Leave the direct injection system in place, that way you can implement a dual injection system. A dual injection system can increase the output of the engine. Another thing you can do with dual injection is inject a lean mixture through port injectors, and then use a small direct injection pulse to create a rich pocket near the spark plugs to ignite the entire mixture. I understand these features are out of most tuner's league or ability, but you can start small by just switching which fuel system is used based on driving conditions. Basically I'm trying to say by incorporating both systems, you won't need to make a custom solution for deleting the direct injection system and you leave more potential tuning options open for the long run, even if you only run port injection at first.
I was going to say. The heads, pistons, and combustion chamber are all designed to use direct injection. I think switching to port only injection would lose a ton of power and efficiency.
There were two ways for this to go well; something that would be objectively good but piss ferrari off (like the honda engine which is light and powerful but kind of boring) or something better than what ferrari themselves did, he went with the second.

Yes, this is exactly the powerplant this car deserves. One tip: If you want that V12 Scream, take a look into the work of Maisteer and his research on stepped headers!
No. The problem with what they are planning to do, is that most of the sound you hear in both an F12 and 812, is intake sound. When they change to the intake they are talking about, that goes away. The worst part is that the intake they talk about using, will most likely seriously hurt performance. Ferrari is without a doubt the best when it comes to intake tuning.
@@AB-80X Yeah, don't forget port injection, they use direct injection for a reason, I just don't think there is any reputable ECU that can do direct injection.
@ I know. Mentioned it elsewhere. The high compression this thing runs, is in part possible due to the DFI. But that will be less of an issue with E85. Pretty sure MoTec can run DFI. Personally I’d stick to the stock intake and run the induction like that of the original car.

Same, i thought a tt 458 v8 would be fitting, but his engine choice is pretty epic. What puts a grin on my face is all this will be in a car that should weigh well below 2500lbs lol.

An Audi Or McLaren TT V8 would have worked, although not as _pure_ as a prancing horse power plant.. .. This 40 project might actually turn out _better_ with the 50 engine in it than the original, . Definitely an epic build.
Gotta say, it fits the package in a whole different way than a Judd v10 would have, and as you said it doesn't need to rebuild every other weekend. I did not see this angle coming, I was expecting something more personal than putting the best Ferrari engine into the best Ferrari, but now that it's out it makes total sense. Hats off, this is going to be amazing.
ive always thought the twin turbo V8 is the weakest link of the F40.. i always wished for a F40 with F50 engine. nice that someone makes something similar! cant go wrong with a Enzo derrived 800 hp N/A V12!
The F40 was derived from the 288 GTO and 288 GTO Evo. The 288 GTO was designed for the Group B category (was used for sports cars as well as rally). Under the rules for Group B, turbo engines had an equivalence factor of 1.4. The 288 GTO had an equivalent capacity of just under 4.0L, which was one of the weight/capacity points in the regulations. The weight at 4L was 1,100kg. A V-12 of the same power would have meant a car that was 135kg to 200kg heavier.
Bruh... Direct injection is one of the main reasons why it so effective and can output 800 hp from 6.5 l of displacement. If you want to have that much output, you need to use not only the direct injection, but also stock intake and exhaust manifolds, because all of that was designed specifically to work together and make it as powerful as it possible for NA engine. Without all of that it would be very good if you will be able to achieve 650-700 hp. (like in Enzo) Heads on that engine has shape optimised for DI and have ports for injectors, what are you going to do with that? Weld them up? If you wanted something primitive and easy to work with - you should have bought Mercedes M120 v12 and put turbos on it...
had to scroll to find someone worried about this also. Converting a DI engine and getting it to work seems like considerably more effort and pain than just learning DI. you will lose power and efficiency. Also may have a chance to harm the engine that you paid soo much for
Agreed. With the compression ratio being so high I really think not running the direct injection system will inhibit its power potential and may even be a reliability concern if a high enough octane fuel isn’t used. I know the use of the haltech is driving him not wanting to run it. I hope he comes up with a solution to run it as it’s an awesome project!
@@dbnewman89 that's probably one of the reasons. It is not that complicated to setup, several modern aftermarket ECU supports 12 cyl DI. I don't believe he will be able to achieve great results by removing the direct injection. At least, it will stay NA .
