@@PhilKnall Great! I own a couple of the MS-Optics lenses and they are interesting lenses to say the least. The lens I use a lot is the MS-Optics Sonnetar 50mm 1.3 "Slim" and yeah it produces quirky photographs and the construction initially is questionable -- however after owning and using them they are actually solidly built. But you should see what images they produce... have a great day.

@@industryrule-4080 theoretically you should be able to do that! I always have to, but I do store it vertically and don't particularly take care to not move the lens so it's usually out of focus. As long as the lens doesn't move it will be the same every time.

@@viper3391 when you consider what a professional scanner costs, it really does make sense doesn't it. and if you happen to upgrade your digital camera, you'll automatically upgrade your scanner too.

It’s expensive but for what it’s worth it’s competitive or cheaper than a full kit from Negative Supply.

@@PhilKnall I'm more rationalizing materials and build quality, I wasn't making a comparison to other solutions, other solutions can be overpriced for what you are getting too. Realize with 500 dollars you can purchase a digital camera, with considerable R&D, a microprocessor, with millions of transistors, a sensor with millions of pixels, a shutter tuned to near mechanical perfection, in contrast Valoi gives you a black box with a light and some extension tubes attached, for the same price. I get its convenient and it works for you, but willing to overpay for things just leads you and the rest of us to be taken advantage of in the future. In reality that whole setup is probably made in China for less than a thirtieth the MSRP.

I don't think comparing it with a $500 digital camera (that's very low end for that category, too) makes any sense, unless you're trying to convince me shooting film isn't worth it... And $500 digital cameras are surely using off the shelf parts that have been used in other cameras before them. The new part, like casings and design, are, just like you said, made in china very cheaply. Cameras with newly developed parts are much more expensive, for example my a7cii (which is a midrange model) currently costs over 2000USD. (and people are calling even that a recycled parts camera...) Sure the price is high, which is exactly why I pointed it out. If you have the capability to make the box with the extension tubes (they are matte anodized metal by the way), the light source, and the step up/down rings yourself, and have a good light source for it, surely that would make sense for you. I hate capitalism as much as the next guy, but I'm not capable of reproducing this without any cost, and within 50 rolls lab scans would cost just as much.

@TheWutangclan1995 Yeah the Negative Supply stuff looks nice quality but is pretty up there too.

Thank you! I was conflicted about the 35 too, but I'm keeping mine. It's so much more compact, and reconfiguring the extension tubes everytime is a hassle I feel. Hope you get yours soon!

@@PhilKnallTrue Easy35 is a looot more compact. May I ask if you’ve personally encountered any situation where you would bring your Easy35 with you on a trip? I guess you’d still have to develop your film somewhere, but even so, being able to scan your developed rolls on the go sounds like an interesting concept 😄

I haven't but I'm waiting for a long enough trip where I would! There's absolutely no reason not to bring it. The macro lens is a bit of additional weight to bring, of course, but apart from that it would be a great solution to have your photos even before you go back home!

@@fanikurti2420 hi, I didn't notice any major issues, but when I tried it on a MacBook it was not recognized and I had to reformat the SSD. On my windows machines it was fine... Unfortunately I don't have the surface pro anymore so cannot do any additional tests...

True! It's more the bulk that makes it feel heavier I think. They're both wonderful cameras but purely from an engineering standpoint the 6 is so amazing. Great great camera.

I understand why you think so but multiple cameras use this system and none mention having to readjust the RF, so I think it's fine. The mask is really really thin so I don't think it's an issue. As you can see in my video there's definitely some other issues with it though 😅

@@marclucia9532 I didn't alter them, just looked for ones that are A4 and have the proper perforation. There's a few types here in Japan that fit, unfortunately I don't know if they exist overseas.

There's a few limitations for 4k on this particular model, but for it's possible. see this article on the Sony website: helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2020/v1/en/contents/TP1000154353.html Gerald Undone also did a few helpful videos on the settings. Unfortunately I don't have the original a7c anymore so can't double check...

I unfortunately don't have the camera anymore as I mentioned but I do believe it can write 4k while doing this, and it can output the camera info (assuming you mean the menu stuff) but it will blackout the camera screen while it's doing. Might be well digging trough Gerald Undone's videos at the time as he did some about the limitations of the output on this generation of camera.

@@PhilKnall yeah i'd imagine the focus would be a lot more challenging but also the character of the lens would be way more emphatic.

You probably could! That's the beauty of these old cameras where everything is mechanical and no failsafes. Just make sure to choose the smoothest kind available, as it will be in contact with the more sensitive emulsion side of the film.

@@BrianCatalano thanks! It's really serving me well so far, and for the price it's unbeatable I think. Still not quite used to MacOS, especially considering my 9-5 laptop is still a windows machine... I wish I could replace finder with explorer 😂
