+ThatPyotr I think the only lens missing from the E-mount are the super telephotos....otherwise Zeiss, Sony, Samyang, Tamron and Sigma has more than enough to offer.
The lever focusing system with the stops on .8m, 1.5m, 3.0m, and infinity on the Lomo LC-A is brilliant. Never really was a fan of the lomography thing, but the LC-A is brilliant for street photography, if you're not anal about sharpness. Getting the composition you want will always trump a little blurriness. "Sharpness is a bourgeoise concept" -some french guy
Might want to clean your sensor! at about 4:10 in there is a clear dust spot in the top left that pops out. (i get that Lomo shooters won't care, but its obvious to me)
+TecnoS samyang samyang 85mm f1.4 samyang 14mm f2.8 nikon 50mm f1.8G canon 50mm f1.8 for 50$ more you can get nikon 50mm f1.4G (od get older 50mm 1.4D cheaper) And that's all instantly if you search more you can get a lot more lenses. And all these are amazing :P
+Lars Hausler There is no such thing as "lomographers". They are just spoiled little dicks that wanted an way to expensive piece of crap plastic from mom and dad to make crap photo's with. And while doing that they act all arty and "different". They make photography look like shit and they give it a bad name.
Really Rather Good, that you walk past around 2:57 is a great place for lunch - great sandwiches, coffee and their chocolate and Guinness cake is to die for!
Haha, the end reminds me of this guy I knew who took apart his digital camera because he wanted to fix the dust in the lens. He never figured out how to piece it back together
Looks like fun. I get it. I have a LCA and I have took some photos I have really cherished with it. However film and cross processing is what helps with that "look" not just the lens.... Also 350$ is way too much.
Which is also overpriced. You can get an actual working 1800s era one off ebay for way less, or just get a Helios 44-2 which has the same effect for even more way less.
this guy usually brings an uncalled-for level of smugness & a bilious temperament to the reviews, but for once the product is deserving of it. ya done good son.
Olympus Pen-F review please. $1,200 Pen camera, that's a lot of $, it's more then the em5 m2, is that 20mp sensor worth the cost, does this Pen stand up to the Panasonic GX8 @ the same price?
Thank a lot for your amazing videos. Can you please do a video comparing both canon 80mm f\1.2 vs canon 50mm f\1.2 as which one is a better portrait lens.
Thank you Kai for telling me that the lens is rangefinder-coupled. I haven't come across this information anywhere!! But, that's just stupid. Why make it rangefinder-coupled and add to the cost, when the whole point of this lens/camera is to guesstimate the focus distance??!! I sold my LC-A+ a while back because the lens developed an annoying problem of consistently blurring the entire left side of the photo (I don't know what caused it). But I've since always wanted to have an LC-A+ back. The none + isn't as good, because the aperture control can potentially get in the way. But the + is just too bloody expensive to buy again. The closest thing I've got now is the Olympus XA and XA2 (I have them both). But they're just not quite the same, handling-wise. I really love that guesstimate focus lever. Should I painfully fork out the ridiculous amount of money, and forget about the stupid rangefinder-coupling and get this lens?
Bury St. Edmunds. I used to live just outside Ipswich 15 years ago. Small world and all very ironic now that you are prisoner back in your Empire era "Home Land" and I abandoned it for the "New World".
I just make my own by smearing vaseline all over the lens and wrapping it in saran wrap. And then letting a 5 year old on a sugar high take all my pictures for me.
the main reason film is slowly going to a halt is because it's too dam expensive. i have a film camera but I have to take a great shot with it to use one of my films
I think of this review as of hugely unfair enterprise. Who've put all that "no rules" routine into Kai's head, I don't know, but most amazing lomo shooters I know are quite premeditative, inventive and their work looks nothing like a random walk with shooting everything in sight. Also, this lens sucks. :)
Is Kai ever going back to Hong Kong? Why did he leave? While still good, these videos aren't as much fun to watch anymore that Kai and Lok are on different continents and Alamby has moved on.
If you ever see one of these in use, you have pinpointed something potentially valuable. Someone with more money than sense. It's up to your own conscience how you use/abuse this knowledge.
Nope
+555 Gear ohh hi :D
yup
Sony fanboys be like
"It can adapt this to a7 so the a7 has more lens options"
+ThatPyotr ha
Lol, but their is a lot of Samyang manual lenes for Sony E
+ThatPyotr I think the only lens missing from the E-mount are the super telephotos....otherwise Zeiss, Sony, Samyang, Tamron and Sigma has more than enough to offer.
+ThatPyotr canon fanboys be like "maybe we'll get that in a year...... or 3"
buying this lens is like buying ripped jeans...you are paying for something already broken...
