      Completely agree! I’m tired of seeing all the “Are these viral products worth the hype??” videos, as most of the times are those just as superficial as the Tik Toks they are inspired by. That’s why I also like Kackie’s channel, she usually has tried products several times before using them in a video.

      My biggest pet peeve is when someone posts their monthly favourites, and it's just what they've tried recently. It's like, no, the things you tried were permanent... let's see some updates on em, however brief.

    This is why I don’t value “first impressions” videos. I absolutely love (and respect) your Pat McGrath palette review. You took the time to use it in order to form a valuable and accurate opinion of it, and it showed. That review was so informative and helpful I literally rewatched it just because it was that good 👍🏼 I like seeing the wear on the products. Anyone can see them looking brand new on Instagram.

    Hannah, I'm so grateful for your videos about the olive undertone skin and the green color correctors! After watching them I finally understand why every base product I've tried in the past looked too pink or too orange on me. Now I know what I need to look for in a base product.
    Actually, I recently bought the Nyx green color corrector (can't find Exa in the Netherlands) and it's been game changing. The texture is a bit drying and too green for me to wear on its own, but mixed with the concealer, like you mentioned in the video, it's the perfect color. So much that I don't feel the need to use foundation anymore and my skin still looks perfected but in a very natural way.
    Thank you so much, Hannah.
    PS: Have you considered doing a series regarding light olive skin (most flattering colors, more tips, etc.)?

    You have steadily become my most trusted source of beauty info on youtube and this video, in just concept alone, solidifies that feeling even more! This might be a tall ask, but I'm definitely not a big spender with makeup/skincare and I would love if you made a video on budget/drugstore product recommendations based on your taste, especially with skin care and foundations because I share a lot of what you also gravitate towards and trust your opinions so much at this point. I love vicariously enjoying opulent products through your content, but if you ever talked in depth on things I could afford I would be so jazzed 🤗

    Oh Hannah, I wonder if the Missha BB cream (red tube with a gold pump and clear cap) would work for your skin. The shade 21 is grey and thin enough in consistency that it would be perfect for you (providing it’s not too dark). It works for my olive undertones and it’s cheap and absolutely wonderful. It also looks lovely with it without a thin layer of powder

  • @Lisa_Petrison
    @Lisa_Petrison ปีที่แล้ว +34

    The Tatcha liquid primer has a LOT of silicone in it, which makes it totally different than the Exa primer which has no silicone at all. Silicone-free primers work better with some kinds of foundations (such as Jones Road WTF or KosasTinted Face Oil) and some people say that they are less likely to cause skin problems since their skin can sweat/breathe better. But silicone primers usually are thought to be more effective. So if you like the Exa primer almost as much as the Tatcha, that is an accomplishment for it.
    I would like to hear what you think about the new Fitglow green color corrector, which I haven't seen you review yet.

    What I've realized as a fellow olive undertoned person is that I prefer the look of peachy to neutral highlighters a lot more than most golds. I hate getting that AWRANJ or canary yellow flash unless it's on the eyes.
    I finally caved and restocked on my "cozy sweaters" aka futuredew and You perfume-- so literally just tried their topaz haloscope over yesterday/today and it's blush/bronzer on me. I knew in my heart of hearts I should have gotten quartz, the lukewarm rose shade.
    I learned my lesson and will be trying Phytosurgence's Divine Daylight, a peachy neutral, soon. I WILL BE BURNISHED AND THRIVING! 🤠💖✨️

    I love hearing updated opinions like this, even when it’s “my opinion remains the same”! I was wondering, do you find the Kosas foundation works particularly well with certain sunscreens or primers? I haven’t figured out how to best use it for it to sit right. It’s finicky for me, like makeup sitting on the skin. I am trying lots of application methods (sponge, brush) and bases. I know that it’s a water based formula so I’m trying to avoid silicones but that’s not solving the problem. Anyway, would love to hear what your experience has been!

    • @elizabethferguson6052
      @elizabethferguson6052 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have been using the kosas over the wet n wild glass correct green primer (also water based) I have found it works well. However I am very careful to wait AT LEAST 10 minutes between skin care steps. I usually do a light serum (currently Dr perricone)
      Then wait 10-15 minutes, then sunscreen, (innisfree or glow screen, sometimes both)
      another 10 minutes- then primer plus another 7-15 minutes.
      Obviously this is ridiculous and time consuming, but I feel like my makeup goes on so much better when I give everything some time to absorb.

