  • Bachmann newly tooled class 37 diesel electric locomotives both in BR Green, one version with split headcode boxes, the other is a centre headcode version.
Supplied by Rails Of Sheffield, these new tooled models are very good indeed, I’m happy that Bachmann are now providing improved lighting functions on their recent releases including the ability to now individually control the cab lights and the red tail lights.
I’m also impressed with the working fan on the roof, however, in the case of these class 37’s, these fans rotate all of the time, unlike their class 47’s which rotate randomly.
I will be interested to see the difference between these Bachmann versions and the two Accurascale versions I currently have on preorder.

I have both but prefer the Bachmann version because it has a better selection of sounds and to me just looks better. Great video. Cheers Pete

I’ve been waiting years to get my hands on a centre headcode version of a class 37.
I missed out on Bachmann’s previous release of this.
I do believe that Accurascale are to release a centre headcode version in their next batch.

My BM Class 37 D6829 deluxe turned up today from RALLS - looks stunning with a light weathering - after the massive disapointment with my AS Class 37 (refunded) I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Tony - My goodness mate how many locos have you now got in your collection especially as you have two more on preorder.
Your going to need another building to display your fantastic collection. Must admit they both look lovely and the sounds are great.
Cannot remember when I last purchased a Steam Locomotive, Think it was September 2022.
    Regards Chris

      Hello Chris-
      I hope your doing okay?
Once I receive the two Accurascale class 37’s, my fleet will consist of six class 37’s in total.
Two of which are the 2015 Bachmann’s, both split headcode variants, one in plain green, the other has a small yellow warning panel.
Then there are these two ‘new tooled’ versions I received recently, one of these is once again a plain green version with split headcodes, the second is a centre headcode variant with small yellow warning panels.
The two Accurascale class 37’s on preorder are another centre headcode version with a small yellow warning panel, and a split headcode variant with a small yellow warning panel.
I must confess I really do adore the class 37, it’s such a beautiful looking machine.
Thankfully, some 37’s are still running around on the network, which is simply wonderful.
The last 37 I saw running past my signalling centre was about two years ago in a dark maroon livery, it looked and sounded absolutely fantastic, and is a testament to the durability of these machines.

Gota be honest, Bachmann version is a very fine model but Accurascale tops it.

      Hello formidable38
I currently have two Accurascale class 37’s on preorder, these being BR Green versions.
I’m so looking forward to receiving these too.
I must say, the Bachmann versions with their operating roof fans are a really nice touch though.

Hello Tony, New back to the hobby. Got a few Bachmann sound locomotives. All great models. All amazing great smooth runners.
Sadly both 37's are quite noisy (groaning and moaning noise from motors) gets really bad when more speed applied and with load (pulling 5 coaches) and on bends.
Obviously with sound on not as noticeable.
Sound isn't as nice as yours as both distort with vibrations through the body. One is worse than the other. If you press down and hold the sides (while on speed lock f7) it's OK.
Hoping to be able to reduce the volume, to see if that helps. As I only have a basic controller at the moment. Will have to wait.
Any suggestions to help me. Its such a shame as they are my favourite locos.
Some have suggested a better speaker ! But don't think this is necessary.
    Cheers Mike

      Hello Michael
Regarding your own class 37’s all I can suggest is for you to check to see if the bogie gear towers/drive shafts and the wheel bearings need lubricating.
Regarding distorted sounds, all I can suggest is perhaps lowering the sound volume a little and looking to see that the speaker is properly secured with no nearby wiring touching the speaker enclosure.