+JayVan Geli there are a lot of people in the UK buying ripped jeans.

350 $ for this shitty quality thing? if i had 350 to spend in lenses i would buy some serious quality
for that mk money I'd buy the Oly 25mm 1.8..yeap I'm on MFT
+JayVan Geli So many great MFT lenses for the same price. Just doesn't make sense. $50 maybe $100 and it would be rad.
Samyang 85mm 1.4
+TecnoS samyang samyang 85mm f1.4
samyang 14mm f2.8
nikon 50mm f1.8G
canon 50mm f1.8

+Blago Šaravanja The canon 1.8 is 120, the Canon 50mm 1.4 is 350
Kai, the highlights are blown!
At first I was immensely impressed that Kai can repair the camera... until well, it turned out he can't.
The photo of the dood in the cool hat was excellent!
6:57 Nice Speedmaster! Kai is clearly a watch enthusiast.
let's see if there's a new wave of lomographers
probably
+Lars Hausler

Damn that looks like a fun. Great episode Kai!
It's a fun idea but the price is crazy.
Over priced yeah, i watch to buy it for fun but maybe this fun is too expensive
Yeah well hipsters are usually deluded out of touch suburbanites and citydwellers who waste money on apple products and pretentious things.
Haha, the end reminds me of this guy I knew who took apart his digital camera because he wanted to fix the dust in the lens. He never figured out how to piece it back together
Kai is now officially a Sony A7/R/S fan boy.
My M10 seems to give me less Lomo effect, did you do any of the sonys setting?
The amount of release forms these guys must fill out oh my
Did you use any front filter on this lens? how did you manage to create black and white photo? is it photoshoped?
Hong Kong markets are better than England markets by a long way.
+niels241 He just lives in a rather mundane part of England. He needs to go to a big city.
+TalesOfWar That's very true. London would be way better.
Are there any Lomo lenses for normal dslr like the t3i out? Please Respond!
Didn't Olympus already make such a lens system? The body cap 9mm and 15mm.
kai must be into his watchs he was wearing a panerai luminor in previous vids now hes wearing a omega speedmaster by the looks of it
Much better than the previous one on bags.
Looks like fun. I get it. I have a LCA and I have took some photos I have really cherished with it. However film and cross processing is what helps with that "look" not just the lens.... Also 350$ is way too much.
I was so confident that you knew what to do and was going to be successful. I remembered this is DRTV so I'm happy to see that you don't.
this lens isn't the first one they have made for digital cameras. you do have the petzval and the russar lens as well.
Which is also overpriced. You can get an actual working 1800s era one off ebay for way less, or just get a Helios 44-2 which has the same effect for even more way less.
this guy usually brings an uncalled-for level of smugness & a bilious temperament to the reviews, but for once the product is deserving of it.
ya done good son.
what video editing program do you use digitalrev TV???
really rather good video (and nice coffee too)!
Will you please review The LensBaby 56mm 1.6?
why are you still using the first a7 pleeeeease :P
+Adrian Miller yeah, right, the new one is going to make a lot of difference with that lens on...
+Adrian Miller Because the new ones are better than Canon and he cannot stand such shame. ;-P
I find it very funny that these are the best pictures Kai has ever taken...
Olympus Pen-F review please. $1,200 Pen camera, that's a lot of $, it's more then the em5 m2, is that 20mp sensor worth the cost, does this Pen stand up to the Panasonic GX8 @ the same price?
Olympus 15mm lens in a cap is just as fun, and a fraction of the price, for micro 4/3. This LOMO stuff is too expensive.
whats the intro song?
Great vid keep up the good work 😊
Is the 50mm 1.8 good with the canon 700d? Also is it good for low light such as indoor music events?
It's perfect
Lofi photography with Hifi photography is Lomography's thing. The Diana does take medium format film, after all.
There's a large overlap between the kind of people that buy Leica these days and the people who buy overpriced lomography branded stuff.
Cool review. I actually kind of like the effect. It's different. You can be intentional about its effects and create a set of work from it.
Jonathan Desmond,
It’s too much, so ugly too.
Well for that sort of money I'd get the fuji 35mm f2.0 and if I wanted to get the lomo effect I could still do that in post.
+rakkkar Indeed. Just set up a "make it look like you smeared shit over the lens" preset.
That price.... you could buy a Holga lens and adapter plus a Diana adapter and every Diana lens combined for less than that price.
lomography really has some amazing stuff out there!
but somehow for me it will always stay a gimmick and i cant convince myself buying them
Thank a lot for your amazing videos.
Can you please do a video comparing both canon 80mm f\1.2 vs canon 50mm f\1.2 as which one is a better portrait lens.
