    These items are wonderful but, frankly, most new parents cannot afford them and have no choice but to buy less expensive things. I agree with Krista P, you live in a world of affluence that most don't enjoy. I'm not criticizing your ability to purchase these things. You are blessed and I know you know that.

    Just seems like most of these are not economically realistic for most new parents. It’s a shame that many will see this and probably go in debt trying to keep up. Ladies, do your research. There are so many more great items that are affordable. They may not be the trendy names right now, but are tried, true and have been tested by so many moms.

      I do see what you mean, but these are just her personal suggestions. of course if these are out of someone’s price range they are basic enough items that people should know that these exact products aren’t the only ones out there and definitely shouldn’t be going into debt to get all the exact items she has. I do get that they aren’t in the price range for a lot of people including me, but she’s just sharing her favorites and we should be able to do our own research and make decisions based on more than just this one video. There are also a lot of videos suggesting lower price point items

      You don't need to break the bank to have a child. That's the number 1 lie women who want to have children are told. Babies are only as expensive as you make them be. They don't need Gucci or Halo. They don't know the difference.

    • @kandeekane1

      I can see what you mean too. When I'm finally pregnant, I'm going to add some splurges to see if anyone wants to gift it. If it's out of budget for my husband and I, there's lots of dupes it there. I think she's also in a different tax bracket than many of us 😊

    The snuggle me organic and dockatot are not meant for overnight sleep. Babies have died in them. hence they've changed their descriptions to "loungers". Please always keep an eye on your baby while they're in these x

    Ladies, if you’re planning to breastfeed, get your medical provider to write you a script for APNO (all purpose nipple ointment). You need to fill it at a compounding pharmacy. It is WAY better than any nipple cream you can buy in store. Fill it before baby is even born and have it standing by from day one. It’s amazing and heals cracked and bleeding nipples so quickly.

  • @ntmn8444

    Wow, lots of people complaining about prices here. Good products cost money. But there’s always second hand. Whatever you do, make sure you’ve researched the items you’re buying. Don’t just buy the cheapest thing just because it’s cheap. What’s cheap now may be more expensive down the road. Make sure the items you pick don’t have too many recalls and are easy for you to use. That’s it.

    Love you Sharrah, but I can’t see past all the unsafe sleeping advice. None of those baby loungers are meant for sleep. Babies have died in those, and that’s why influencers need to be so careful about recommending them to new parents and specify that those are LOUNGERS that must be used for awake time only.

    • @ang_131
      @ang_131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agreed. I hate it when the dockatot is recommended in these lists. They’re fine if you just need a spot to plop baby during the day and you don’t want them rolling away, but they’re definitely not for sleeping. I follow and support the safe sleep ABCs: alone, on their back, in their own crib or bassinet.

      True and I am concerned about anything called "vegan leather' as well, since these manufactured products almost always contain toxins that are not good for babies or for any of us actually.

    • @Weatheredstorms1
      @Weatheredstorms1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Second hand is a bad idea for some baby items like car seats. The store cannot guarantee the safety of the seat (it’s also illegal to sell used car seats) if it was used. They don’t know if it was in a car accident. Once a car seat has been in an accident it can no longer be used. Car seats have expiration dates as well. To find a great travel system you don’t have to go and spend a 1,000 if it’s not in the budget. Although I agree with the Uppa because it can become so many different strollers in one. There’s also a stroller company called Mockingbird that’s just like the Uppa baby vista at a fraction of the price. They even sell them at target for $399. The attachements etc are all similar to Uppa and also come at a fraction of the price.

    I just want to say while things on this list are expensive, and I cannot afford all of them, this video was very helpful. There are a few items I want to splurge on for baby, like the crib and I didn’t know which crib she was using until this video! And this crib definitely seems to be perfect for me! There are definitely other items that I will be buying a cheaper version of, but there are people that have as much money to spend as she does and I’m sure they also find this video very helpful. So just want to thank Sharrah for making this. I’m not really one to comment but don’t want her to just get negative comments and not make a similar video in the future. Really great informative video and thanks so much for all the links and explaining why you liked/disliked certain items! ❤️

    Many many lactation consultants don’t recommend the elvie pump. The pump doesn’t do a good job at extracting . If you must get a Wearable pump they say go for the willow.
    A better option for a portable pump is a baby buda pump or pumpables pump with collection cups that u stick into your pumping or nursing bra.
    Also, if the flange (part that houses the nipple) fit isn’t good then you won’t be extracting milk well and that could lead to Mastitis.
    There is so so much that goes into pumping….

