Very nice! Love the camera but the only knocks I’ll give it are the 15min record limit and exposure stepping
Yeah great camera but that record limit is straight up terrible.
The 15 min limit may be a no go for some. However, how often does a vlogger do a single take that's 15 min long or longer? I've often wondered that as most vlogs you watch have edits between scenes that are much shorter than that. I'm not a vlogger so I really don't know.
I think most people (especially Fuji fans) could work around almost everything else with this camera, but the way the aperture jarringly steps the brightness up and down would be problematic. It was really noticeable when you were moving around in your back yard.

Multiple takes are done in a single rolling shot. The only time you'd stop is when you're done or when you need to make an adjustment.

Loved the XT30 when I had one on loan, would by default love this one as well.
XT200 got a better grip that's only pro
This would be a perfect camera apart from the overheating issue. 1080p 60fps will stop at 19mins and wont let you turn it on for a couple of minutes. Im using it indoor with a/c turned on. I also use an external dummy battery.
did a 4k test it recorded 35 mins with 15 limit stops after i just pressed record again and it recorded 35 mins with the overheat sign blinking after first 15 mins all shot indoors at 20 celsius temperature

But i dont know how to properly control it
It's a great stills camera, like almost all fujifilm cameras. But if video is the main concern, then Panasonic & Sony is the way to go. Honestly the 15min record limit won't bother most people just looking to get great photos. BTW you can get the eterna film simulation by a editing a RAW file in Capture One.
Literally the best review I have seen for this camera, all of the video quality shown from other reviews makes the camera look like shit basically, almost asif they can't edit or their showing the camera shooting in 720p...and claiming its 4k
You seem to show the camera how it is and honest..and actually decent samples that the camera is capable of! I like this!

Wondering the same thing. Trying to decide between the xt200 and m50 for vlogging and photography.
@@randomtoastlover definitely a hard decision. The factors that seem to be most differentiating between the two is the M50’s extra crop in 4k verses the 15 minute record limit of the xt200. Those might be deal breaker. I am also looking into the Sony A6100, it is more expensive but it might be the best all around entry level. 🤷♂️
@@nathanielferguson Having done a little more research, the overheating and preamp issues people have mentioned about the xt200 is the deal breaker for me. Canon M50 seems a lot more reliable and 4k doesn't seem too important for TH-cam (yet anyway). Looks like an ideal starter camera. A6100 looks awesome, just slightly out of my budget unfortunately 😔
@@randomtoastlover so I tried to order the x-t200 from B&H. It is backordered till April. I think you are correct, all of those issues put together plus shipping delays make Canon a better choice for US photographers.
@@nathanielferguson also don’t forget the the retarded choice of using only that primitive CDAF in 4K which will totally kill your shooting. Crap takes like 10 or more secs to focus in 4K even in comfortably well lit environment. Oh and also the 4K footage of this M50 is severely lacking.

Before you make the jump on this you should really look at the XT30 it’s literally an XT3 for $50 more than this camera. I have a couple of ATOMOS NINJA V’s so record limit isn’t an issue with the XT30.

Glad somebody got great audio on this thing, every video I’ve seen it was so horrible. Glad you got some great results with it.
I was going to say the same thing, like on Camera Conspiracies, the audio was horrid. It could be the mic he was using, but he always uses the same one. So I don't know. Maybe he didn't turn the gain down.
I have XT200, in my opinion the audio is great, with a little bit of editing it sound as if I'm using an external mic tho

Thanks for the review! The exposure changes at 6:51 are really harsh like on all Fuji cameras. Kind of makes video fundamentally useless despite all the fancy specs.

Hi, the xt200 or sony a6000 both with kit lens? For simple videography like family and small events. Most important for me video quality and low light performance

Yes, that's the ISO stepping. It's like that on all Fuji cameras unfortunately, even the X-T4.

Thank you very much for the review. I need a vlog and all round camera so i am still considering between X-T200 and EOS M6 Mark II. I will be supporting the vlogging experience with external mic and recorders eitherway. I will be using direct recording via hdmi (?) to pc while i am on my desk. I want to decide the brand because i want to share my lenses between cameras. My future cam may be X-T3 or X-T4 if i can find the budget :)
Why the iso in video doesn't go down after 400 ?? There will be problem in daylight, with large aperture lenses to shoot video !
What can you say about the overheating? And the auto focus compared with Canon?

yess you can hear the audio hiss, from the crappy pre-amps miles aways. how can this guy says it is fantastic!??!
When you were showing video emphasizing the regular stabilization the strange sudden fluxations in the light made the video sort of unusable. The stabilization to me didn't seem any better than the Panasonic G85.
It's actually way worse than the g85
Those fluctuations are the ISO stepping. It's the same on X-T30, X-T3 and X-T4. A shame since the specs are so good otherwise.

I can't comprehend how $800+ is considered budget.
There is a benchmark cost for having certain features. This is budget for what it offers. It does not have to be a budget "camera". There are budget "cars", but budget "sports cars" are different.
$800 is cheap! And anyway it is $699
That vlogging test had exposures changing all over the place. It was HORRIBLE. Can't believe you didn't note/notice that. VERY diistracting and unusable on Auto outside obviously.

Good question. I'd choose this one for the flippy and lens selection. The newer a6xxx like the 6400 or 6600 though would destroy this. Spec-wise the a6100 may win but this has other features I think I would enjoy.

I’ve had this camera for a couple months and the settings are so confusing. I’ll get it to where I like it and then I somehow change it and it never goes back😭 it’s amazing tho for a first time camera owner!

The ghosting around your head at 3:50 is horrible... The xt4 has the same problem. Maybe a firmware update will fix it...?

how do you compare this to the panasonic g85? for stills, occasional vlogging, landscape shots/video with travel and hiking? Size difference in hand?
At 7:24, look how bad the aperture stepping is. It snaps brighter and darker. It's pretty bad. It lacks smooth exposure transitions. Is this because Fuji lenses are designed for photos? Maybe video is an afterthought in lens design? Don't know. Because if this and the time limit, this camera will be DOA for many IMO. I just watched that section again and the exposure transitions are really terrible and distracting and is a video destroyer for any serious video work.

Do you mean 15 minutes on the card or once it hits 15 minutes consecutively recording it cuts off? Like if I were to shoot a bunch of small clips that add up to 15 minutes can I not shoot anymore. Or just can’t shoot 15 minutes straight

my camera is not on silent mode, using mech shutter, tried all modes... still not firing
make sure you turn off the Bright mode, i have issue like this before until i turn off the Bright mode on the menu, i hope its fix you problem reply me if it works :)

@@TheEverydayDad Maybe the exposure stepping could warrant a comparison video between brands? From what I understand it's something that's not as pronounced on Canon and Nikon, just Fuji? I've been looking for a mirrorless for a while now and I think I would've been terribly disappointed finding out about it after a purchase. It's almost never mentioned in reviews.

I really like your videos! You have very good contents and opinions about cameras, BUT your videos are always in the same settings.. it will be way more interesting to watch if you can go out of your backyard sometime and take a walk on your street with the camera!

I figured it out
Great cam but electric stabilization is not that great compared to ibis.
And not activated when shooting in 4k to bad.
They almost had the perfect cam for traveling.
I will stay with lumix a bit more
