse the edges before going in with some type of shimmer shadow (skin tone shimmer if I don't want as a dramatic look, or any other color) these tricks help to control the shape from my experience :) love how the look turned out! -long time viewer, seldom commenter

    I could not vibe harder with RDF than I actually do; I was (until I had to step back from illness) a full time artist, I am a practicing witch it’s my dream to live in the woods! But, curses, I am very allergic to lavender, especially when it’s applied to my skin 😭 I just have to admire everything they create from afar because I know I’ll get a migraine and then break out in hives if I try to wear any of their stuff. So sad! But I’m very happy to see they’re creating such GORGEOUS products! Wear that highlighter one more time for me 😊💜

    I’d LOVE to hear how you think the RDF highlight intensifier you showed here compares to products like the Fenty Diamond Bomb or Mario’s Master Crystal Reflector. On the surface they seem similar, but maybe not so interchangeable?

  • @caithenry8429
    @caithenry8429 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Ah man, RDF is one of my favorite brands in terms of aesthetics. Their eye soots are also great even though the component is clunky and difficult to use- BUT they do samples on their website and its practically perfect for how much product you use at once and it's far easier to use

    My no fail hooded eye wing technique is to draw a line out from the middle of my lash line, at the level of the top of my eyeball and then filling in below that into a wedge shape. On a hooded eye it looks straight and doesn't have that dip toward the outer edge. I hope that someone reads this and finds it useful. :D I got the condensate blush after Kackie had it on her channel. I'm wearing it today. It is the exact color of my lips so I think it looks pretty natural on me and yeah, the formula is amazing...I have wanted the RDF alchemist for so long. Thanks for the review. It is exactly what I wanted to know. I have other products that fill that niche and I can skip it for now...

    The highlighter looks interesting, but I think if I were to apply it I’d also apply some on the collar bones, chest, maybe even a little bit on the shoulders and arm because otherwise it creates an obvious contrast (shine, texture, color) between the face and the neck, because of how shiny it is.

    I love the Rituel de Fille highlighter. The Flame has been my go to blush since it came out a couple months ago. Using the Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder as a check primer, sandwiched in between two oily layers, over my heavy moisturizer, sunscreen, and glowy primer, and under my balm foundation, cream blush, and highlighter, it works amazing. I wouldn’t say it sets fully, but it becomes really durable and lasts my whole work day, in an active job.

    I really love RDF and got a sample of the Thorn Oil and was not expecting much from it, but I ended up loving it so much that I purchased the full size. It singlehandedly solves my problem of foundation never looking good on my nose. My combination skin (oily T-zone) loves the RDF Thorn Oil!

    • @emmafoley8987
      @emmafoley8987 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love oils, so I was wildly tempted to put Ulta points towards a full bottle of the Thorn Oil. Your comment prompted me to check the RDF website: purchasing a sample was a much better idea than committing to a full bottle, since I rarely finish primers. The other samples I got helped me finally find a good contour for me, Intuition! (I'm another super pale green person that found their first good concealer because of HLP). Thank you for talking about the samples!!!

    It took me years to realize the reason everything turned so pink on me was because I'm neutral/olive. It use to drive me crazy how maybe or neutral pink something like a lipstick would look in the tube or even on others but on me they always just look super pink. For the longest time I thought because I'm fair I must be cool toned ya know because almost all fair foundation shades are cool.

      RE: the illuminating question on the thorn oil, they made a limited-edition radiant version last year! That's the one I have, though I do find that it requires so much extra shaking-up before each use that it's mildly annoying, and I kind of wish I just had the plain one. Sure looks beautiful in the bottle either way, but it's oily enough that I have never committed to it as a consistent part of my makeup-priming routine.