  • @agresticumbra
    @agresticumbra ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Yes, yes, yes, HLP, and muted, it seems, is lost on many western cosmetic companies. Muted does not mean whiter, paler, or even less pigmented necessarily; IMO it means less vibrant. I’ve found that the grey (and green) aspect is part of what makes base colors wearable for you, myself, and others. In fact, I’m experimenting with mixing a bit of taupe, and white, into SNY N13, just to make it appear more grey. We don’t need pink, peach, or yellow undertones. We require grey & green.
    Okay, I’m restating this but Kosas does *not* work at all on my uber-dry, 54yo skin. All the lightest colors make me look more sallow, which has become an issue as I’ve gotten older, but also, it looks chalky on my skin, especially around my eyes. The chalkiness is the worst issue. Texture is everything, and it’s wretched on my face. I love their deodorant, and cloud set powder, but can’t use their base products at all.

    • @Lisa_Petrison
      @Lisa_Petrison ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been experimenting with the Jones Road WTF foundation and though that product is problematic/controversial in a variety of respects, I have been thinking that part of the reason that it blends so easily into my skin is because it has a greyish type undertone that is similar to that of my low-contrast "Soft Autumn" skin. I think I need to try out more foundations looking for this aspect since it really does seem to make a surprising difference for me.

    UGH that Chantecaille Longest Lash mascara! I absolutely hated it as an actual mascara--I bought a tube a year ago, and found that it always smeared on me, immediately upon application and then throughout the day...but over time, I was shocked to find that it also actually thickened my eyelashes! I wish they would develop a clear version for use as an alternative to prostaglandin serums.

    As someone with very dry skin, I find that the kosas foundation does not work for me. It doesn't matter what type of skincare I have under, it ends up drying me out and emphasizing texture that you normally can't even see 🙃 I might give the concealer a try though.

    The one thing I’d love to see you review is Isamaya beauty, I really feel like you’d create some amazing eye looks with the palette. That collection really interests me and I’d like to see a comparison to PM midnight sun.

    YES! Saturation is the problem with base products for me too! I've tried fixing base products by adding more white, but that makes the product just lighter and a tad less saturated, it doesn't really do what I want, which is to turn the intensity of the colour down. I still don't know what my undertone is because all the base products are just too saturated, they all look off

    Your thoughts on desaturated colours in makeup being more suited to your skin tone have me thinking. I’m also very pale so I know first hand how stark an incorrect undertone can appear against white skin, but looking at your skin in the video it doesn’t appear to be very desaturated or to have much of a grey tone (though you may have colour graded the footage). I’m wondering if the ‘wrongness’ you’re seeing in some products that are too saturated might actually be down to a solid pigment foundation being unable to recreate the subsurface scattering of light through a translucent material like skin, rather than the colour itself being mismatched per se (like comparing a sheet of candle wax to solid card of the same colour). And if that’s the case, whether a desaturated opaque colour might be a better match for a more saturated (but translucent) skin tone than the opaque version of that saturated colour would be, which is what most foundation products on the market appear to be aiming for currently. Food for thought!

I have just studied it so I wanted to share the pronunciacion, cause at the beginning i was confused and i was thinking it was a new agent, but obviously not a big deal. Have a great day 💕

    I have several green color correctors, including the Nyx and Kiko ones, but none I have ever tried blend into my skin like they do on yours. Is it my technique? I have a cool undertone. When I use correctors, my skin turns either green or grey. I really want to make them work because I have a lot of redness. I have tried several brushes, mixing it with concealer or foundation, on their own… but it never looks right on me.

    • @HannahLouisePoston
      @HannahLouisePoston  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      a mystery! I feel like it must be an undertone thing. Sometimes I'm shocked by how much actual straight green I can put on my skin without it causing me to look green. I wonder if you might have more luck with a yellow corrector?

      hello! have you tried using a wet sponge? i have a similar complexion to you and i find that blending out the product directly after applying it helps cancel my redness whilst not making me look grey. since wet sponges tend to absorb more product i prefer them over brushes when applying corrector

    Literally commenting immediately when I saw you because that top is amazing. It’s low-key the end costume for Jobu from Everything Everywhere but more wearable and I am here for it
    I replied on the Kosas video about the eyeshadows and I was so wrong. I got a new formula eyeshadow and I had no idea just how much it had changed. The new formulation is awful. I have a few tubes of the old formula and it was perfect for my lids. Strong opinion but the new shadow formula is trash

If not, would you please keep it in mind for a future idea? Thanks for all the $$$$ you have saved me since I discovered your content last summer :).
