A note of caution about these laser engravers/cutters - these are Class 4 lasers and while you're obviously not going to be looking into the laser itself (!) the reflections are still powerful enough to cause eye injury, especially if you are using on more reflective materials (metals etc). The glasses you get are likely not particularly high quality, and relies on you remembering to wear them. Also consider anyone else around (including pets like Arthur!) who can potentially be exposed to the laser light, particularly if they are viewing from a lower angle. These lasers should really be in an enclosure with an appropriate filtered viewing window, and an interlock that turns off the laser if opened.
I work with diode lasers in a research lab and we have a lot of safety mitigations and training around the safe use of lasers, so makes me worry about people being able to buy these and maybe not having the same awareness of the risks. All power tools are potentially risky of course, but that's usually more obvious 🙂

I'll pin this for others to see 👍
yeah I was going to look for some properly rated/certified glasses, do you have any recommendations?

Although I work with lasers, I'm an engineer not a laser scientist, so by no means and expert! There are quite a few factors to consider when specifying suitable laser glasses, such as being appropriate for the wavelength of the laser you're using and how much visible light is absorbed. Of course if you can't see through them very well then that's a risk itself! 😁 Certainly worth doing some research into it though.

Have just finished watching all your videos. Took me a few months, but enjoyed seeing your progress from over the past few years. What an experience you've had / having! Keep up the hard work; it'll be worth it in the end!!! Cheers

I reckon so yeah, I think I'd have to use a grid and desktop software though. It's 400x400 so could probably do 32 a time maybe 🤔

I said in the video what I was going to do, I moved the screw from one hole to the other on the right hand side so the switch would be activated on the left

*ANOTHER* video where the machine's capabilities are PHQUED up by the user NOT using the a honeycomb mat. ANYONE who does not know about this most basic requirement for PROPER cutting, should not be making any "reviews".... Scheeese....

Blame the manufacturer, they sent it to me for free to review 😉

@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECTEvidently, for today's generation, there is a missing attribute, it it called PRIDE. Not being boastful, but, doing, producing the BEST you can, especially when something is given you to show other people the capabilities and features of a product. Maybe the manufacturer just sends this $hit out to anyone and everyone, no matter if they know anything about the item or not. IF I received an item for review and was not knowledgeable on HOW to best use it, I would certainly want to produce a video that DID illustrate the BEST of the item, and I would research what was also needed for proper operation of that item. OH, you sent me a laser cutter, lets see, AFTER a bit of study I would find that a honeycomb bed will help me make a good video and I won't look like a DUMB-ASS with making silly mistakes. You did show the laser cutter, but, you did not provide a accurate display of how well it works....

@@ainttakenanyshit I asked them for one but they wouldn't give it to me. So, I did the best video I could as a complete beginner with this type of product. When you're effectively working for free then you simply don't have time to go to the lengths you say you would. I'm supposed to be building my house, not spending 3 weeks learning how to use a product and buying additional products in order to demonstrate it. This was just abit of fun. Chill out 😎