    I must admit I have ordered their products twice (and I might add ordering to Europe is not the cheapest pleasure) and their lipstick is the best shade close to my natural lip colour. The colour is beautiful but I feel it on my lips through the day and I don't like that feeling. But I almost finish it and I kind of regret that I can't get it in Europe. And I love their blushes. I have “Lovesick” shade. In the packaging it seems dirty and dark, but on the cheeks it looks perfect: a bit like “I’m embarrassed to see you but at the same time I'm getting hot inside” 😅 the highlighters are the most beautiful ever, although for me it's just to look at them - they're so intense! Each product was or is like a little treasure for me, some I sold with a heavy heart but the ones I have so far I haven't got tired of. And names of their products - love the ideas!

    coincidentally i just got RDF’s black orb in iron and their roseus intensifier 😍.. it will come with a sample of the thorn oil as well. @hautemesstom looooves their highlighters, he has quite the collection 😂🥰
    hoping i can withstand the balmy texture as RMS living luminizer was too sticky for my liking
    and i’m going to keep saying this, but please review Isamaya’s eyeshadow palette. i would love to hear your thoughts on all the formulas in it! x

    • @julias5980
      @julias5980 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I can answer this! Like any oil, it will totally melt your sunscreen if applied over top just like you were going after it with a cleansing oil. It's LOVELY used as a primer in the evening for going out, or as skincare, but you can't use it as a primer over sunscreen. I found that out the hard way with the Glossier future dew so now I know that priming oil = not for daytime wear.

    • @hijennwu
      @hijennwu ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so when you apply green corrector over the red spots the color gets cancelled out, but when you apply red-ish blush on an olive skin tone the red pops up? in my opinion they cancel each other out, that's why red-ish/brick red blush looks more brown on you (because red and green make brown), and that's why a color that is slightly off (mauve/dusky rose/pink-ish colors) actually looks like blush on you.

    Confession time. I WAY overspent on RdF a year or so ago -- I got some of everything. It's fun playing with it all, and I love the rosemary, lavender, and frankincense in their products, but I can get NONE of it to actually last on me, whether or not I prime and regardless of how I prime...to the point that I wouldn't trust wearing their products out in the world, even if I end up looking ethereal and magical. The second I touch any of it, that spell would be broken. 😂 I haven't had this issue with anything else and usually am able to figure out how to enhance staying power, but not so with RdF. I feel like I am missing something because I've not seen this feedback echoed by others. But I'm keeping it all, just to play with, because never have I spent that much in one go. Lessons.

    Oh wow, I received the Thorn Oil Immortelle stick (preview) at the end of 2020, and forgot all about it! Now I’m wondering where the heck it went. 🤔 The pandemic, as well as my decluttering, who knows. I might have already rehomed it.
    My skin doesn’t play well with a number of oils, which strikes me as odd, so I’ve gotta be careful what I apply. Most anything I use to moisturize my face feels a bit itchy, whether my skin has a visible reaction or not. Even products that, so far, my skin seems to respond well to. I’m pretty sure it’s many oils that do this, due to more extreme reaction to castor oil. That said, I can take single oils from the kitchen, and put them in my face, no problem, but most face products don’t use pure olive, sesame, or coconut oil.
    I really like a number of derma-e products. In fact, their Vitamin E 12,000 IU cream is my go-to main face moisturizer. That said, I’m *SO* bummed about their corrector you’re testing. It has a castor oil derivative in it.😭
    That’s also an issue I have with most RDF products: castor oil. I just have to look away.
    Was curious about the glossier eye pencils until I saw they have castor oil. 😕
    Ya, what you describe about condensate is what happens to me with a lot of colors. SNY Cocoa looks like what my skin does with a sunburn, and illamasqua frisson, a muted dusty pink in the pot, looks feverishly Barbie on these cheeks. I can wear Cocoa on my lips, however. I wonder if frisson is lip safe?🧐
    Thanks for the reviews, HLP!

    Ok ok I know this is probably nitpicky, but I do feel like you’re the sort of person that would want to know? but the name of the phytosurgence blush is not pronounced “subliminate”. It’s “sublimate,” which means to transition directly from a solid to a gas, such as dry ice sublimating into carbon dioxide (and no, this is not an aluminum vs aluminium sort of thing)
