IS IT WORTH IT TO CHANGE FROM KTM TPI TO TBI?

- Hold onto your handlebars, because I'm about to drop some serious truth bombs! When it comes to upgrading from the KTM TPI to the KTM TBI, I have a different perspective that might make you think twice before reaching for your wallet.
Sure, the allure of a shiny new bike is hard to resist. The KTM TBI may seem like the holy grail of two-wheeled machines, promising untamed power and unrivaled performance. But let's pause for a moment and consider an alternative path that could take your riding skills to soaring heights without breaking the bank.
Instead of splurging your hard-earned cash on an upgrade, why not invest in something even more valuable: yourself? Picture this: being mentored by a pro rider, someone who has mastered the art of maneuvering through treacherous terrains and conquering every obstacle in their path. Imagine the invaluable knowledge and skills you could gain from their expertise, all while fine-tuning your own techniques.
With the right training and guidance from a seasoned professional, you can unlock the true potential within yourself. They can teach you the subtle nuances of balance, precision, and technique that no bike upgrade can ever provide. You'll learn how to read the terrain, anticipate challenges, and make split-second decisions that separate the average riders from the true champions.
Investing in training with a pro rider is like fueling your bike with rocket propellant. It's the secret ingredient that propels you to greatness. Instead of relying solely on the brute force of a new machine, you'll develop the finesse and mastery that only comes from dedicated practice and personalized instruction.
Think about it: would you rather have the latest bells and whistles on your bike but remain the same rider, or would you rather become a force to be reckoned with, armed with the skills and knowledge that can take you anywhere your heart desires?
So, my fellow adrenaline junkies, before you empty your wallet on an upgrade, consider this alternative path. Invest in yourself, embrace the opportunity to learn from a pro rider, and watch as your riding abilities skyrocket. Remember, it's not just about the bike you ride; it's about the rider you become. The choice is yours, my friend.