50mm isn't really a lens normally used for portraits, you want more like 70mm anyway
Can you guys review some Samyang lenses? Specifically the 14mm f2.8
There's nothing that I dislike more than lomos
Thank you Kai for telling me that the lens is rangefinder-coupled. I haven't come across this information anywhere!! But, that's just stupid. How much? You took the piss out of Olympus with their 15mm pancake (aka 'The Worst Lens in the World') that is 20% of the price of that hipster shite.
Hey Kai while ur in Bury St.Edmunds you should try going to Byrons burgers. Their in the arc. Best burgers in bury ;)
LC-A was the best film camera for me, I've had one
Great! finally a lens made for me! #hipster
Bury St. Edmunds. I used to live just outside Ipswich 15 years ago. Small world and all very ironic now that you are prisoner back in your Empire era "Home Land" and I abandoned it for the "New World".
Lomo t43!!! Very good!)
Kai i've a question. why do you use a sony a7 ii whatever. you supposed to be a sony hater.
Hipsters are gonna Hip :)
They already made micro 4/3 lenses
Do a review on the Canon EOS 750D please! Thanks Kai
All my cameras are Pentax. Guess what mount Lomo just flat out doesn't make lenses for? The K-mount.
can't you just stay and take a good picture?!?
+Fayzann Tariq Yessir, that is called photography! :) Apparently, however, this video was about lomography,
Anyone wondering how kai broke the camera?
+ThatPyotr Probably dropped it like everything else. He's super clumsy
A7??? talk about hipster
KAI I LOVE YOU
i dont use lomo, but it has it's own "thing" that says "use meeee. use meeee"
same thing happened with my Fisheye 2 from Lomo, broke on the first roll.
Kai is officially back. You smell those delicious cracks and electric shock?
How much?
I just make my own by smearing vaseline all over the lens and wrapping it in saran wrap.
And then letting a 5 year old on a sugar high take all my pictures for me.
Thank you will try this
How I can send you a private e mail?
Costly! That's 17000 rupees! Well, Lightroom with plugins can do similar effects, even better!
Loosing your lens cap and scratching up the lens will only add to the lomography style lol
new jupiter-3 1.5/50 ?Hard russian lens, analog CZ biotar 1.5/50
the main reason film is slowly going to a halt is because it's too dam expensive. i have a film camera but I have to take a great shot with it to use one of my films
+coolman007ize It's like vinyl. They're charging silly amounts because they have a captive market.
Might as well get an old camera flip phone
6:32 Santa Claus went shopping
What sucker pays that kind of money for a toy lens? Well, I guess to Leica users an extra zero at the end of the price tag is business as usual.
so they're basically selling a lens that makes your high end camera look like a cell phone photo.
at last kai is back in Hong Kong
I think of this review as of hugely unfair enterprise. Who've put all that "no rules" routine into Kai's head, I don't know, but most amazing lomo shooters I know are quite premeditative, inventive and their work looks nothing like a random walk with shooting everything in sight.
Also, this lens sucks. :)
Just buy Pentax 110 lenses and an adapter! They work great on Mirrorless and are mega cheap!
Is Kai ever going back to Hong Kong? Why did he leave? While still good, these videos aren't as much fun to watch anymore that Kai and Lok are on different continents and Alamby has moved on.
Screw-in tiny cap is just like Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited =) (I still have mine!)
What's that song nameee? :C
Darude - Sandstorm
alva christo
Kinda old joke. :(
like for Kay's red nose
No intro?
It's basically the same lens that's in my old plastic Smena. I bought that for £5..
proppppper not feeling this being in England now...
This review is lacking, but it is spot on - you need 2 to do anything reaaly 360
I fix everything this way ;) The best method.
Waiting for D5 review
If you ever see one of these in use, you have pinpointed something potentially valuable. Someone with more money than sense. It's up to your own conscience how you use/abuse this knowledge.
People who complain about the price are just plebs who do not know art if it hit them in the face.
You are not a smart one, are you ? xD
Street photography in England is so boring compared to Hong Kong 😂
buy a cheap filter and paint the corners with a black pen or w/e same effect xD
results from the original Lomo LCA are much better, less dark, less vignetting
Эй, эй!!! Хочу увидеть тест 28мм. объективов от основных брендов!!!
sustitulos en español porfavor
too bad, the original Russian LCA is a lot of fun and can render some very unique smooth bokeh
Same BS as the Petzval Portrait lens which was btw. designed by Josef Maximilan Petzval and constructed first by Voigtländer 1840! in Austria.
I've actually found pretty similar results when mounting the crop sensor SEL16f28 on a full frame a7ii.
Well, you could for once get off the typical bandwagon and start shooting horizontally. Though every shot is a bit of a waste :)
