Have a very merry Christmas dude, and a great new year. Hope all your plans work out. I've thoroughly enjoyed all your vids this year, despite the slightly sporadic releases!
My e90 had the low end radio. No tweets or amp. It was ok but not great. My f15 has the Harmon kardon. It's probably the best sounding factory radio I've ever had. Only thing I would change on it is a bit more bass. Good explanation without going into the audiophile complexity. Merry Christmas. You look to be doing well(things considered). I've been in the same place. It gets better but it takes time. Deal with it in your own way. There's no right or wrong.
While this sounds better than factory logic 7. I dont think it is the value proposition it is for the hifi cars. On top of that you would need to rewire and code your car differently to use it. It may be worth doing the subs over your subs (as they are the same that were in this wagon) but you may need addition power to the subs. Hopefully bimmertech will have thier logic7 solution out soon, where you can just direct replace with a decent upgrade.
Hey, thanks for the great content! I was trying to get the amplifier for E90 on their website, but it says it’s not compatible with E90… which one exactly have you used and could you share the link for it, please?
The issue will likely be what level of stereo you currently have. If you have the most based logic 7 system, the amp wont be able to connect to your CIC/CCC unit. The only works with the HIFI and Base systems. However contact them and get some advice on what you can do to get your setup working better.
@@ZeroTo60Tube thanks for the feedback! Yeah, they confirmed that they don’t have amp compatible with 677 system… Do you think that upgrading speakers only would worth it?
Hi mate merry xmas, love your videos. I have a m140 F20 with HK Stereo. Not sure if you know but Would u recommend / think the Amp at a minimum or possibly amp an sub would be a good step up on my set up? Jay
Im not too familiar with f series. As long you dont have the most amp, this amp will be a huge upgrade. If your amp is most (fibre optic) it wont currently work. Have you popped your vin in to the bimmertech website?
@@ZeroTo60Tube looks like I have the hifi HK system. I might just give the amp a go. How would u rate just upgrading the amp with HK speaker as overall improvement?
Merry Christmas Andrew all the best and wishing you also of success for next year. Question the alpha one system is it available for the e82 it sounds bloody fantastic, how do I find out what system the cars running now Thanks man
Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the Alpha One in my F30. My car had stock upgraded Harmon\Kardon which sounded great but a speaker blew and I decided to upgrade the whole system. The Harmon amp is pretty good from factory so i thought these speakers will really change it up. It did but it was actually sounded worse. The vocals or mids were so much more muted and the tweeters with ear piercingly loud. I ended up removing all the Alpha One speakers, going to the BMW dealer and ordering all the OEM Bower and Wilkins speakers. I have never looked back because those are absolutely impressive. Also, Merry Christmas!
Back in V2 of the 1M audio system I also fitted the B&W drivers from a G20. They were indeed a good UG over the Harman Kardon's, but I found the tweeter level was wayyyyy too bright. I managed to tame them with a custom made passive crossover (a proper one, not just the standard inline capacitor) and that system kept me happy for a few months. A couple of years ago you could pick up the B&W's cheap on eBay, but now all the sellers have wised-up and prices have gone silly.... At the current prices being asked for them, you can do much better imo.
@@BMW1M I was just looking on my ebay, do i need to change my region to germany? Also how do I know what they have is the same fit? Sorry for being stupid lmfao
@zeroto60tube. Merry Xmas! Did you put the filters on the door cards, after saying you don't need to do that if you're using the Alpha One amp? If so, that may be why the don't sound as good as you hoped :)
There is still only one channel per side to power both the midrange and the tweeter, so a passive crossover of some sort is required (at least for the tweeter, so they don't try to play lower frequencies). You can ditch the passive crossovers entirely only when you have a dedicated amp channel for each speaker (fully active).
Yeah. Filters between amp and mids. The. Addition filter between mid and tweeter. Shouldn’t need the ones between the amp and the mid in this setup. But I just followed the book.
Do they have a preset map to suit the amp and sub upgrade without doing the door speakers? I ended up going amp and sub combo for mine but leaving door speakers as is as they are only 4 years old
You can quickly switch like I do in this video. Or contact them after and they will fine tune. Orrrr you can buy a mic and tweak it yourself. I think you’re gonna be stoked!
Significantly lower and hits stronger. The system is bed in now and sounds even better. I really like it. I think key is the amp however, it is so much more powerful than the OEM ones.
Hey man, just seeing if you have a shop that I can take my 335i to? It's just been having issues that I just simply can't resolve and want someone that knows these to have a look of what is going on, cheers!

Hi Andrew - Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones too Sorry that my fear that the E91 would start to rattle came true - maybe it is time for some additional weight under the Sub box and between the sheetmetal and the under carry protection to reduce the rattle. regarding the midrange (vocal) problem - the dsp tool 5 should be capable to do an RTA autotune and also an auto time alignment measurement if you use the fitting mic (does the amp have the connection for it?) maybe you have a problem with the accustical phase or a dip in the frequency curve due to interfearences - those are oftentimes (especially the phase problems) the reason for dull midrange
It’s like you knew what was coming hehe. I will have a play with the dsp and speak to bimmertech. However it does sound clearer than the x5m. So it may be correct. Hearing the bowers wilkins may have ruined me.
@@ZeroTo60Tube might be true once you start compareing it gets pretty expensive very fast - BMW1M might know what i try hinting at nonetheless I hope I can get back into competing soon
Yep, it's really tough. The best-cheap mics I found were the Roland CS-10EM binaural. They do OK up to about 97-100dB (on the quiet end of the range for a high-end audio system), but beyond that they will clip, and they are a little bass heavy, so still require EQ'ing in post to bring sub-bass back down to actual levels. They are definitely better than any built-in mic, and I feel can do an audio system justice if used correctly. I have a video on my channel using them...
Nice magical amp would save us from damned hifi! Any concern with existing amp power wire rating and possibly the subs wires for additional load? Any words from the vendor ?
The factory wiring is definitely up to the task. BMW seem to use twisted pair speaker wire which seems to be a very good quality. As for the amp load. I think this amp not only makes more power but it is more efficient than factory. So the actual load on the power wire is not a problem.