It's not from an Enzo, it's from an 812 superfast.... A litlle bit of clickbait in the title, which this channel does not need honestly... The engine is actually better than an Enzo V12, as it has more HP and direct injection system... But the clickbait was not needed...
@@Mobi666it’s not FROM an Enzo, but it’s the same engine (F140) just a newer better version of it (F140 GA I think? Enzo was 140 B). It’s like building an E30 with a G80 engine (S58) but pulling it from an X3M.

Its amazing that you not only got a Ferrari v12, but you got the latest v12 that you could possibly get. You are doing what gearheads fantasize about. Fyi for everyone, the ls3 weighs about 440 lbs which is considered light for a v8. A ford coyote weights over 500 lb. A 440lb v12 is literally as light as it can be.
Mike, you've just made this Dutch Ferrari fan a very happy one! The F40 was on the wall of my childhood room, I think it's absolujtely iconic... to see another one in the process of being reborn is wonderful and I wholeheartedly agree on your choice of engine! This one is going to be so worth the wait! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Loses the original concept by not using a V8.. An Audi Or McLaren TT V8 would have worked. &! Keeping power to ~ 500 prancing horses would still be fast considering the space frame chassis.
Bringing the best of the F40/F40LM and F50's legacy is passion for Ferrari engineering at its peak. The level of research and design behind this project is insane. I'm speechless

I woulda thrown up in my mouth a bit if you had put an LS or K series in this thing.
So excited for this project!
I Approve Of This Message, That I WOULD NOT KSwap It.
He mentioned already a video or two back it wouldn't get a K or LS, that it would be more exotic.
@@Judge_Jon I would have approved a Judd V10, but Ryan Tuerck already put one in a new Supra.
I'm Italian. I approve of this swap. I approve of this build.
Sir, you have earned my 🇮🇹 stamp of approval
Yes, this is exactly the powerplant this car deserves. One tip: If you want that V12 Scream, take a look into the work of Maisteer and his research on stepped headers!
Make it 12 into 1 and call it a day lol **Any F1 Meme**
@@KSwapTheWorld69What about both?
@
I know. Mentioned it elsewhere. The high compression this thing runs, is in part possible due to the DFI. But that will be less of an issue with E85. Pretty sure MoTec can run DFI.
Personally I’d stick to the stock intake and run the induction like that of the original car.
This is an amazing engine choice! This is probably my favorite Ferrari engine ever made.
Agreed 😎
This will get this channel to 1 million.. EASY. Not sure how it’s not already there but won’t have to wait long. This is nuts. And I know the workmanship will fit this project as it deserves.
THE MADLAD ACTUALLY OVER DELIVERED! What a journey this will be!
Why are you so fucking cool Mike? So sick seeing where StanceWorks has come after all these years. From Rusty to F40, sensational!
"It's 7.5 inches, it's so small"
Joking aside, this is hands down the best project that's ever been on TH-cam. Been anxiously waiting every day for every new episode
I really wanted to see a Ferrari V8 TT make its way into this project. But, this is far better. I didn’t think one of these engines would be on the radar. What a dream!
Same, i thought a tt 458 v8 would be fitting, but his engine choice is pretty epic. What puts a grin on my face is all this will be in a car that should weigh well below 2500lbs lol.
@ It will be a handful!
Same here.
In recreating an Italian icon one wants to capture the _essence_
of an F40.
.
Keeping the power train in line with this _concept_ would have been logical..
..
An Audi Or McLaren TT V8 would have worked, although not as _pure_
as a prancing horse power plant..
..
This 40 project might actually turn out _better_ with the 50 engine in it than the original,
.
Okay this build has officially gone to a stratospheric level. Great choice of a motor
As an Italian I felt very curious and proud of this build. But now? I cant wait for this build. It's gonna be awesome!
Man. What a golden era of YT car builds. A monster F40, a barn-find Miura, an impeccably restored 240z… Love it.
Check out
soup motoring lotus Esprit project..
..
It's being done on a budget but the quality of work is top notch from George.
@@stuartd9741 Thanks, I'll have a look!
This and the DDE F12 are dream builds for Ferrari fans😂😂 Especially since the DDE F12 is nearly finished and now we have this
We all know the DDE f12 won’t last long 🤣 I don’t think any car they’ve had has lasted
ive always thought the twin turbo V8 is the weakest link of the F40..
i always wished for a F40 with F50 engine.
nice that someone makes something similar!
cant go wrong with a Enzo derrived 800 hp N/A V12!
