    Lovely shots of the vintage toys. A really special vibe.
    Thanks for the nice review of the Minitar lens. Interesting look and a really nice, compact setup.

    That lens looks great! Love the shot at 3:20 with the buildings disappearing into the clouds. I also still adore the toy shots; they're fantastic.

      Thanks Alex! Yeah those disappearing buildings were so cool, had to take the shot!

    Wow I checked the lomography magazine now. It is great and so cool!!
    I really love the 2nd photo in this magazine. I wish if I could capture the scene like you.
    Glad to hear your doing good!

    A nice review. It is a fun lens and could see you captured some great images. I have not used it, but I do own the Brightin Star 28mm f2.8 and which has a similar characteristics and fun factor. Keep the videos coming!

      @RoubenDickranian-e5d thank you for the kind comment! Yes, I've been tempted to get that Brightin Star (or that very similar Japanese lens) several times and had to remind myself I already own this one 😅

      @@PhilKnall Great! I own a couple of the MS-Optics lenses and they are interesting lenses to say the least. The lens I use a lot is the MS-Optics Sonnetar 50mm 1.3 "Slim" and yeah it produces quirky photographs and the construction initially is questionable -- however after owning and using them they are actually solidly built. But you should see what images they produce... have a great day.

    Hello from Instagram !
    Really interesting setup, it is unbelievable how compact that lens is.
    I would have loved to see more footage in between shots in the first part, but I guess it was because it was raining! Looking forward to seeing more videos !

    • @PhilKnall

      Yes absolutely... I felt bad while editing it, but it was really miserable outside and i didn't want to stay any longer 🥲 next time! And thank you!

    Definitely like how compact the set up is with that minitar lens. Very interesting shots too. I do like that light vignette in the pictures too it definitely compliments the picture. I recently shot some lomography 100 35mm film. I actually liked it. Seeing your shots with the lomography 800. Makes me want to try it too. Thanks looking forward for more of your videos

      I agree with all of your statements! By the way Lomo 400 is also one of my favorite films, punchier than many with a really nice palette.

    Thank I for your review. Is the focusing estimated on the focus tab or can you use the rangefinder patch?😊

    • @PhilKnall
      @PhilKnall  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It couples with the rangefinder! I'm not great at zone focus so that would be an issue for me

    Been looking for that big toy store with the 鳥居 in Broadway in September... Could not find it for the life of me... Hope they didn't close permanently.

      The website is still updated as of November so it should be there! It's on the top floor above the entrance. I've definitely gotten lost in that place before too...

      The company is called Mandarake, they have stores in other Japanese cities and a website. Probably the best known for retro toys.

      @@michaelmettler5831 Yeah, really well made! The only thing is you have to take it completely off to load/remove film. To be expected, of course.

  • @DRGBTL23

    Did you notice any issues with focus not being properly calibrated and being slightly off?

    • @PhilKnall
      @PhilKnall  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When using the range finder it's fine, however the scale on the lens itself seems to be off. It focuses past infinity. I did accidentally unscrew the lens element once, not sure if that affected anything.

  • @rickytrix

      @rickytrix 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @PhilKnall
      @PhilKnall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you do have to take into account that this was 35mm film and his is a crazy powerful Sony camera. They're probably behaving a tad different. Also lab scans tend to be cropped in a tad so there might be some edge flaws that i didn't get. But i think it performed just fine!

      @EdwardConde 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah this is now built in China completely... I had the original copy (lost it, long story) and got this when they brought it back. I find this copy slightly sharper but overall the same... sharper around 5.6+

    what would you say to be the fav aperture on this lens

    • @PhilKnall
      @PhilKnall  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel it's best suited for street shooting so i like around 8 the best. At the wide open ones it does vignette a bit.