    • @ntmn8444
      @ntmn8444 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That really depends. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the Elvie and the Willow, and based on the mixed reviews, I chose to go with the Elvie.
      Also, what lactation consultants say is to use a main pump, like a spectra or medela in addition to the wearable pump, not to avoid the wearable pump altogether. Someone like me, with what I do, I absolutely can’t have a traditional portable pump. They’re not discreet enough, and they have too many wires. The Elvie and even the Willow are great because you can literally hide it under your clothes and no one would know any better. It really does depend on the person and their situation.

    For baby cameras, we’ve used a Wyze security camera, the 360 is the best because you can move it around and see the whole room (necessary after your toddler is no longer confined to her crib). I love that it’s useful even after we stop spying on our kids. It’s also nice to have it accessible via an app on all our devices. And I love that it saves footage on an SD card so we can look back at what happened if we need to.

  • @SamanthaSteMarie

    I had a baby ten months ago and have to say that a lot of this stuff is NOT needed OR there are more cost efficient options. A lot of these items are amazing quality but just a disclaimer that you there are other options that are just as good but not as expensive.
    Examples: HelloBello diapers are hella expensive. If you have access to Costco… get the Kirkland brand! It’s around $40 for 222 diapers.
    At the end of the day, you don’t need. $1200 stroller, a $350+ crib mattress, etc.
    You can get everything you need for a fraction of what this video talks about. If I didn’t know any better, this video would give me serioussssss anxiety!!

    Third baby and most of these items I didn’t purchase with my first or second mainly because I was a stay at home mom and had support -extra hands to hold baby means less contraptions and gadgets. Now as a single working mom of two toddlers and baby on the way I am definitely splurging on these because 1. They are beautiful and make me happy which for your mental health can seriously be helpful and 2. With other littles and basically zero support I want to know that I have every available resource to me! Yes that means I’ve had to stop ordering takeout and getting my nails done but I’m on minimum wage and almost finished purchasing every item I wanted without going in to any debt. It can be done and you don’t have to be rich to have and enjoy your kids.

    I’m pregnant again too. My babe is 15 months. Kindred pregnancies. I agree in sentiment with many of these recommendations but we went major budget-friendly, buying as much secondhand as possible. I agree with everything you said about the halo swaddle but remember every baby is different. My first born loved them and used one ever night to sleep. Second born, woke up wailing in the middle of the night and would not stop until I took it off. He would sweat so much in them it looked like he’d come out of the shower. Do cotton instead of fleece if possible it’ll help prevent your baby from sweating especially if baby is like my second born (overheats easily).

    • @ang_131
      @ang_131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I loved the halo with my first for about a week. I hated how loud the Velcro was in the middle of the night. I ultimately used the muslin swaddles with both my babies. They do take some practice to get a tight swaddle, but once you know what to do, they’re golden.

Also your baby needs plain water once in a while...not full bottles of water just some water. You buy them once just like you buy a good mattress. Cheap products turn out more expensive in the long run. I think spending 1K for most needed good baby stuff is not "that crazy expensive" but could be just me.

    Did anyone ask where her cup was from? It’s a nice size for postpartum hydration and I’m looking for a good one

      That’s a Stanley, all the influencers have it lol. A more budget friendly version is the reduce brand. Found on amazon or your local grocery store.

    Interesting baby likes 🤗.
    I didn't get on with the electronic pump.. It reminded me of milking a cow.. Hated it. I had a hand pump and it took me 10mins to pump of my milk.. Often, once I had underpressure I didn't need to pump much.. It just flowed (once I got my head around pumping in general, because it's mind over matter).
    We use baby sleeping bags.

      @Victoria G totally agree👍, the hand pump is totally underrated.. I used Avent.. Now Philips Avent hand pump..it was super... Small, light, easy to clean and I could walk around and pump silently while reading a book or watching TV while my babies slept 😊.

      Sleep sacks are the best once baby starts to roll and can’t be swaddled anymore!

      @@ang_131 where I live we use newborn sleeping sacks, with thin innerer sacks and an outside thicker sack. You can put the babies arms inside the arm openings of the outer sack to keep them from flying around (so it's like being swaddled) .. But the baby can take them out and stretch them if it wants eg usually when it starts to wake for a feed... So they are great from birth! Both my kids loved their sacks.

    My last child was 31 years ago. I’m glad she didn’t push those wrap around things to keep the kids strapped to you 24/7. Mother’s today seem to never put their kids down. The kids need to use use muscles, and explore, and learn a healthy separation from their parent. A child can’t move their arms snd legs when they’re attached to their moms till their 7 or 8 months old. Sharrah encouraged your child to explore, move and build their curiosity. I’m not understanding this child to parent attachment via wraparound. It seems unhealthy past newborn stage.
    The new mattress is amazing. That’s something I wish we’d had.

      Agree that floor time is always the better option for when baby is awake, but baby wearing has its place especially because some babies just want to contact nap and baby wearing let’s mom do that hands free.