"I always wished for an F40 with a F̶5̶0̶ V12 engine"
That's why the F50 exists
@@idostuff480F40 is better looking. F40 skin, Enzo engine, custom-built chassis. This should be awesome.
@@1slotmech Yep, never liked the looks of the F50, F40 looks way better.
I love this build. can't wait to see more
OOOOOOKKKKKKKKK. CERTIFIED BEST BUILD ON TH-cam!
(like in Enzo)
Heads on that engine has shape optimised for DI and have ports for injectors, what are you going to do with that? Weld them up?
If you wanted something primitive and easy to work with - you should have bought Mercedes M120 v12 and put turbos on it...
Without direct injection and high pressure fuel rails 800hp cannot be achieve
had to scroll to find someone worried about this also. Converting a DI engine and getting it to work seems like considerably more effort and pain than just learning DI. you will lose power and efficiency. Also may have a chance to harm the engine that you paid soo much for
@@soccerboy556 Haltech are sponsoring and do not support DI yet... the real reason
At least, it will stay NA .
yeah now thats gonna be the ultimate ferrari man a v12 FROM AN ENZO DAMMM
hold up it's from an actual 812 superfast crazier motor
It's not from an Enzo, it's from an 812 superfast.... A litlle bit of clickbait in the title, which this channel does not need honestly... The engine is actually better than an Enzo V12, as it has more HP and direct injection system... But the clickbait was not needed...
How was it clickbait? It's literally what you just said it is... an Enzo engine on steroids.
@@Mobi666it’s not FROM an Enzo, but it’s the same engine (F140) just a newer better version of it (F140 GA I think? Enzo was 140 B).
It’s like building an E30 with a G80 engine (S58) but pulling it from an X3M.
@@Mobi666 Is not clickbait becaus it is an Enzo engine, it was made originall for the Enzo, but this is an improved version.
to read the blog & forum all the time 15ish years ago, to now this? wild. editing is on point as well can't wait for the rest of the build.
This build just went from amazing to legendary😱
An 812 superfast drove past me 'full beans' like 3 years ago, the noise it made was incredible.
I still think about it.
Incredible machine.
This F40 is going to be insane.
This is the best car build on youtube ever. Incredible cinematography and editing as well. You just ooze passion and respect for the craft. I’m not even in this industry, but it is inspiring for my path as well.
Holy Crap! This is unexpected and completely over the top. I didn’t think I could be more excited for this build. Once again you’ve blown expectations out of the water. If there are any car guys out there that aren’t following this build and Stanceworks in general… what are you doing with your life. Seriously.
I had doubts about this build, but now I dont care cus any car with an enzo engine is gonna be sick.
ITBs would be hella cool and even more "classic" a modern Engine like this with an open Intake pure soundgasm
Okay... F40 body panels. Enzo engine. *I was worried you are going to use another Honda power plant.* Instant subscribe! Send it!
This just got REALLY interesting! Great engine choice Mike. I think it is the best choice for what you are doing.
Really enjoy the level of technical detail and information you provide. Combine that with fantastic visuals and videography and it's easy to see why this is one of my favorite channels for car content. Keep living the dream, brother!
now i wish i could travel to the future and binge watch 30 episodes and enjoy the finished beauty
I know, right? It may seem far away, but it will be here before you know it! Cheers!
V12 is exactly what this car needed.
Honestly, at first, i didn't believe in you.... but..... you are a legend... i can't wait to see the progress
Amazing engine choice! I’m already in love with this project. It’s going to be sick.
We’ve just found this Chanel via Ratarossa. Brilliant, and loving your work guys. 🇬🇧
Absolute masterclass from the engine, to the transmission, and the ECU. Dream build 👏
@@jadielmaistry1532 but that ecu is shit, because it doesn't support direct injection
I was a bit scared on the engine choice last episode... that fact you went balls deep with a f140 did not disappoint
Yeah fantastic choice 👍
I want an F140 engine 😍
Mike, you've just made this Dutch Ferrari fan a very happy one! The F40 was on the wall of my childhood room, I think it's absolujtely iconic... to see another one in the process of being reborn is wonderful and I wholeheartedly agree on your choice of engine! This one is going to be so worth the wait!
Greetings from the Netherlands!
