You shouldn’t thrift car seats because you don’t know if it’s been in a crash before. Most manufacturers have you replace car seats after any car crash. Also make sure to check the expiration date
I was SOOO waiting for this video!!! with car seat tho, i would be careful because they all have expiration date & you never know if it was involved in an accident and all of that. so just be mindful!
What a powerful beginning! I often feel overwhelmed with the caotic house and my two kids. I will make it my priority to simplify more and create a calmer environment for my family! Because in my heart there is room for one more little one. Thank you so so much for showing us the difference it makes in your life.
The only primary ingredient for that radiance and beautiful creation of a baby? Lots of sex. (coupled with love and it's not a terrible prospect when it's considered with Marge, or Mollie, or others. Do you have kids at all?
I love this!! And it’s so true, I’ve got my second baby and youngest of 4 (as I have two step children also). I’m so minimal this time and it’s actually easier. You need less, less to look after, less to move around room to room. It also helps not having baby/newborn/clutter everywhere that only adds to a mothers anxiety and mental load. Love this, and daily I try to be more minimal in what I actually need/use. Xx
Hi Margaret, as a minimalist and mum of 9, i think your list is fabulous, ive shared it with my daughter in law whos about to have their first baby. Its not just the products, but tour gentle and kind advice thats great ao thankyou, also thank you to your son for the reading lamp idea, so cool. 😊
I really love and appreciate your unique, raw and minimalist approach and advice. Thank you. With all the baby product "must haves" advertised to us (especially first time moms) it easy to get overwhelmed. I live a simplified life and new baby products are already feeling like all too much and maybe unnecessary.
The transition from 2 to 3 was also the easiest for me. (: It’s great that the older two have each other to play with during the times you can’t give your full attention. As I’m preparing for my fourth coming soon, I will frequently think of new and better things I could buy...but then I think, “Did I get by without this for my other three babies?...Yes?...Okay, we will be fine without it!” And I know those first months will fly by, and we will do just fine with what we already have. It’s a wonderful realization.
*me listening to the first one minute then pausing the video to go through the toys in this room*** Babies 4&5 due in April 🥰 Much love to you, Margaret! I’ll finish the video after this room is clean ☺️
Welcome to the world Rory. What a brilliantly refreshing video for preparing for a new born, it's been the best one I've seen. You made it seem so peaceful and simple. Thank you and God bless you and your family Margaret 🙏🌼
As long as you inspect the seat it’s okay. The old advice was to never get used, but the new advice is that as long as there is no sign of damage it’s fine. Even if it’s been in an accident. Obviously a mild accident.
@@kayelizabeth560 as someone who has been through many many car seat and child car safety trainings for a previous job, this is incorrect. A car seat needs to be decommissioned and replaced even after a mild fender bender. Car seats are designed to crack after a car crash to redirect the blow from baby. Even a mild accident, rear ending, fender bender etc, there will be micro cracks that are very hard to find in the plastic and if they are not immediately replaced, they will break entirely upon the next accident, injuring your baby.
This was an incredibly helpful video! I love how you explain how you use each of the items. You have such a calming energy - thank you for creating this video 🙏
This is such a great reminders Less is more, honestly. I’ve fallen for the shiny new products too and they hardly get used. Getting ready for baby #4 in January and I’m definitely minimizing this time around!
Margot I'll just take the opportunity to say that your husband is so incredibly lucky to be making those 4 cycles of love making and I hope it took a long time! You are blessed to see the results and I wish you a happy home life, family unit and even more solid sex! Lucky to maximise not minimalist on that!
Love this! Newly pregnant with #4 and the only thing i need is a new car seat. Loved the doona i had till now and ill probably get another one. Might also get a baby carrier wrap to try. The ones i tried till now broke my back so i could never carry my babies
Just a note for seat safety, get it from a trusted source because lots of car seats get sold after car accidents and it’s just not the safest bet. If you don’t know if the car seat was in a wreck, buy new. It’s just a safety hazard other wise! Otherwise I agree with the rest of your tips!
I'm not married and i don't have kids, but i hope that's in my future, and I'd like to keep my house from becoming overwhelming. This video is very helpful
This is my third or fourth time to watch this video. Love it so much!! I have a question for you and a comment. 1. Have you tried the Bibs or Itzy Ritzy pacifiers? I’m expecting my first and the one you mentioned is on my registry with them because idk what baby will prefer. Would love any feedback you have. 2. Yes to asking friends and family about strollers or having anything you can borrow really! I had originally picked out a $600 jogging stroller because I live in the country and need a bicycle tire stroller. Well my sister had one and just gave it to me! It isn’t the same one, but it will do the job perfectly and I saved a lot of money in the process! Also found out that it was gifted to her by my cousin who used it for her two children, so I love it more because of the history.
