As for the drawers with false fronts. use the false fronts to store your 4 favorite cookbooks in. They'll always be right to hand, and it should look a bit homey. You might want to rethink replacing the wire shelving in the pantry with the solid wood. As I was watching it occurred to me that if that’s solid, you won’t be able to see through it like you can now and you’re ALWAYS going to have to grab a ladder when you want to look up there for something. This way you can see through the shelves into your glass jars and go right to it instead of dragging your ladder along the length to find what you need…

Having recently moved into a new kitchen myself, your plan should be to find good homes for everything FOR NOW. As you work in your new space, you will learn how you utilize it, you will find the homes that work best for you. And don't be afraid to rearrange things multiple times. It may seem like a pain now, but you will end up with a space that is very functional FOR YOU. As for the glass front drawers, how about placing one of your favorite/prettiest/most used cookbooks in each? Love the new place and am so happy for you and Josh!

@@ngaiosbrain Sorry if I wasn't clear, haha. I mean actually make labels out of painter's tape and put them on your cupboards, shelves and drawers. On the outside, where you can see them, of what you've put inside. Often the first try at arranging things doesn't quite work, so this was a way for me to move things about a bit until it felt like everything was in the right place. Plus, when my kids were younger, I kept the labels up for a while (maybe a month?) so they could figure out where everything was in our new kitchen 😃

No idea if this is good timing to suggest but will anyway.
Trash can under sink: Could it be either on a roll out shelf as well or even do a new door that you can open with a foot touch instead of hands?
Sinks: Not seeing it yet but maybe kitchen and downstairs garden kitchen could have a sink with foot pedals as well....?
Microwave area: Cut that whole tumor away and make it what you want. I mean we all know Josh can definitely make that area better with no sweat.
Pantry: Maybe mount a pull down shade (something nice not basic) for shelving where vinegar is
Can the boxes slide on a blanket where they're going so you don't have to carry?
Along with so many want to add affirmation to you that you're doing very well with this multiple plate spinning situation. You have a lot to be proud of in your work life.

Hi Becky!! So...the best thing I ever did with my tupperware/snap containers is I store each one with the lid ON. Solves the following:
    1. They stay together.
    2. The inside of the containers remain dust-free.
    3. No guessing on what lids fit.
    4. They stack and stay neat!

    • @lisawallace3124

seems to me they would take up a lot more space that way? I just bought a bunch of lock & lock that are all the same size. (seriously, like 40 of the same container) They stack perfectly, all the lids fit all the containers, they happen to fit perfectly in my work lunch bag, and since they are rectangular (as opposed to round) they fit better in the fridge!

Hello. I would like to give a couple of suggestions:
    - You could use some of the moving boxes' cardboard to lie on top of the wire shelf. It would protect them from getting dirty and it would give you a more stable base to place items on top of. Since you are planing on renovating the kitchen this could be a temporary option bu if you would like to have a more durable solution you could try wood or other materials.
    - You could put some cooking book in those display areas of the drawers. I don't know if they would fit but it's an option.
Hope any of these ideas would be of help.
Excuse me if I made any mistakes writing this, English is not my mother language.

i was totally gonna suggest putting paper or non-transparent foil into those fake drawer fronts, so you can use the little space without making it look cluttered. And then you suggested it yourself. I think they would be nice spaces for lids or maybe, if they fit width-wise, the smaller muffin tins, so you can reach the bigger ones more easily as well. Or, if it's possible, have the separator taken out so you get a bigger drawer altogether.
In any case, moving, especially kitchen items, can be super stressfull. I think you're doing a great job. Don't let it get you down if things feel overwhelming. Your ideas make so much sense and ultimately, it'll be a lovely kitchen! 💕

The molasses on the lower shelf brought back memories of when my son got his little hands on a bottle of maple syrup I had on a lower shelf. When I turned around and saw him in his little onesie pj's completely covered he started belly laughing, got up and proceeded to run through the house. Hard to believe that was 29 years ago. It was memorable 🤣

I am in my second trimester and finally feeling more like myself. The exhaustion and nausea from the first trimester is finally gone. I am finally getting caught up on cleaning around the house, this made me excited to go through my pantry and reorganize!

Same here - 18 weeks now and finally feeling like I can get stuff done/am alive again. I got so sick in my first trimester.

Maybe use holiday window clings on for the different holiday's on the glass front of the drawers

Window Film for those glass front cabinet drawers - I agree with what you said and many others did as well. There are some very pretty stain glass looking ones and/or some simple frosted versions as well. But that space once the glass is covered you might be able to us to put things like boxes of foil, ziplocks, waxed paper, parchment. Etc as they are typically narrow boxes.

I have snapware too and I store them with the lids on - it does take up a bit more space but I think you have the space in your drawer! Makes it easy to grab what you need without hunting for the lid.

Great video, I'd get a blind for that pantry window to protect items from the light and heat.

For the false drawer fronts: Since a baby is coming, maybe paint the glass with chalkboard paint for baby to doodle on with chalk in the future, and to store sippy cups, play food toys, baby spoons and other baby items that you'll find you will enjoy baby being able to get to when they begin to toddle.

I love watching your videos! You’re inspirational and you always make me smile. I’ve been following you since you had 60k subscribers and I talk about your channel often. I know one reason I enjoy you and your channel is I live in Hillsboro, Oregon. It’s fun seeing a neighbor on TH-cam!

Hey Becky, I've been loving watching your videos. I'm looking to buy my first house this year/early next and your videos are very helpful. Just an idea, maybe display your good napkins/rings in the glass display drawers, that way there isn't any wasted space and you can use the current drawer for something else? A question I've been thinking about is what is the plan to move the chickens/run up to the new house? I would be interested in seeing how you manage that, 😀

Love how you go through the thought process of how and why you're putting certain things in certain places. I can see the puzzle pieces coming together to make a beautiful picture 🙂. Have you considered placing some of your flowers from the garden (after they're preserved for use in your different projects) in the shadow box fronts to the quad of cabinets? Assuming that if they're sealed tight it shouldn't effect the other items in the cabinet. You could get another use out of the flowers as a decoration before they're made into something else.

Becky put your baking items into square containers Into those deep drawers in your island, they are perfect and I think meant to be used for these type of goods because I bet that station is where you will do the majority of prep and baking

When you replace those wire racks in your pantry with more solid wooden ones, consider putting one (attached to your cabinets) above your kitchen sink for draining dishes that cannot go into the dishwasher. We have that setup in our home, and it is a BOON! Great for keeping more clear space on the countertops.

Hi Becky! I love your new kitchen. I would use the glass front drawers for your baking supplies. I think the square containers would fit well, then I'd use the pull out drawer for baking/mixing bowls. Looking forward to more of your freezer meal videos, but please remember to take time to rest. Hugs from Florida

You made terrific progress! Things are coming along so nicely and you may find as you use the kitchen you’ll shift things around to accommodate how you end up working in the space.
Very happy for you and Josh as you turn this house into your home.

Usually if dogs are used to processed foods or treats it takes them a while to get used to food with less tastefull additives. It's the same with horses and also with people!(just think about weaning yourself off sugar in coffee for example!). This is such a healthy snack for them. Love it! ❤️