THE perfect engine for this project PERIOD.
V8
Dude, keep it N/A, the power delivery will be awesome and it will last longer!!!
Please don't get rid of the direct injection, it's a key part of that engines greatness.
I thought for sure it was going to be the Judd V-10 since you mentioned it earlier, but this is so much cooler.
Gotta go for the best of the best!
Bro, you deserve a million subs for this project. I'm fuggin hooked!
The progressive rate H&R lowering springs I installed on my W126 Mercedes were pure magic. Can't recommend them high enough!
It's going to be great to see the factory tour 😍
I'm using the m120 V12 for my build😎
Tbh who is gonna complain? A Ferrari V12 in a Ferrari F40? COUNT ME IN
😍
But it's not an F40 in any way shape or form...
@@gregmarking6716 It's real enough for me 😎 the Ferrari engine gets my approval 👍 it's arguably cooler than a real f40 🤔 SP3 engine 🤯
@@UKBUILT True, I'm sure it will be awesome when it's done.
Loses the original concept by not using a V8..
An Audi Or McLaren TT V8 would have worked. &! Keeping power to ~ 500 prancing horses would still be fast considering the space frame chassis.
Reverse engineering a chassis is wild. Stoked for this build 💪
Mike Burroughs at his absolute finest!!!! The story telling is so good and man, I'm so hyped to go work on my own project now!
Bringing the best of the F40/F40LM and F50's legacy is passion for Ferrari engineering at its peak. The level of research and design behind this project is insane. I'm speechless
Im new here, sorry for beeing late. We can blame TH-cam for that. I thought everyone that deals with cars on TH-cam had to present like they used substans. And that you had to repair a damaged car, with good enough qualiy that its not visable in the video. That or mounting a turbo on a car, dyno its, show the new HP and say good buy - thanks for watching after a burnout,
You explain how you have been thinking around the project. Talking about some histor,y. You simply bring content thats interesting.
There are no stress to finish it, we wont gett bored. Too many think the content is about the car beeing finished that they compleatly niss why something is interesting. When they get their first lamboroghini to repair - you know that now its all about to finish this project. I dont watch it because its a lamboroghini. To be honest, think it would be more interesting if it was a Volvo.
Keep this up. You are very good.
bro got the best sounding f140 engine letsgoo
If you are going to replace the F40 engine, I can't think of a better replacement. The sound will be incredible.
I bought H&R spacers for my s197 based on your partnership here. Fantastic quality. I would buy more from them
Just showed up on my feed.. idk 5:40 who you are but I’m here for this build; got that white bell icon set already ❤
DUDE. What?? I had my doubts, but DAMN you chose the correct engine!!!
My F40 bad, my F40 hood, my F40 do stuff that yo F40 wish she could
The holy grail of engines 🔥
How many people whacked the volume to max at the sound of that V12, maaaaaaaaaaaaan my neighbours are pissed.
Love this series, I cannot wait to see my favourite car and how you've added your ideas to it.
😂👍
I hope you guys are ready to blow up hard on YT. 1M new subs in the next few months. (300k currently in Nov '24 for those looking back). Well deserved.
V12 is craaaazy
😍 Fantastic 👍
I'm using a V12 for my supercar project too 😎
This F40 build is Epic.
The 812 NA V12 engine is a phenomenal option.
Doesn't need Twin Turbo, #DDE is doing that.
#Stanceworks N/A V12 F40 with the right exhaust will be perfect. Well done #Mike.
He has finally lost his mind and Im here for it!
Hats off for production and the well thought off concept.
I have a dream of resto-modding a Testarossa with F430 engine or Ferrari V8, twin turbo. Your project kind of making my (financially) impossible dream come true. And I thank you for that 🤘🏽🤘🏽
You can do it 😎👍
Hell YEAH!!!! This build is going to break the internet!!!
17:29, hey man.. thats plenty..
19:47 don't custom machine anything to block holes, use something like Konig MB-plugs that will permanently and completely block the holes and you'll never have to worry about leakage.
20:15 engine mount looks like an alligator 🐊
lol I see it 😂
I can’t unsee this 😂
IM SO HERE FOR THIS. LETS GO!
I'm not even halfway in the video, and this is the best I 've seen from you yet. That's saying a lot. This build is epic. I can't wait to see it completed. I can't even imagine how excited you must be.