Good comparison! But holy shit how many times can I be told to buckle up, hold on, start my engine, brace myself....
That chat gpt scripted sucks.
Can you make a video comparing TPI, TPI and carburated bikes?
Good idea, I'll try
Wich do you like more?? Tpi or tbi and why??
You can run premix on TBI if you get a delete resistor for the oil pump.
Kamala Harris must have written the scrip. Buckle up.
Can’t believe you people are giving so much importance to relics like the kickstart. Just have a proper battery. Been riding for years and not once a bike (mine or somebody else’s) failed to start. You see all the pros at erzberg etc live with no kickstart, so what’s the problem? And the subframe then!? Let’s focus in real issues.
I recently raced Silver Kings Hard Enduro in the USA and passed several TPI/TBI with dead batteries.
@@nick4872Yeah …all with XC model with a fan and a stator not strong enough to run those fan. Never gonna happen with a XC-W
You are right, everything is fine while the motorcycle is only a year old and has less than 100 hours. Imagine when TBI is 10 years old, how will it start?
@@TheDirtbikeRider yes I don’t know, just observing
Guys at Erzbergrodeo with 25k minimum bike builds & million dollar companies backing them vs a stock bike ...awwright. Also Mr. Graham GARVIS..... might have heard of him....did lose (disqualified) Erzbergrodeo over his te300i last year failing n( fuel connector). With the gopro footage showing his battery going dead trying to start it.
Not to mention his bike is rocking a KTM black subframe.
would you rather use a TPI on the streets or a TBI
Im already fucking buckled up just start😭😭
So funny love it!!!
I stick with carburators, I own a Lextra 300, 2T, ( GPX) and I appreciate here where I live in Mexico, I can find a mechanic able to do the maintenance required.
Love my 2021 te250i (TPI) husky. No issues and best bike I ever had.
How many working hours do you have now?
Love my TE250 2020 TPI, best bike I ever had
I tried it today and a feel it a lot heavier than previous TPI. Did you noticed this?
I have a 2023 300 tbi, it’s great in every way for me, except the random bog/cut out of power that seems to plague a handful. Did it on a jump face. A dudes new husky on a facebook group did it on a jump and he broke his shoulder. It’s like the kill switch is hit when you grab a handful of throttle. Some kind of electrical glitch, either fuel delivery or power valve, map reset…something. It’s very random and when you least expect it. Again, best bike I’ve ever had except this issue.
For 3 longer minutes all you said was brace yourself blah blah blah. you lost me on the video bro I didn't even finish it.
What map switch do you have on that bike?
My 2022 300 TPI has a Slavens head, a Coober ECU, I changed it to TBI and premix and it rips now & chuggs at any low rpm also. 🤣💥
I beat KTM by 6 months via going to premix and TBI. LOL. Took me a few months to figure it out and took KTM 6 years to go to it with the 2023..
I backed the power valve out a bit to remove some of the very fun hit it developed.
So many forget that a turn or 2 of the power valve can really change the power delivery to a person's liking.
Without any adjusting of the valve it does not show the fuller range of operation any of the bikes can give. Except for the 2023 with the none manual adjuster as it is electric.
Also there are a green and red spring you can buy for pennies (they came as extras for the older carb bikes).
I know on paper the tbi is heavier. Can you feel that in riding ?
Heavier than what? They are not heavier than a TPI
I just got a 2024 ktm 300 xcw and the bike is amazing suspension feels way better than the past few years and engine is awesome too. My only complaint is the xcw doesn’t come with a map switch and it’s stuck in the easy map…
From what I understand, there is a little dongle you can unplug that puts it in the green map. It’s in the plug you would plug the switch into.
Hi, how does the 2024 compare in weight to the tpis?
@@MathewsGuitarWorks I did some digging about that and its false. The dongle is can bus line terminator and removing it does not change map but allows more noise into the canbus. The only way to change map is with the switch and the ECU will remember the last selected map so if someone wants to ride in the other map and does not want to buy a switch then option is to borrow one from a mate that has one on their bike and plug it in for a moment.
What’s easier to ride?
As far as that is concerned, I don't think there is much difference
Tbi is more like the response of the 4 stroke since 2011 form ktm. Tpi is bugging and run more like a trial bike .. tbi feel like a carburator setting like a rocket..i purchase a 250 xc 2023 and have 40 hours on it and it run flawless !!
Great comment, it means you are completely satisfied
@@TheDirtbikeRider 100% 😉😊🥰
I have a 250sx carb and 250sx tbi. The TBI is complete junk, the carb bike runs stronger everywhere, tbi is finicky turd.
Great to hear. I've been riding a 350 4stroke so far and I really like it. On the other hand most of my riding is slow stuff so I rarely get above 3rd gear. A bike that is a bit lighter and less likely to stall and flameout but has similar throttle response would be ideal. Need to try one.
@@tombunch5945 What is turd on motocross track might be great for enduro and vice versa.
There’s a option for a kickstarter on my TPI putting it on after this season, the TPI is more for trails it handles the lug way better, I just rode my buddies TBI it’s way snappier, with linkage shocks, little harder ride in trails, but excellent on the track
Would you sell your tpi and buy a tbi?
Stranded on top of a hill with no kickstarter? 😂
Switch to 4-stroke. They have EFI.
Are you offering me 350?
@@TheDirtbikeRider Beta 390 :p
350 is the way to go
The lack of intelligence here is mind blowing
For me the major advantage of the new engine its not the fuel injection, the major advantage is the electronic power valve!
The electric pv sucks. It's slow to respond, often catching it way out of place for throttle input. Makes for a flooded sound, always loading up. Avoid tbi bikes like the plague, there is a reason why ktm knocked 2,500.00 off these piles of junk.
Great video.
Been wondering when I’d have to trade in my tpi te300i for the newer tbi.
🏍️💨
What is your final decision ?
Ill trade my 23 250xc TBI for a half way decent TPI, Kremmling Colorado.
could listen to the script 2:40 and i'm out
Next is TBI+TPI system all in one.
They already have aftermarket versions of that for the tpi
I’m sold on TBI because of the electronic power valve
The 2023 tpi bikes also have power valve. Atleast on xcw
This Guy does bring up good debated issues injection, kick starter , ect good video keep it up and may the force be with you!
It's the same with any of the new bikes I think. Let the first year or two get the teething problems out the way then the TBI will become superior. Look at the 2018-2019 TPI bikes no one will touch them due to the issues they had with the oil pump failing causing catastrophic engine failure.
Nice video mate 👍
Very good argument, I completely agree with you. Every new model is critical, its flaws and problems are not yet known
Not sure where you get your information but the 18 and 19's you speak of have the same oil pump as the 2020 - current TPI. They did not have any issues, the 2020 model, only in some cases, ran better due to updated ECU updates. An owner can make significant updates to their 18-19 model via aftermarket ECU and be superior to even the 2020 stock ECU. 2020 added an extra sensor which was for more emissions. The 2020 model also added a filter in the oil tank and updated the oil tank mounts. Also, the 19 TPI in particular had less issues over the long run and when looking at cylinders when I overhaul them they look fantastic. I've seen many guys go 200 to even 300 + hours on a top end! What I can tell you is to buy a 2019, install TBI TSP kit, delete the oil injection if you wish, update the suspension that fits your riding and you have a trail weapon for a fourth of the cost of a new bike and it will be reliable as it gets.
@@onthethrottle7104 I had the idea of getting a second hand TPI and doing some upgrades but the price difference here is nowhere close to fourth of the cost of a new one. The local dealer is offering 300 TBI a hair under 10k and the few second hand TPIs are listed locally for around 5-6K. Add the cost of upgrades and its tempting to get a brand new one instead of a bike with 200-300hours on the clock (some have had recent engine rebuilds though) with pretty much unknown history.
@@rehepeks Good point and either way you win. The resale of the TBI will be great as well. I have a 24 TBI as well, excellent bike...it's the best two stroke bike made hands down! I hope you get a bike soon, BRAAAP
Compare to Beta 300s too.
What do you think about beta, do you like it more than ktm
Terribly corny script but a few good points in there.
Its the best upgrade to do, evertbody should make it TBI
What are the advantages that you felt?
@@TheDirtbikeRider No feeling anything.....maby response but hard to say.....but think reabilty is going to be less of an issue
Please stop writing like this. If not, I hope I never land on your channel again. Good grief!!
Fellow riders, brace yourselves, my friends, buckle up, my two cents, your journey, strap in, is this voice AI generated?…super annoying.
The robot voice over sucks
Can't listen to this AI sounding crap!
Lame video but you can convert a tpi to tbi and keep the kick starter and you can delete the oil tank on eather bike . And yes you will still be a squid on eather bike .
Couldn't reach the end, description was too f***ing gay for me...
Skip the ai
You should be a politician. Half that video was absolute nonsense.
…and reduced seizing compared to tpi bikes.

Ridiculous narration. Way overdone man
