100% agree. I picked up a 2023 TE300 tpi back in June and I absolutely love the bike in the technical single track riding that I do as well as everywhere else. I never feel like it's underpowered in fact the bike has so much bottom to mid power it loves being a gear or two tall, the bike just pulls like a tractor up and over any hill or obstacle. These tpi bikes have been fine tuned since 2018 specifically for that kind of riding and it really shows. Myself and a lot of people plate these bikes and it's so nice to just pull up to the pump and put straight gas in, they're very low maintenance machines. I see all the bullshit online about sensor failures but like you said these people go straight to social media about it and the other 98% of owners don't have any major issues and just keep riding.
I just got an end of year sale on a 2023 te300 myself and looking forward to it. I'm sure the tx300 with the tbi would have advantages, but being able to run straight pump gas like you say is such a huge advantage in convenience. I don't think the power delivery difference is going to be a big downside for me. I'm nowhere near good enough on a bike, or plan to do the sort of riding a tbi might benefit from.
That's why I bought one. You can bring a little bottle of oil and not measure anything. I got my 2020 tpi xc plated but haven't really been able to ride it
My 2022 TE250i is my first oil injection bike since my 1970 Kawasaki G4TR Trailboss. I love the oil injection, much better mileage and always perfect jetting on my new bike!
There's no difference between TPI and TBI in how they handle elevation changes, that's why I didn't mention it. It's a great perk of fuel injection in general tho!
That’s really good advice. I have a ‘23 XCW and love it. I’ve been told that the ‘24 XCW will be TBI with oil pump. I was excited to buy one but given my riding style, like you stated, riding single track, I’m going to stick with my TPI ‘23. It’s the perfect bike for me. 😊
I think both are amazing, but I like the feel of of a carb, I also have an idea that I could fix/trouble shoot a carb better and quicker than the newer bikes. + even though I'm not hip, and the only one in the US that still likes natural alum-finish rims, all the newer bikes are blacked out, ruins it for me..
Well get them while you can because TPI is being completely phased out soon. I much prefer the feel of a TBI bike myself but to each their own. As far as the sensor issues go, almost everyone I ride with with a 21/22 TPI has had the CCP fail, some on the first couple rides. The new models also have several other upgrades the biggest being the electronic power valve. It appears to be a big step forward for KTM overall. I'm guessing a few years from now we will all be talking about what a big mistake TPI was.
I think we’ll see that TPI remains on the beloved enduro bikes where it works so well. TBI is great on motocross and cross country bikes, but not everyone wants a twitchy race engine that runs on pre-mix.
Thanks for sharing your insights of riding both TBI and TPI. Can you comment on the different chassis feel as the new '23 chassis has been a bit polarizing on the 4-strokes with the stiffer overall feel (I have a '22.5 450 Factory Edition and it is noticeably firmer feel overall). The TPI 250/300 engines are well sorted and run clean in such a wide range of temperatures. Gas and go simplicity with oil injection too. My 2021 KTM 300 Erzberg has been trouble fee and (3) of my friends have 20/21/23 300 Erzbergs all with zero issues and all of them love the bike and TPI. I have a '23 300XC on order and dealer indicates could be here end of September or early October so will be fun to compare back to back to my '21 300 Erzberg.
Great video, I watched an interview with the HOO of KTM /Husky who said "TPI will stay into the future" for the enduro range and / or for bikes that need to be road registered as this is the only they can meet the Euro 5 regulations 🙂
I think TPI will be carried over to the new models, its a fantastic system and bike to ride once you fix the issues with them, i hope KTM fix those for the new models. I love my 22 300 exc with the TSP kit.
Wow , ive been hanging onto my 12 to 16 style kehin carbed bike mostly because of the huge lack of performance in newer tpi bikes where you have to buy a 300 to run even close to a older 250. So your review gives me hope in the new tbi and I'm all for not having a oil pump. So far my biggest concern about the new tbi bikes is the lack of a kick-start. As for your concern about to snappy, did you try the more mellow map ? It should make a real difference now that it has a electric power valve.
Nowadays people in general, but in this case riders, have got lazy. Pre-mixing and kick-starting have become such issues when choosing a bike. Keep it simple, and keep it efficient as priorities.

Love my 22 300xc
Everything you said perfectly describes my '17 300xcw with a carburetor.
My experience as well.

I love the oil Injection it's so much more convenient. I can actually fill up at a gas station with just the bike

I’ve got close to 90 hours on my 2021 tx300i and haven’t done anything but basic maintenance. I race a local harescramble and love the bike

Not mentioned elevation changes….. my rides are sometimes from 7000-13000 feet in one day, it works like a butter…. Nice fit for my use, thank you V

Thank you MXG. 100% my thoughts.. love my 21 GasGas but in the end it doesn’t matter. Don’t discuss if tpi or tbi is better. Just have fun 👌

@@SkylarRace I’m not speculating, they will all be tbi soon. They are not “twitchy” and the bikes will be an improvement over the tpi models.
@@PNWEnduro only twitchy if your hands are haha! Can’t wait for my ‘23 TX to be ready for pickup! 😍🤤
So TBI doesn’t have any pressure sensors? I find that hard to believe on a fuel injection system
@@BrickBike TBI has all the same sensors but the CPS sensor has an updated connection point.
Got the 350exc because all the tpi bikes if ridden with have gone back to the shop so I’ll be waiting for the tbi

Zero problems with my 2022 TPI.
You also get an option for a kickstarter. When you need it, you need it.
I'm about to add one to my 2020 xc

Me too. Same exact setup.Love it!
I have a 22 300xc and love it. I replaced a ccps, put an idle screw in it and a get ecu(not needed but i like it) and she rips!
@@davidsalinas5508 Bang on mate. I put the Tokyo off-road ccps brass fitting and tray and I’ve never had an issue on 3 bikes with ccps
That is the setup, better response and more oil where you need it. It is a tractor.
Got the best of both worlds with my 23 TM300fi no mixing gas and has TBI
But that's not a two stroke, right?
Doh..
Don’t you think when the w next year it will be a different animal
Went is ktm going to come back out with the 200 cc xc ,and the xc- w ? The 150 is just a pumped up 125 .
Bought the only kato I would ever own. A '22 250sx.
Your loss buddy!