I’m expecting #3 right now. I have to disagree with the single carrier, for me personally. I have a wrap that has worked for the first few weeks, then my kids would get frustrated with it so I moved to the ring sling, which allows me hands free nursing while I’m standing/walking, and allows for multiple carry positions. After 6 months, I prefer to back-carry in my soft-structured carrier. That said, I have had one of each that I used for both my kids and will be reusing again for #3 (I had to repurchase the ring sling for this one since I gave mine away)
1 to 2 was harder for me. But i would not change anything. 2 to 3 was easier on me. Now my family is complete. But i agree with the clutter!ni didnt buy anything more than i had for the secound and third baby. Im working on eliminate clutter. Thanks for your video and content! And the most important: congrats for your little one!! ❤
My daughter (3rd) always refuse to take pacifier. 🤷♀️ it wasnt my choice, but omg! So happy i dont have to look and search everywhere to find it in the house
I said this same thing! After the second came each following was easy-we have four. Pacifiers, we offered them to all of our children. Each used them as small babies but my daughter was the only one dependent. She carried hers the longest. My boys stopped my 6-8 months.
I used to work with babies for a while and I saw how simple everything could be. They don’t really need much, it’s all about our interactions with them . I was looking for a video like this, to put my head in the right place for my future baby . Thank you so much ❤
Can we talk about the baby monitor stuff? I haven’t seen a lot about electromagnetism from baby video monitors but it is something I’m concerned about.
Hey Margaret! Really love your videos. Came across them this month as I'm expecting my first baby this month and was looking for last min tips! I tried using the link for the beef tallow for 15% off but it isn't applying. What am I doing wrong? ❤️
Over 200 is bad I have over 400(my 3rd...but 10 yr gaps) yeah Lord knows I needed this reminder I'm here because I know I need tips I'm like this is too much lol
Hi Margaret! I’ve been looking everywhere to find where you had the discount code for Albany park sofas but I can’t seem to find it anywhere! Do you still have a code for them! Thanks!
I’ve never liked them- I’ve nursed 9 kids but some people like them! To me the biggest help to get a good latch is to make sure they can breathe- I’ve had many a nurse at the hospital tell me that I don’t need to hold my breast away from the baby’s nose but it seems to help a newborn get a better latch.
I never used it for nursing, only 1 kid liked being propped in it. Keeping it because i have it to try with future babies but would not recommend to buy it
Have you dealt with tongue ties / oral tension issues with any of your sweet babies? We are navigating that whole sphere after finally getting to the root of my 10 months old long list of struggles with a tongue tie diagnosis. But it’s been so crazy and eye opening to learn of the cascade of knock on effects on the body from that tension she’s held for 9 months in the mouth …
Hi Amy, I’m curious, are doctors still snipping the tie to release the tension on the tongue? (This was done to a family member several years ago and I didn’t know if the treatment plan had changed. Feeding was hard but resolved and there was no problem with speech later on.) Best wishes.
@@brandywine4000 Depends what part of the world you’re in. Here in the U.K. unfortunately it is not taken very seriously and many (myself included) have to find our own info and go to private practitioners to get treatment as our national health service is in shambles in the some areas. But yes, good oral specialists who know what they’re doing definitely would be encouraging snipping it if it’s affecting tongue function. But the snip is only a very small part of the treatment, the baby has to learn to create new muscle memory and so lots of oral exercises etc. You’d be surprised how many of us carry symptoms of oral tension in our adult lives (eg. mouth breathing, snoring, chronic neck pain, jaw issues). My baby is having to learn to be able to sleep with her mouth shut and tongue suctioned up, it will be a long process for her, but worth it as most of family on her dads side have sleep apnea at a young age because of it.
@@brandywine4000my almoat 2 year old was born with a severe tie and the hospital pointed it out to me. He was snipped at 4 days old. He had issues with his mouth later on and i wonder if it was related

Margaret, you're so amazing for prioritizing your beautiful family above everything!! So much respect for you!❤
When I had my second child, I purchased only the basics. It was nice!
Girl, I loved your beautiful and calming words. I am almost 35 weeks pregnant, and I was feeling overwhelmed.

Make sure used car seats haven't been in a wreck or have been recalled!!!!!
Came to say this!! I would only buy/borrow one used from someone I knew and was close with, never the thrift store!
